- Because October is Depression Awareness Month, I wanted to have a transparent conversation about the depression I deal with (PMDD) and how I manage it abroad. There are a lot of upsides to relocating to Lisbon, Portugal, but that doesn't mean life is perfect.

Wow…just came across this video and had NO idea that behind those very immersive videos was the REAL you…what strength and courage to put yourself out there with the things you’ve been and continue to deal with…having to do all you do for yourself and your son…amazing…I admire what you have done
Proud of you Black Mom Rainbow Life. You have me thinking about my life and how much more I can improve on it. You nailed it again. Bravo!
Aww thank you for the kind comment! Happy holidays :)
By far our favorite channel on youtube 😍😍
Thank you!!
Love your sense of adventure, your strength and honesty. Grateful for you and what you do.
Thanks for sharing, we’ve been aboard for about 5 years now (from California as well) and can totally relate to the challenges of new places and languages. I’ve struggled with depression and have used the some of the same tools. I’ve learned we really never can understand what others may be going through, no matter what their situation looks like from the outside. Here’s hoping we’re all a little kinder to one another. Sending 🌈 and 🦄’s.
♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for being so open and honest! Enjoy your channel
I hope you are well and very happy with your son in Portugal. You are a very beautiful woman and I am sure that you will have a lot of happiness in your life. Beijinhos 😊👍
Sending you love and light! I really enjoy your videos and I just LOVE the name of your channel! Hoping you can find some relief from your suffering, dear lady. And looking forward to the day me and hubby finally make the move ourselves. I totally get what you’re saying with depression and dealing with your son. I am diagnosed bi-polar and I’ve learned how to cope without meds. (I had a severe reaction last time I tried meds 21 years ago and my 5 year old witnessed that) I made him my focus and it helped me a lot. Again, much love to you and keep on hanging in there! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the kind message and for sharing your experience as well! Wishing you and your husband the best on your move when the time comes ♥️
Really appreciate you being open about this
Thank you for your honesty and openness! 🙏🏽
Good luck to you! I appreciate your acknowledgment of your mental health issue and inspiration to others! I cannot understand personally in totality, but do understand anxiety and do appreciate your openness! I love Portugal and Lisbon in particular and hope you find peace in your life in this incredible country!! ❤Portugal
you’re awesome! we love your videos!!
Thank you so much!!
It takes a lot of courage to say what you just said, congrats! When i´m feeling more tired, anxious or depressed i take a walk along a beach. The sea smells, the waves going against the rocks, the seagulls sounds, all of it makes a full recharge for me. Give it a try. You have lots of beachs around Lisbon, like Gincho, Ericeira, Magoito, Praia das Maçãs, Azenhas do Mar, just to name a few. You can also try a long walk around Sintra( Castelo dos Mouros, Quinta da Regaleira, Seteais). Wish all the best for you and your son, be happy and stay safe.
I feel you on so many levels. It sucks when your mind and body are not on the same page.
Thank you for sharing.
I can definitely relate to what you were saying about being depressed. Even though I would not call it full on depression, I would definitely say that I was upset and crying at times months after my grandmother died. I would say it was more so coping with her death. It was in December 2019 when it happened, but at certain times by myself i would cry or have too many fond moments many months later. Then on top of that the situation that I did not have my whole network that I had before, but I did have some family that were living in Puerto Rico with me as well as new family that came into play for me as well. I also think when I moved out of the continental US it made me less stressed, even when I would I deal with any type of US business. On top of that I made sure I went to the beach everyday so I could in a sense cleanse the energy and bring forth a renewal. I think the water, in a sense, would cleanse me and I would feel renewed every time I would leave from the beach. I know there are plenty of beaches in Portugal, in which I would recommend doing at least once a week at a less traveled to beach. But overall, I thought this was a good video and I will look at those links! I hope you do get over your depression and getting goods amount of sunlight can help in that aspect.
Going to the water is always helpful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this. 🥰
Thank you, Cin!! ♥️
Welcome to Portugal and be safe .
Thank you for sharing your heart and your reality, it is so important to normalize and talk about mental health struggles because everybody has them. Sending you lots of love and healing. BTW, do you edit your own videos? Your life in Lisbon videos are amazing! I am finally here for the first time for a visit and I am already in love with this city.
Ah, I can totally feel all of this.
As a single parent as well, especially, thank you for sharing.
Subscribed and going over to find you on Insta now.
Aww thank you, Ashley ♥️
God bless🙌🏾
Im sorry you have depression. Especially as a fellow sm, i totally can empathize.
Is this related to specifically living in lisbon? Spontaneity is key to living happier, too. It trulyyyy helps
Continue with the videos. 🔥 You are very well spoken in front of cam :)! New sub here.
Subscribed. Glad I've found your channel, im also consider moving there, although I have offgrid lifestyle in mind. Im from Belgium
An extremely artistic Vídeo.
You are bringing joy and hope to a great deal of people feeling down after this terrible Corona Vírus Visit.
You have fantastic vibs, and appear to be facing the situation with the utmost fortitude.
Same day better, other times not so well -- um sum, a learning processo I believe.
Warm regards, A.
Question: can you give a little bit more information on the mural 0:34. Location, story behind the work? This video is such a Social Good for you dad men to see. Super proud of you, and the life you are providing for you lil’ one.
Thanks for the info. I’m trying to convince my wife to take the trip there with our daughter for a few months. Any info on great experiences for 9 year old girls?
Good stuff…
I know it sounds simple, but I did breathing exercises and reconnect with nature for a whole year. I healed a brain injury. Going vegan also helped, but it's not necessary. But trust me it restructures your whole body and brain in a positive way. Your walks in Lisbon have helped because the are also a sort of breathing exercise. Repeat positive affirmations also help and cut out the scary movies or depressive series.
For real ok just take one day at the time and next time try Martin Moniz the shoping Center in the City Center, happy new day and good weekend all the best for you lovely injoy it.
Having suffered from anxiety and depression myself, my recommendation would be to quit caffeine and alcohol. You'll be surprised how much better you feel and how much your sleep improves. Thanks for sharing your journey and challenges.
I want come portugal on D7 visa. Can you help me.
No, I am not an immigration expert. With a quick google search you should be able ti find services to help you with your process if you do not want to do it yourself.
@@BlackMomRainbowLife thank you. I am preparing myself only.
I am waiting for your reply.
Hi I am from India
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs by a 'true healer' Stopped my PMDD. It took about 4months 3x's a week, it also ended the migraines that came with my menstruals... You Do Not have to Live with it.
