As a human being I'm baffled that someone says all rice taste the same, like, dude, rice is one the meals that mostly depends on who cooks it to taste different.
@@Boogerdick69 I think the problem is that most Asians only consume that one specific type of rice that is the standard in their country. Because they all grew up with that type of rice, they won't consume other types of rice that are foreign to them. "Al dente" literally means "to the tooth". We Italians use this expression to say that pasta (or rice) has softened enough to be edible, but it's still quite hard (from here comes the expression "al dente", because you can feel the chewing resistance with your teeth). If you want to say that your pasta has no texture at all because you cooked it for too long you can say that the pasta is "scotta". We usually like pasta to be "al dente", that's what good restaurants will serve you, but many people (just like me) eat pasta when it's in between "al dente" and "scotta". Here you go with an unwanted essay on pasta :)
Thank you, helpful Italian friend.

For Connor, in Italy we make also the "pizza al metro" (just a meter of pure pizza) that is stuffed to the brim and it's stone baked.
God damn that sounds so good!
Wait isn't that the premise of pizza Romagna???
Pizza romagna? Romagna is the name of my region of italy. Is the pizza al metro a typical thing from my region and i didn't even know somehow? Wait, are you italian or american or something else?
As an Italian myself, I'm going to create peace between both factions. None of them is better, it depends on what you are craving in that moment or in general. Stone Baked is more sofisticated, you can clearly tell the difference between each ingredient while chewing on it, but it is indeed smaller and the toppigs tend to fall if you don't fold it correctly. American pizza is a kimera of ingrediends, which make it kick, you don't really feel de difference between all of them but you have one taste that is the mixture of all and that is rappresentative of the pizza as a whole. This plus it being waaay havier make it my favourite dish to eat while drunk, that's why me and my friends, even being Italian, always order domino's.
Stone baked is when you are having a classy dinner with your girl.

If you can get it, try Detroit Style pizza! While it looks similar to Sicilian Style, the crust is perfectly caramelized on the outside, while still being chewy, and the toppings go all the way to the very edge of the pizza.
Local pizzarias that do it are the best option. Pizza Hut offered it about a year or so ago but it was meh. Surprisingly enough, Little Caesar's Deep! Deep! Dish does Detroit better than other chains (but again a local place is prob best).

Garnt's cockroach battle was honestly one of the most entertaining stories i've heard on this podcast, and it's not even really because of the story itself, it's because of the way he told it as some sort of ancient legendary battle that made it so goddamn funny
As an American working in the pizza industry, I can attest that American pizza is different from true Italian pizza. The reason is that they’re actually made differently. The kind of pizza the world as a whole knows was not invented in Italy. It was invented by poor Italians who had immigrated to America and, while still poor by the standards of many their more established neighbors, suddenly had access to ingredients they could never have found or afforded in Italy.
Is this some "world = USA"? In Europe "Italian pizza" is definitely dominant.
Pizza got popular in the US after WW2 as US troops tried Italian food and then after returning home they bought it from the Italian immigrants living in the US.
@@cyan_oxy6734 both of you are right and wrong and also, Europe doesn’t equal the world either. 4 million Italian immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th century arrived in northeast cities and brought with them the recipe of pizza as it was simple and cheap. It was already popular, but became more popular after ww2 and evolved differently in both places. By the way, Italians didn’t even invent pizza, the Greeks did

I find that D&D books are pretty optimal for whacking insects. Sturdy, light enough to swing fast, big surface area
In response to Connors take on stone baked pizza not having enough toppings, the reason they have a lighter amount of toppings is because the pizzas are typically extremely thin as to cook quickly in temperatures as hot as a stone oven can produce. They are also typically made with fresh mozzarella which lets out way more moisture then conventional supermarket mozzarella. Don’t know if anybody else said this, but I thought I would explain what I know!

Oh goodness, I'd love to see you react to this in a video 🤣
Trash taste special?
Simple baking is what I seem to be leaning toward. I have some bananas now that I'm waiting to get a little older to make another banana nut bread. My last one I mixed way too many times, causing it to become too runny. The top cooked faster than the inside (and foil over the top wasn't helping to slow it down). In the end, I had to pull it out too soon to avoid flat out burning the top (hindsight 20/20, I probably should've just sacrificed that portion).
This ended up leaving the middle too moist (I swear I didn't giggle when I wrote that...XD). I put it in an airtight container on the counter as I normally would and probably should've put it in the fridge. My last two or three slices molded over and given the fact that I had to stir everything by hand and it takes like an hour to bake...not getting to finish every piece hurt my soul 😂.
Worst part was, that was like my third loaf, with the prior two being perfect! I got cocky, thinking I remembered everything I needed to do and skipped a step or two, having to double back and causing me to over-mix the batter. Always read a recipe several times before even beginning, read reviews to know of any tweaks you might want to make, such as cooking time, less/more sugar, etc, and then go slow if the recipe allows it to ensure you don't miss anything.
The bananas should be soft enough tomorrow. I am ready 😎
I'm half German and for the first time in all the episodes I had an uncontrollable instinctive yelp/scream and was smacking my knee when Garnt said 90 percent of bread tastes the same. Great episode as always guys! Many laughs were had.

I could eat a full pizza and my parents still would be like that is just a snack
i as an Nepalese think without RICE lunch is not a lunch
I'd have to disagree on their take on rice. There is a difference. Joey is talking about prefectural variants of the same Short grain rice. There is a marked difference in Jasmine, Arborio, Basmati, and Pandan fragrant rice.
I legit can’t have any other rice except basmati, I’m sure there are superiors n stuff but I can tell the difference, VERY quickly
South East Asians are fuming rn lol. There are soo many varieties of rice that you could notice the difference just by looking at the size and shape - the long grained basmati being the best example
and parboiled, and risotto and wild rice... did I miss something?
@BrosInArms I hate any parboiled rice lol

Thank you, I scrolled to the comments looking for this. I wish they have the same self-reflective ability on food as they do on politics.
The title of this episode is so accurate
Hearing them talk about cooking reminds me of when I first started learning. I don’t like cooking for myself at all, but the moment I am cooking for someone else I will enjoy it but most of my cooking experience isn’t even recipes, it’s trial and error memory
Man this whole pizza thing is deffo personal preference and I love both but I do agree with Connor, I prefer thicker or heavier pizza over stone baked but I will never deny any pizza
Garnt is a shonen protagonist through and through. Man took an L because he was ill-prepared, went through a lasagna training arc and beat the final boss 😂
protagonist who act cocky after win some matches then get ass whoped by new mystery calm character
Should've used no-bake noodles and jarred sauce. You sacrifice 10% of the taste for like, +500% convenience.
Stop with this cringey and overused comment already.
The Hero we need
Joey's worst food take was a while ago, saying steak tastes like cardboard.
Or saying all chicken parts tastes the same
I'm still in pain from this one tbh
I'll never forget that lmao
Oh shit i just now remembered that and like having 'Nam flashbacks rn xD
I'm Italian and I made it through the end, I must say it was pretty hard and funny at the same time. Talking about pizza I think you should try some other kind of Italian pizza other than stone baked, you may find something interesting. I recommend some good old pizza al taglio bianca, it's seasoned with just salt and oil so we essentially use it like bread.
È focaccia?
As for pizza, I love a great thin crust pizza baked in a piping hot woodfire oven. The crust (when it’s fresh homemade ) comes out crispy on the bottom, the edge of the crust is crispy on the outside and fluffy and chewy on the inside. I love a fresh tomato base with a texture that tells me this isn’t purée from a can, it’s a sauce made from fresh tomatoes that’s been slowly simmered for hours.
Garnt:"I need a stronger taste"
Also Garnt:"I don't like condiments"
Garnt has no room to tell Connor he has no taste when he can't tell the difference between a baguette and a pretzel
He didn’t even consider pretzel to be a bread
@@lettuce1626 probably because he only knows those store bought pretzels which are really just crackers in the shape of a pretzel.
Wait pretzel is a type of bread?
Is PrEtZeL bReAD???
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse what did you think it was? Technically donuts are bread too. So are bagels.
I love the dramatic pause before dropping the pretzel bomb :D
Even after more than a year, this episode is still the best in my heart 🤣
for once garnt isn't being a clown when it comes to food
edit: nevermind just heard the bread take
ohh.... goddamnt i just heard it ..... i mean this is now personal
He was a clown already with the pizza take. Pizza in America was made by Italian immigrants. So they were all made by Italians.
Don’t forget the pizza take
Garnt has always been the foodie of the group. He has the most taste but also the biggest preferences. Joey is average in taste and I have no idea what Connor be doing
@@ostrichlord9097 arguing for content xD
I was so offended when Garnt said "All bread tastes the same." The German in me died today.
Oh man. I come back once every year for this legendary take
this is the first time i genuinely laughed in years trash taste is the best podcast
Connor: American pizza is better than stone baked pizza.
Garnt: A pretzel taste like a salty baguette.
Joey: All rice taste the same.
Germans, Japaneses and Italians: So the "Trash Taste" wan't clickbait.
Garnt should be exiled from the planet for his opinions. But, Connor does have a point. NY style pizza is superior and an overall better eating experience.
stone baked is great and all, but american style pan pizza is superior to all other pizzas
@@alextheguy6232 Detroit style pan pizza is my favorite type of pizza
@@TheKoalabear98 never had it, but it does look bussin. can't go wrong with any kind of pizza though
Joey: All Japanese Rice taste the same
Watching Garnt when Connor was talking about stone baked pizza and crust was everything. And Joey being there just to stop Garnt from exploding too soon was priceless. Man i love this podcast.
I ate Carlo's calzones and every topping is $1. So I had Pepperoni, Ham, Bacon, and Sausage. I loved it.
the transition from the lasagna arc to the cockroach arc was pretty smooth.
The lasagna story just proves what I already knew - That Sydney is absolutely best waifu, best girl, and Garnt absolutely picked the top tier keeper. She literally set up this whole elaborate redemption arc for her boy's cooking.
The part where she said "we are making the world famous lasagna" is like part of a movie
behind that mess of degeneracy and horny is one hell of a true friend. Three cheers for Syd and three more for Garnt.
It's amazing how Garnt's taste in food goes from "why aren't you eating your pizza crust" to "Yes different parts of the chicken taste different" back to "all bread tastes the same"
Garnt quoted a scene from scrubs right after killing the cockroach.
Turk to Carla "Do you see what you get when you mess with the warrior"
Respect!
also thank you for all the work you guys have been doing it's very awesome
long live trash taste
god save the queen
MyTake: Never knew that the "trash taste" goes on to food rather than anime. Hope they get a trash taste special about food they are debating.
At this, I would consider the episodes where they talk about anime as specials, and the food talk is their bread and butter per say
that's where "taste" on the title came from lol XD
Garnt was winning and then he just decided to shoot himself in the foot with the bread take
In his defence, as an Asia, bread is probably the most bland thing you can get. So it's hard to tell the difference between a bland and a slightly tasteir bland.
@@ishansharma2463 yeah true am also asian but like they don't taste the same when its good bread also just the pretzel take was just so bad
@@End0531 never had anything like that so can't comment 😂
South east asian here, agree with garnt
I had rewind the podcast a bit at that moment to be certain of what i heard. And as a french, i felt infuriated.
i liked the dislike bar as “controversiality meter” rather than good/bad meter of objective quality. the reasons for controversiality can be numberous, but I think its important to see in abstract. as audience tone.
this video took me 2 years to finish, wonderful vid
😭😭😭 dawg
@@dheerajjayaraj369it really was their worst food takes 🤷
This episode was just Garnt and Connor trying to say the worst opinion possible
As usual right? lmao
