I like how Conner thinks that expensive drip isn't made by children as well đ
I was thinking that the whole time him and Joey were arguing. It has been proven that a lot of the more expensive brands also use slave labor or don't pay their worker's anywhere near enough to justify the price tag. Unless I missed the part where they mention that they do their research before buying their clothing, they are being ignorant...
Yeah it depends on the company. Just do your research and you will be fine. Also the quality counts.
Yeah, I swear. They're funny but sometimes they really talk nonsense. Haha
man who gives a singe sh*t lol even Nike and Adidas have child labor producing their shoes
@@inuyashiki4301 Apparently Connor does which is why we brought it up. He kept using it as an argument against Garnt when it is false XD
a plain cotton tshirt has no business being 80 dollars. that's literally just the branding. as long as it's made of a good material and doesn't have messed up stitches, it won't get ruined in 3 wears. I own 10$ white tshirts ive had for 3 years and there is not a single stain in them. if you invest in quality deodorant, use a decent washing machine and detergent, all clothes are gonna be okay after a few wears. heck... wool, which is one of the most expensive fabrics gets ruined the easiest if you don't clean it properly. I have to agree with Garnt.
Exactly. Get some polyester or acrylic and you can bury that thing and dig it up years later and still be able to wear it. Natural fibers; silk, leather, fur, wool, etc. (natural fibers) are pain in the butt to take care of And store away and protect from bugsâŠbut damn I love âem. I get stuff at thrift store to afford quality items. I do have to invest time searching & caring for it but love how they feel.
I have t-shirts (that were overly large on me at the time) that I got in high school (00-04) that are still in one piece with no rips that I regularly wear. Sure the colors and prints are faded as hell, but the shirt held up just fine. One of them was a shirt that I wore over the course of a summer for a baseball team, including during games. It's still good.
A plain cotton t-shirt doesn't have any business being $80, you're right, that's insane, but don't dismiss all material as the same. A cotton dress shirt can feel like you're being embraced by god or trapped in an iron maiden depending on how the material is woven and how well made it is.
Simple outfits like T-shirts, you should spend a bit of money to have them be comfortable (I spend on average $20 per white T, and sometimes a bit more if I wanna look and feel nice because I noticed cheaper shirts are usually thinner and more easily stretchable in a bad way) but no more than like $30, but on higher quality outfits, you absolutely should splurge. I don't trust ANYBODY who spends less than $100 on a suit or $50 on a blazer, and that includes past me who for some reason bought a $35 blazer.
Also, as an addendum, it IS ok to have some clothes that are expensive. IF there is a reason for them, that justifies the price.
I have 80⏠boots and a 200⏠jacket. But not because of "the drip" or some shit, but because they're highly functional.
The boots are completely waterproof and last essentially forever. The jacket is also completely waterproof, extremely windproof, has zippers that close watertight, has adjustable bands everywhere and comes with a winter-jacket that you can fix on the inside and wear in sub -10° weather without feeling cold.
Meanwhile the pants I bought for $100, because I was in LA with no other shop around and I needed to get to a business meeting with clean pants, are absolute trash and 100% all marketing nonsense.
Garnt trying to transfer money to himself sounds like a cartoon episode. I can just imagine Garnt's face in a circle closing into a black screen as he realize that he could've just used his card.

broski everyone in the comments is the same; Garnt's right. Like when you look bomb af and just say the clothing are thrifted or affordable, that has to be the biggest flex one can have. It's so uplifting to both the person wearing the outfit and the person giving the complement cause you know you can replicate something similar at an affordable price. :D
If you rock up in a $20 and look fire, that's a flex and a half. High Fashion is more when you want all eyes on you the moment you enter the room, which isn't for everyone by a long shot.

Garnt's take on fashion is the best
Connor and Joey giving off big privileged energy, fast fashion and primark exists because a large demographic of people cannot afford to shop anywhere else - if everyone was rich enough to wear designer brands and tailormade clothes they WOULD
Then we come to them who can't buy the cheap clothes because they don't have any money and the cheap clothes aren't close by and by bying over the web you need to pay extra fees makes it so you need to buy brand clothes since they are the ones available
@Sierra It isn't any error, since for example where I live you actually cannot buy 'cheap' clothes, because since if you cannot go by bus to the town (20+k people) you can't buy clothes which isn't brandnames.
At least in my country where there's only used American clothing or cheap Chinese fashion ones in the long run is better to buy 1 quality item like I can still use my dad's Levi's and even with 3 sisters the whole family only use 1 closet
So I don't get people who constantly buy clothes and that's what makes fast fashion unfair too because if you have the money who cares if the shirt only last 1 wash you would throw it but if you have a tight budget is impossible not to agree that being poor is expensive

True
Fast fashion is so horrible for the environment
@@thomascampbell7503 not disagreeing but it exists for a reason. Not everyone can afford quality clothing. Even me who can be considered âwell offâ struggles when quality clothing is in question. Why spend $80 on a jacket when I can get 2 or 3 for $80.
The problem is that extremely low priced clothing is cheap because it comes at a cost to someone else (like Shein and child labor) and because of the poor quality, you get less use out of the clothing and it ends up being disposed of and is horrible for the environment

I want to mention how Joey has Anime Drip vids where he shows us "how to where drip the right way with confidence"... Some of his stuff does look nice and I can tell he likes the graphics for some of them but that one white shirt with the multi-colored button strip is dumb and is just "Price Tag = Drip". Especially the way he wore it in the school vid just looked odd (albeit I can also see the shorts being the issue).
The single most praised piece of clothing I have is a shirt I got in Chinatown in NYC for $6, which I know was still a rip off even though in Little Italy the same shirt was $13. Its a black shirt with an ironed on yellow smiley face with text that says "I hate you". It's not even centered on the shirt. And after wearing it for 5+ years and countless rinse cycles the face has just recently started to crack which makes it look like the face is losing it's mind on inside, to the point where I was asked, "Dude, that's so cool. Where can I get it?"
Drip is not determined by a price tag. Never has, never will.
ayo you mind sharing how that shirt looks with us lol
I don't know, if Joey's not wearing an anime tshirt he's wearing an anime bowling shirt. That seems to be his two fashion outfits.
Drip is quite literally determined by price, man. It comes from rappers and shit showing off expensive af clothing stuff.
The meaning has shifted to just being "good looking clothes", but you can't just say it has absolutely nothing to do with price when it absolutely started off as price statement.

1:31:00 I'm with you Connor. I also mostly remember how I felt about it but I usually don't remember the chronology. It's not that I've forgotten cause when I rewatch I know exactly what's going on and I recall everything that I felt while watching it.

In Toy Story 4âs defense, the movie was more about Woody learning how to be independent and letting go of being a childâs toy. Woody would continue to be stuck in the cycle of loving then eventually losing another child, i. e. Bonnie, to her growing up. By the end of the fourth movie, Woody has become a stronger character by learning that he doesnât need to be love and be loved by a child to be important.

Garnt's Japanese at 6:00 was so on point. Of course he didn't know the exact vocabulary for what he was trying to explain but he got his message across in the simplest way possible and the grammar was mostly correct. I'm surprised because I never heard Garnt speak Japanese so I thought he was near connor's level. Good job Garnt
So what would you rate Connor and Grantâs Japanese out of 10 ?
Why put the timestamp after your described scene? No sense
@@brandonscorner9184 I think Connor still does not have the basics down because he says sentences in the reverse order (for example in the latest apex video he would say "takusan teki" which means lots of enemies but using the English sentence structure which puts the describing word before the noun when it's the oposite in Japanese. Maybe he has more vocabulary but he is not confident about the correct way to use it yet (for example in Abroad in Japan hotel video he said 'kore wa heya gomi desu' which means literally This is a room garbage.' when trying to say this room is full of garbage/dirty.
Hard to rate their level because people are always improving but from those examples I would say Garnt 6-7 and Connor 3-5/10
@@user-du1vj3ro1j you implying teki takusan is what he shouldda said and that aint it m8
@UC0Etx8D491ccVRqowd2TX2wIf he wanted to say âthere are a lot of enemiesâ he would have to add a particle or something after teki like âtakusan no teki ga iruâ which strictly speaking wouldnât be the most grammatically correct way but still works and is used. Japanese speech has a lot of freedom so if you keep breaking down the sentence it could eventually become âtakusan tekiâ but no one ever says that and you can tell in the videos the people he plays with donât say it that way. In English it would be like âlots enemiesâ which obviously gets the point across but might be weird or unnatural
Edit: âteki ga takusan iruâ is what Iâm implying
Imagine when Connor finds out that a lot of expensive shit is, in fact, made in sweatshops and the price tag means nothing
Exactly. Look I like the podcast a lot, but watching it for a long time it's hard to ignore how much virtue signalling comes from Connor, and to a lesser extent, Joey.
@@PapperLapper I cant think of a single time Joey was virtue signalling in trash taste. Heck, even in this one he was sounding hella elitist during the end of the podcast.
yeah that was such a weird take on connor and joey's part
but most of the time, more expensive clothes do equate to better quality. I'm not saying hype brand like supreme, bape, assc, off white.... But more designer/high-end brands like yohji, issey miyake, cdg, libere, hombre, hysteric glamour, sophnet, cav empt, ect. Prime mark maybe cheap and has good quality but it's not ethically made because they can only do that by having low labour cost. Yes, not all expensive clothes are worth the price, you need to do some research but i'm sure there are much better if you can take the time and find them
@@PapperLapper Have you heard of trying to be a good person. Some people genuinely believe they can make a difference, they're not virtue signaling they're just naive. "I'm making a difference in the world by spending more" headass
Totally agree with Garnts reaction to the EVA ending (1:13:28) :,)
Even the part where you could not consume any other media because it all feels kinda empty and hollow.
But now I'm yearning for stories that can invoke a similiar feeling and complexity (Anime/Movies/Books). Any recommendations? :)
This is like watching a 2 hour classic film that stands out to you cause I have watched this episode 5 or 6 times and I am rewatching it again now.
Pretty sure it is naĂŻve to think that expensive clothes are produced ethically. I can practically guarantee you that even if the the price you pay is higher an extremely small percentage of the price difference is actually going to the people making the clothes with most companies. Also I have $5 tee shirts that I have been wearing for years so I think that while more expensive clothes certainly have the potential to last longer, that is no reason not to look after your cheap ones.
Maybe I am wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure fast fashion refers to the speed at which trendy styles are changing more so than the actual quality of the garments; people will replace their current outfits not because they are degraded to the point of being unwearable, but because they are no longer on the cutting edge of fashion, which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the actual price of the garments. To fight fast fashion we need to not only expect a higher standard of workmanship and responsibility in creation the clothes themselves, but also stand against the disposability of styles and try to find a more sustainable ideal of fashion that doesn't encourage the constant emergence of new styles.
Bernadette Banner has excellent videos on the topic if you're interested in finding out more
Yes, fast fashion is trash and a different level of unethical precisely because of the business model you've just described. Most brands drop 1 collection per season, Primark and Inditex might end up with monthly and even weekly catalogues. The plastic fibers and chemical fluids in the absurd ammount of clothing produced by fast fashion industry alone and the labor conditions are just a fucking disaster, do you even imagine how much does the worker get if the brand is able to get 8 tees for 10$ and still profit somehow? I really think you're kinda missing the point about branded clothes vs fast fashion. If you're buying cheap clothing, you're encouraging exploitation.
Big labels and high fashion brands certainly do have sweatshops too but the fabrics used, the manufacturing process and the periodicity at which most of their clothing is made, makes it a far less troublesome consumerism.
Ideally, the best would just be producing way less and just use and repurpose vintage clothing but you live in a capitalist market economy, realistically it won't ever happen, which is part of the reason why it is so hard to get a consensus on climate change policies since the most efficient ones would basically mess with profits and the comfort of way too many ppl.
That's what I also think about Connor's argument. Expensive things doesn't mean it was made ethically. Most of them are outsourced from countries that have very low labor cost and then they sell it in a very high price.
not to get political but theres no ethical consumption under capitalism
Excuse me but did you just call T shirts a "tee shirt"?
Bruh we've been scammed for a long time. We expected this to be an anime podcast and we got, weird as hell tangents, shit talk, and literal shit talk. (Not that I'm complaining about it. I welcome it)

Garnt mentioning toy story was so perfect god that franchise for me is my Eva like growing up with it and seeing the 3rd film when I was 11 and the last one at 21 I cried cause that was my childhood and that's something I can never get back but i wouldn't trade that feeling for anything else in the world
Okay, I don't know anything about Evangelion, but it was so entertaining watching them talk about it because you can just tell that Joey and Garnt are very passionate about it
Garnt is right about the drip once again. if it looks good, it looks good. it's drip. Supreme was indeed a fashionable brand for a stint in time. Joey and Connor will die on that hill haha
@Dynah Dixon Joey is always like that, it's his goal to never side with one of the bois no matter what. He'll twist his points in a way so that he's always right, cherry picking when to side with who.
Yeah. Supreme popularized the term "drip" in normie circles.
I'm disappointed in Joey and Connor! In the last 2 episodes, they actually had the dumbest takes - worse than Garnt's pizza comments.

When Rebuild 3.0+1.0 came out on Amazon, I did a watch party with a few friends. One of us was a die-hard EVA fan, I was pretty mid on it (thought the series was alright, enjoyed the previous Rebuild movies more than the show), one of us had binged the entire original series the night before, and one of us went into it completely blind.
The range of emotions and reactions experienced was all over the place, and it made for a great night. By the end of the last movie, I felt extremely satisfied and content. It gave me a newfound, retroactive appreciation for the franchise as a whole.
Connor is right about washing jeans. Denim doesnât need washing often. It was designed to be hard wearing and last for ages

Its actually kind of insane how denim doesnt smell bad after you wear it over and over again... anything else I own gets one use and then goes in the washing machine đ
Ever since I heard "Oh, I just added it cause I think it looked cool" over 2 or 3 years ago. I randomly think about it. So strange, and hear you guys are talking about it and me learning new details surrounding it.
can't exactly buy a 80$ clothing when you live in a third world country where the minimum wage in the big city is like 150-200$
It's also completely pointless to do so, the idea that the more expensive stuff lasts longer is a complete myth. If anything the more expensive stuff is less durable 'cause it's designed with people who don't do anything strenuous in mind
Damn Garnt is on a roll with destroying the boys with his takes

@@balabanasireti Didn't say he was wrong did I. It's just the same classic hipster pretentious bullet points that Eva fans have been saying for decades. You learn after a while to just smile and nod. @@neotagatg3238 Nah, it's a normal opinion and you don't get it so it automatically has to be "classic hipster pretentious bullet points." EVA was designed to not give definitive and one-sided answers and Garnt was talking about that fact. EVA not being a simple anime is its biggest praise and criticism. The reason it go so popular was because *people watched it again* and realized that you can see more in it if you watch it again. So of course every EVA fan is going to tell you that it isn't supposed to have answers and that you should give it another try. Garnt mentioned that and never said that Connor is wrong. Haha the story about Joey deleting the Kadokawa email is so relatable. Got selected for the Your Name themed COL Japan Initiative raffle and the email Kadokawa sent over looked super suspicious to me. A big part of it is because I never win raffles, but an equally big part is that the email's contents are presented in at least four different colors and font sizes. Best experience I've ever had in Japan though, so thank you Kadokawa.
Itâs not that they are pressured to dress nicely, they donât do it just to fit in. Itâs just that if you see someone dressed nicely it inspired you to dress nice yourself.
Grant has so much more drip expertise than the other boys.
connor is falling into the classic hypebeast trap, buying designer/hype shit doesn't automatically mean it is good style aka drip.
