Uruguay cut Canada to pieces at will in the first half. They took their foot off the gas after that. Canada has a lot of work to do on defensive improvements, but that is what these games are for. I hope Canada do well in Qatar.
In 2006, I said that Canada would be a good team in one or two decades because of immigration. I was not wrong and right now it's a beautiful and diverse team that reflects Canada.
@tiki taka Haha I never said they were unbeatable, the proof, Uruguay was the best team yesterday. However, I believe that Canada will finish ahead of Morocco during the world cup, mark my words. Plus, in 10 to 20 years, Canada will be a top 20 in the world, mark my words.
A reasonable performance, but you can see in the small moments where the quality isn't the same for Canada as top nations. As much we all love Milan Borjan, he always makes things a bit nervous, and the free kick goal was a disappointing one that had the look of being unprepared. The 2nd goal is unfortunate but nothing to hang our heads about - a combination of Luis Suarez and Darwin Nunez will convert goals against most nations, and it was a quality ball and very well finished. I felt Canada's organization and forward movement were quite strong, but the Uruguayans understood how to contain and limit chances. Canada have plenty of goals in them, but they are not yet familiar with that final piece of quality needed to convert goals at this particular level. And while Davies got a lot of praise from OneSoccer, I actually felt he was used poorly and was less effective in a more central position rather than attacking from the wing, and his touches just weren't tight enough to operate in those kind of spaces. Tajon Buchanan looked fantastic when he came on, and I can't wait for his healthy return - 90 minutes from him might have made a difference. Koné is also a player to watch.
Davies can’t play central just because he’s our “best player” might as well place him up front and drop David if you want an all out attack. He should be high on left side.
I love the positivity and the support and will be proud either way, but for us to get a consistently competitive national team investment needs to be made in clubs and a national league, I don't see any other way.
not to disapoint you but after Araujo Injury the Coach probably told the players to play calmly, because they were already winning and we don't want another injured player
People in this comments should only be focusing on the next game. JAPAN The pros do not have much time to dwell on "last night's results" nor should we the fans. Focus is key ... especially come WC
Canada is very very limited on what they can do.... their subs are just mediocre , and the 11 is just what's best available.... I don't see this Canadian team winning a single game in the world cup
as a Canadian , i can safely assume that Canada will get 3rd place in the group, there's no way Belgium and Croatia is going to fck up in that group. Belgium still has their golden generation for the last time, and Croatia still has tons of experience from last worldcup when they got to 2nd place. but gosh i would love for Canada just to get past the group stage by some freaking miracle or just all player give it their all in 3 games and then they can fail at round of 16 is fine lol
I don't understand why John Herdman sent Tajon Buchanan on the field at the last minute of the game? Did he want a defensive game? Canada earned their qualification because of their offensive quality.
The biggest worry I had for Canada coming into the WC was that they wouldn't play enough games against good teams. The FA is notorious for not booking enough games, and they've done it again. Hopefully the players will be ready for the tough teams.
Canada had No plan to Score. Just crossing the ball from the sides! Too much passing backward! playing 3-5-2 is wrong. The Uruguay team played 5-2-3.5 defenses, not 1 in the center!
Uruguay didn't have all the best players, in the back they missed Araujo, Gimenez, Coates and Godin, up front Cavani. Regardless very valuable experience for Canada.
with the latest results.. here i thought canada was going to perform much better than the other two regional countries.. but after this friendly.. boy.. Concacaf is gonna have a stinker of a representation.. I honestly thought the US and canada had actually gotten better, but it appears to me that Mexico has just gotten worse.. this sucks.
Canada dosn't have experience against european or south american power houses. They beat qatar quite easily because qatar has a similar experience level, but when you put canada against top tier teams they dont know how to change their game, the opening of this game canada was a bit confused and couldnt keep up, but they started to figure it out and played better. I really wish they could have got more games in with big teams before the world cup, id be perfectly fine if they tied and lost them all prior to the world cup so they learn from them then do better during the world cup. Ive followed all of canadas games, they have a great team this year but they just lack the experience. @@eliotrojimenez1797 Yeah, there are a lots of different chants for footballers. This song was literally made for football lol!
@@eliotrojimenez1797 Good luck in the world cup!
Canada needs to tighten up the defense. The team can score goals, but these are not Concacaf teams going forward.
Hopefully Canada can get some more practise, the potential is there.
canada is not a soccer nation in the world cup they are not going to beat anyone, better dedicate yourself to hockey
@@russiaexpansion8322 atleast we made the world cup 😂 i have faith that they'll get atleast 1 win
Good game by our Boys .
I didn't watch the game, but based on these highlights, looks like a close game, they should have scored at least one goal.
Canada hasn’t been to the WC in how many years? Don’t think they know what is in store for them. Don’t see them making it past group stage
I didn't even know Nuñez was Uruguayan 😂
That was a great head kick
This is a learning tournament for Canada. The'll learn that word cup class is not like the concacaf.
We did really well. It could have been a lot worse but really good chances and next time we'll give em a run for their money
Davies can’t play central just because he’s our “best player” might as well place him up front and drop David if you want an all out attack. He should be high on left side.
*So glad Canada lost since Canada mixes sports with politics. Congratulations Uruguay for defeating Canada.* ❤
I love the positivity and the support and will be proud either way, but for us to get a consistently competitive national team investment needs to be made in clubs and a national league, I don't see any other way.
The loss was expected, but we gotta think about the positive, we got possession and shot more then them.
not to disapoint you but after Araujo Injury the Coach probably told the players to play calmly, because they were already winning and we don't want another injured player
Suarez again shows he is more than a striker by showing his creative side.
Tough one for Johnston..
Well done really
reality sets in for canada . now your playing the big boys of futbol not the ones in Central America. good experience for them
I like what I saw. Let's GOOOOOOOO 🇨🇦 🍁
People in this comments should only be focusing on the next game. JAPAN
The pros do not have much time to dwell on "last night's results" nor should we the fans. Focus is key ... especially come WC
I heard Slovakia??
Canada is very very limited on what they can do.... their subs are just mediocre , and the 11 is just what's best available.... I don't see this Canadian team winning a single game in the world cup
Wasn't there an icing on that second goal?
"an encouraging performance"
as a Canadian , i can safely assume that Canada will get 3rd place in the group, there's no way Belgium and Croatia is going to fck up in that group.
What about Morocco?
@@rnprogamer2522 lol i almost forgot them , but hopefully Canada will prevail over them.

Looked good in most part but we need to be clinical at the end. Davies obviously not at the position he should be.
I don't understand why John Herdman sent Tajon Buchanan on the field at the last minute of the game? Did he want a defensive game? Canada earned their qualification because of their offensive quality.
Hello 👋
it's his first 5 minutes of match time since his injury in July...
@@nguyenproas you absolutely right
It's okay we let Uruguaya win
They were literally against Suarez and Nunez and legends like that canada did really well
Legends XD
@@MagicMike_101 suarez isn't a legend? Fucking idiot
Nunez is a legend??
And Suarez is old, but you have a point.
Would have been nice to see the foul that caused the free kick for the first goal.
Hope we do better next time
Poor wall on the first goal. Canada need to have a better finishing if they want to compete with quality teams.
No "poor wall"...
Normal wall...
Golazo of the Uruguayan player
The Canadian Storm isn't done yet 🇨🇦
canda is not a soccer nation in the world cup they are not going to beat anyone, better dedicate yourself to hockey
The biggest worry I had for Canada coming into the WC was that they wouldn't play enough games against good teams. The FA is notorious for not booking enough games, and they've done it again. Hopefully the players will be ready for the tough teams.
Canadian football baby ⚽⚽⚽⚽
I didn't see the game but it seems Canada played better in the second half.
By the way, Iran beat Uruguay 1-0
Canada had No plan to Score.
Just crossing the ball from the sides!
Too much passing backward!
playing 3-5-2 is wrong.
The Uruguay team played 5-2-3.5 defenses, not 1 in the center!
Despite the result I'm happy with our performance.
Go team Canada!!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁!!!!
Uruguay didn't have all the best players, in the back they missed Araujo, Gimenez, Coates and Godin, up front Cavani.
Regardless very valuable experience for Canada.
*If they did have their best players, it would have been 7-0. So, lucky for Canada.* 😁😁😁😁😁
De La Cruz and Canobbio are also bench players
What a cross by Suarez
Embarrassing coverage one soccer. Thanks for messing up the feed for everyone who pays for your service. Not acceptable
with the latest results.. here i thought canada was going to perform much better than the other two regional countries.. but after this friendly.. boy.. Concacaf is gonna have a stinker of a representation.. I honestly thought the US and canada had actually gotten better, but it appears to me that Mexico has just gotten worse.. this sucks.
Not great, but not a disaster for Canada. Lessons can be learned.
Go Canada 🇨🇦
On a different day, if Canada scored more than Uruguay they would win.
Well... that would stand to reason, no?
Good wake up call
what the hell is piete doing on this national team.
I like this chanel
Canada dosn't have experience against european or south american power houses. They beat qatar quite easily because qatar has a similar experience level, but when you put canada against top tier teams they dont know how to change their game, the opening of this game canada was a bit confused and couldnt keep up, but they started to figure it out and played better. I really wish they could have got more games in with big teams before the world cup, id be perfectly fine if they tied and lost them all prior to the world cup so they learn from them then do better during the world cup. Ive followed all of canadas games, they have a great team this year but they just lack the experience. I think they'll surprise people during the world cup, people think theyll be pushovers and an easy win but i think perople will be surpried.
Even Iran beat Uruguay last week. Canada and US suck
i think u guys will be surprised Lol
First time playing a real team. Not bad, but can be better. Canada, please do something about broadcasting these games. OneSoccer is a shame!
Nice editing 😂
Rough first half for the canucks. Really ugly defending. We were much better in the 2nd half, and could argue we almost deserved to claw a goal back
After this match, I see that Canada will be eliminated from the first group, this is Morocco, we are waiting for you
nunez-- suarez--- cavani--- valverde💪💪💪
Anyone else throw up in their mouth looking at that formation. Davis is the middle 🤣 please learn from this
