@@NSLUploader true, but VFC does have to compete with the 'Caps, an as a result they have one of the lowest attendances in the CPL. I don't think the CPL should try teams in and around the major cities.

​@@appletree13somewhat disagree. I think there are plenty of GTA cities and Toronto neighbourhoods that could support a team. It just has to be done right. I can't speak to the same for Montreal or Vancouver as I don't know the intracacies of their cities, but I'm sure it's possible. Ultimately, with 40% of the country's population and probably an even greater share of the country's soccer fans, the GTA and Southern Ontario will have to have more teams. And I think this evolution will spark the intense rivalries that the league needs to progress. The CPL won't be able to function like the National Lacrosse League with Mickey Mouse team names in vehicle cities. It will have to become more global style, a la London with multiple clubs, or Sydney and a Melbourne with their umpteen NRL/ARL teams.

@@GrahamLT Wider Ontario I agree. Fake London needs a team, as does Windsor (and a couple other mid-size cities). I meant in the immediate area. Just outside Montreal is fine, providing that it doesn't go under the Montreal name, just as York FC is their own team but play in a suburb of Toronto. You're probably right about Toronto tbh, given as I've never been. Besides, only Toronto really has the population to do that. I can't speak for Montreal either, given that I've also never visited, but Vancouver doesn't really have the population and density to support that at the moment. Like I said, VFC have to compete with the Caps, but VFC play in Langley, which is far out from most of the population centres, meaning people will have to travel quite a bit for an argurably worse team. Now that will change slightly with the eventual finishing of the Surrey-Langley Skytrain, but the problem remains. Apologies if this is incoherent or contradicts itself, it's 10:30pm when I wrote this and I've had a long day 😅

Thing is… just like with league 1 Canada and now it’s new… we forget that CanPL is still relatively new. It’s still finding their style of play (which I think is improving) the branding is done right, doing a good job of attracting local talent and bringing them to a professional stage. It’s about time we have a stage for ourselves instead of having to share or being outshined in every way by the Americans. We just gotta keep believing in CanPL the same way Americans believed in MLS in their early years and believe me… MLS was not good compared to now.

@@killermon117 um I really don't understand what that has to do with my comment ??? all I did was mention the current level difference for League1 teams facing someone in the Can Champs.... but since you wanna go there, CPL will never be as big as MLS my guy. US population is 333+million people, the market, supporters, investors are just 100x bigger potential. Canada has a population of 39m, it will never compete with the MLS on that scale. Its like saying the Scottish league can be just as big as the English Premier league... LOL its not happening.. CPL will have the potential to have 2-3 really good teams in North American level but thats about it.. there is simply not enough investment potential in a country of 39m to compete with a country of 333m. Thats basic business and economics. You can dream all you want but dream for your own things... you can't dream about things that are 9.9/10 out of your control.. and denying the market size of Canada vs MLS is just delusion.. its completely out of anyones control.

@@sowaveysuyat that’s the thing, not every game in domestic cup competitions will be equal. This goes for Concacaf champions cup too. It took a long time for an MLS team to even compete with an Liga MX club. You’re expecting waaay too much from a league that just pretty much started off not too long ago. If you want to complain about shit soccer, go watch the Canadian soccer league. That’s something to rant about.

I didn't watch it, but I'm assuming there was an injury in extra time. Of course, that board showing the extra minutes just means that is the minimum they will play, with the ref allowing additional time for whatever non-football stoppages there are.

terrible coaching/coaches or management (soccer usually uses term manager). Scouting has been absolutely terrible. We had an awful season last year, but kept none of the good players (De Brienne and Yesli are now on Ottawa!) We kept Haynes and Samake as Defenders...terrible, not sure about this other CB, but he looks unbelievably atrocious. But, this game, all our players must have been incredibly horrendous! (I only saw the 'highlights'). Again, this game is enough to say that the team needs a complete overhaul...
