Thanks for the instructions I haven’t been able to use my remote for over 1-1/2 years, changed the battery but still wouldn’t work, then i found this video and now my remote is working again!!
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post that video. Worked like a charm, even on my very old, one button remote. I'm back in business and it saved me the time and hassle of an expensive service call.
Thanks a lot! My garage door opener fell from my car when I got out one day and it stopped working. I figured I had to reprogram it and didn’t know how to do that. This video was very useful and show me how to do it. Thanks!
@@GenieCompany Why can the remote not be held too close to the head unit when programming? What will happen? How far away must it be during this process? Thank you
1. Press square button on opener 2. long flashing purple led 3. Press button on remote 4. Light turns solid 5. Press button on remote again 6. Lights flash blue 7. Press and release button on remote - door should open
Great video. Saved me $35. My remote stopped working and I replaced the battery and it still wouldn't work. I then reprogrammed it by this video and it now works. Thanks for making this informative video.
@@GenieCompany I can't get the remotes to open the door , they only close it and I followed the instructions to a T in this video. Any advice would be helpful , maybe I'm missing something. But the wall control works fine , but you have to hold it until the door opens all the way and the same thing when closing it. Not sure if that's correct either?
Thank you very much!!!❤️❤️🚙🚙. It worked!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽. I just recently moved into my new house with a Genie garage door without a Genie Remote!🤣🤣. Had to order the remote from Amazon 🤣🤣
My buttons are different than this video. I have the buttons on the very back of the Box and pointed away from my door. There is a chain going to and from the door.
Thanks, here to confirm this is still helpful. My remote wasn't working as well so I changed the battery, then it stopped working at all! I could tell from my tinkering that it was still communicating with the opener but it wasn't making it actually open from the remote. Woke up early to try to figure this out and tried this again more patiently and voila! Fixed! Might still have the old battery in it now though, but maybe it needed to be reprogrammed anyway. Thanks!
ATTN: Be sure to set the travel limits before programming your remote. The opener will not allow your remote to work until this is done. We lost power, a week ago, and it de-synced with my remote. I tried to program the remote, at least 20 times (it was actually successful, each time) before realizing that I had to also go back and reset the travel limits. Cheers!
My remote stopped working. I changed the battery and still doesn’t work. No I am trying to reprogram the control but when I push the square bottom I don’t see any light turning on. I don’t know what else to do?
Hopefully this helps someone, someday. I have a Genie PowerLift 900, model 2562. When following the instructions here *exactly* as directed and seen in the video, there was no purple flashing light when I released the square button. Just a solid blue light. The unit refused to go into programming mode. I searched for hours, reading/watching at least 10 different remote programming guides, including the official user's manual. I eventually (accidentally) stumbled upon a set of instructions where step 2 included an "oh, by the way, if it stays blue...." clause. *2) The long purple LED light will start to blink purple. (Note: if the blue light stays on, go to instructions for Intellicode III below)* Very strangely, the section it refers to was titled: *For Genie IntelliG, TriloG Series built from 2009 until July 8, 2011 (Intellicode III)* (see serial # on front: first 2 digits = year, next 3 digits = day of the year) Well, _none_ of that is relevant to the product I have. The only thing that seemed to match was the part in step 1 that says "The blue light should stay lit." And here is the rest of step 1 for anyone else in my situation: *Press the square button once more and release. The long and short LED lights should start to blink purple.* Sure enough, simply pressing the square button one more time after the solid blue light did the trick. So simple, yet so frustrating.
When I hold down the program button the long and round LED turn blue. I have to press the program button again to get it to flash purple. If I don't it just times out.
Hopefully it’s going to be this easy for me to program my remote. My garage door opener was put on in 1992, and the remote that came with it just died, and the replacement remote is exactly like the one in the video. The instructions that came with the remote make the programming sound so difficult because Intellicode 1 and intellicode 2 are referred to in the instructions, but the manual for the door opener doesn’t specify which program the opener has. And, it refers to the light being red, and not purple. Keeping my fingers crossed that I have it this easy.

My dad's opener is an older model. Only one program button, use program button#1 on the remote and follow the instructions. Work just fine. Thank you.
This was the only video that helped me out after I tried about 10-15 other videos and my owners manuals for the car and opener. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you Genie for the instructions. Got it right the first time.
Thanks for the helpful information. After following the steps you provided, my remote is now back in service🤗

Superhappyyoshis,
1:30 is not exactly "a lot of time." It is time saved though. If millions of people watched it, it would be a lot of time.
Excellent, thank you!. I hate listening to all the BS on videos before the actual instruction starts.
1. Press square button on opener
2. long flashing purple led
3. Press button on remote
4. Light turns solid
5. Press button on remote again
6. Lights flash blue
7. Press and release button on remote - door should open

HI - the remote likely needs to be reprogrammed to the garage door opener. Please follow the programming steps in this video to get it working again.
I took my laptop with me to the garage and followed each step as the video played. I think I had reprogrammed my remote in about 30 seconds.
