I am going to reset all mine now. I just bought my house. Woman only gave me 1 remote. (Makes me wonder where her husband's went). She is recently widowed.. Too many people helping her had keys and code to garage.
I feel ok doing this. You just saved me peace of mind, A Lot Of MONEY. I was ready to replace opener.
Got my Tesla's homelink feature working because of this. Now my car automatically opens the garage door as I drive up to my driveway. Thanks!
Quick anti-theft tip. After I restored a classic racing kart, thieves broke in to my garage and took it-leaving a couple $25K motorcycles untouched. Huh? Anyway, they broke in by drilling a hole in the garage door, and then pulling the garage-door release cord using a hooked coat hanger or something similar. The fix: just clip off the silly red barrel hanging from the cord. You'll still be able to release the door from inside, but thieves won't be able to hook the barrel and open the door.

to do more than one Remote take the second remote and click it 3 times while the door opener is in that 30 second window mode. I could not make them configure simultaneously, it has to be one at a time. Thanks for the video!

This is exactly what I was wondering. My second remote is lost/stolen but how do I know that it no longer works? So just to clarify, any additional remotes need to also be clicked within the same 30 second reprogramming period right? If you did the second remote in a later 30 second period, the first one would then be de-activated right?
@@barryinciong6822 how do I know that it no longer works? You dont, i would say it would still work because the batteries seem to last quite awhile. any additional remotes need to also be clicked within the same 30 second reprogramming period right? thats a safe assumption.

Genie says specifically not to use an extension cord to power your unit. But great video. It helped!
Yes, you want to use an extension cord that matches or exceeds the amp rating for safety. An undersized cord could potentially be a fire hazard. This garage wasn't built with a dedicated outlet for the garage door opener.

Worked great! I needed to remove all programmed remote on my very old Genie garage door opener because my wife’s SUV that had its Homelink programmed to operate it was totalled and was taken away. However, it seems that that Homelink still occupied one of the spots in the limited number of programmable spots bec when I program our new SUV’s Homelink to work, the remote wireless wall pad will not work and when I reprogram the wall pad, the SUV’s homelink does not work. So I thought I needed to remove all programmed devices and start fresh and thanks to your video, all the programmable devices now work.
Quick question, how did you program your Genie garage to your truck, ive tried different ways but nothing seems to work. I have a Genie just like the one on the video and my truck is a 2020 sierra, please help
@@le0725 I followed my new SUV’s Homelink programming instructions. At first it didn’t work but it turns out my garage opener has a rotating code so there were additional steps to do for it. Can’t remember off the top of my head what I did but it was all in the instruction manual for the car.

Do I have to reset/errase all programed remotes first, then program? I can’t just program an additional remote? I just wanted to add a third remote, but it doesn’t seem to program a third one.
Reprogrammed mine, Like you said. Cleared the codes then pressed the remote 3 times. After that, when I press the remote button the red led on the opener flicker but the opener won't come on.
By using the wall switch is the only way the opener will work.

I have a Genie model H6000A. One remote is jammed and no longer usable. I have a new Genie remote. When I push the learn button, the red light does not illuminate. When I push the button on the new remote, the learn red light blinks about twice a second while the remote button is depressed and goes off when the remote button is released. However, the new remote does not work to operate the opener. This is the issue I wish you would have addressed.

What remote did you use?
This may be a dumb question, but does it matter which of the buttons you press 3 times? Because before I replace my battery, the left one would open my garage...you pressed the middle button to open yours

I purchased two after market remotes (so my kids have one each for their cars) which are compatible to my Genie garage door opener (old style 1997-2005) Excellerator. When I program the new remotes, the keypad no longer works but the new remotes do. When I reprogram the keypad, the NEW remotes no longer work. The two older remotes are not effected. I erased the keypad memory by holding the, PRO, #6, and up/down arrow. This did not work either. I did NOT erase the memory on the unit yet by holding down the LEARN Button. Any Ideas?

Same problem. Bought a new keypad because I could not get the one one that we have had for some time to work. Put it up and followed the programming, and it was working just fine. But then, since it quit working, I thought the remote in my wife's car had gone bad. So I bought a new one. Followed the programming, just about like your directions, and it worked really good. But then the keypad quit working. So I reprogrammed the keypad and the remote quit working. I can't seem to get everything working all together. Is there any solution?
@@edwardmurray2958 I believe I had to erase the memory stored on main unit. Can’t remember exactly how but type in your brand & model for instructions. This worked for me and I have four remotes and the keypad all working together.
Actually I just read my old response, I had to hold in the LEARN button to reprogram everything…good luck
