Clearing Trails with the Echo ppt 2620 Pole Saw | Pole Pruner Features You'll Want

- Here I go again. I'm trying to wrangle-in my over-grown trail system today on my acreage with the help of a new friend. This friend doesn't require any supervision and doesn't ask for much. This friend is a high-revving 2 stroke engine paired to a extendable pole with a chainsaw chain at the end. Today I'm clearing trails with the Echo ppt 2620 pole saw and giving you my 2 cents on the features that lead me to buy this over the other leading brands. With so many trees around my property I often found myself limited in how I could cut back limbs that often hang down and hit myself or my equipment. Up until now I had to cut the tree down in order to remove the limbs if they were that bothersome. No more! With the addition of a pole saw to my lineup of power equipment, I'm not able to walk my trails and clear back branches easily. Since I'm brand new to using a pole saw, I'll take you through my first impressions of this pole saw and let you know if I'm as happy with it at the beginning of the video as I am when I'm done cutting some wood with it.

Wow! After reviewing several other pole saws, we decided to purchase this one after seeing your video review. It arrived this week and after the first use, I was amazed at how well it worked! It is extremely well built and I look forward to getting a great deal of use out of it.
Thanks for the recommendation Sandy!
Glad to hear it’s working out for ya Tom
@@sawingwithsandy And guess what.. You can get a 4 foot extension for the thing as well that will make it something like 15 feet long.. I an totally convinced that this is the pole saw for me too and shall be getting one myself [from the UK where i live..]
Thanks for a good, honest review. I'm sold!
Anytime
I would give anything to have a place that serene.
I have the same engine but on the Echo PAS system and it has been very reliable for the three or so years I've had it. It's the commercial engine of the fleet now. I just recently purchased the pole saw attachment for mine, which, combined with the 4 ft extension gives a decent 11 ft reach. I used it around the property we rent and if you are cutting limbs more than 2 inch diameter, cut a relief notch underneath about 1/3 of the diameter then cut through the top, it helps negate binding. Try to cut long limbs back in sections, but that's all I can give for tips. Also, it's a good idea to have the appropriate protective equipment like a chainsaw helmet and eye googles to keep sawdust out of your eyes and to protect you from falling limbs.
I have a echo weed eater with a pole saw attachment I've had it for a year and a half. I found when I start at the bottom and go up it works better. I found when I started at the top the bunch up as they fall. I love my echo.
Just a man and his Echo pole saw. That's a great day.
Sandy it sure looks to be a well built unit. It will get a lot of use as soon as storm season comes around, with wind and ice like every other year. Thanks for the review All the best PHIL M
Yeah I figured that much as well. Storms are nice to watch but do they ever keep me busy with the cleanup. Hope all is well at your end
Great stuff man!! Keep em’ coming!!
Thanks Jeffery
That's a great pole saw you got there. Even at the 8' shortest length, it cleared a good amount up the trees at the trail edges. It helps that it starting from waist height. I would think that if you walked your trails every couple months and trimmed them back you'd would be in great shape. You are also now getting a good source of wood chips if you clean up all the branched that were trimmed off.
These are great, had one for awhile, sometimes use it with the extension and at full extension, pays to be strong and rest regularly so there's no rush, that's when mistakes could happen.
Thanks for tuning in Jimmy!
I bought one today for the exact same purpose, limbs hanging down in my trails. I'm like you I have a lot of trails. Very good review.
Thanks for that and hope you enjoy your saw
Another great video. I’m just a hobbyist with sawmill and things and your channel is super informative. Thanks a million
Great to hear that Lonnie!
I have a saw like your's that I use to prune a plantation of 3000 white pine trees to a height of 16 feet. The goal is ultimately to have mature trees without knots (imagine the quality of the boards!).
Tips: Pruning must absolutely avoid injuring the tree. It is important to cut the branch close to the trunk, leaving the growth pad which will allow scarring after cutting.
It is easier to cut the branch from below and go up. We have better control and this prevents the branch from falling before the end of the cut and pulling the bark from the trunk.
On larger branches, cut it 9 inches to a feet from the trunk first and then cut it close to the trunk.
A good harness helps you work longer without getting tired. Stihl manufactures excellent ones. They are a bit more expensive but they are very comfortable and well worth the cost.
A good hard hat with ear protection and visor as well as safety glasses prevent debris from falling on the head and in the eyes.
Always work safely.
Have a nice day!
If you go up fron underneath as you say, how do you stop the saw from getting pinched??
On larger limbs ,if you make a under cut before you cut on the topside of the limb, it will stop the limb from tearing the bark on the trunk allowing infection from getting into the tree. good luck.
I like your new video today you did a really good jop
great review amigo!
Have had a 14ft PPT260 or 265 for 10 years, I got it used. Use the heck out of it a 3 ac wood yard. it is awesome, but does get heavy after a couple hours of use! LOL. Also have a Echo Top Handle saw and tail handle and PAS280 with saw attachment (great for brush and lower trimming)
Clean shop, and might as well start addition ya gonna be full soon
haha isn't that the truth
I have one and love it. It has the reach too.
I also got an electric one with an extension, I use it more than the gas model.
Its lighter than the echo too.
I think an electric would be good as an option too if I had power more available
Nice video Sandy, however, that price.. Ouch.... Bill Smith, which electric pole saw do you have? I'm in the market.
good to hear that you had good luck with it man. Mine after 30 min of use probably spun the bevel gear and as of now the chain wont spin.
Appreciate the review. Looking to buy one if I can find it. No local dealers have them at this time. Had a storm come through a couple of weeks ago that blowed the tops out of several trees. Lots of broken limbs that are still hanging in the trees. Been needing a pole saw for several years but have a good excuse to buy one now. I have a 770 Echo backpack blower that has been an excellent piece of equipment. Starts every time on the second pull. The pole saws here in Missouri are around $500.00. Nice place you have there.
I've got the echo PAS system. same powerhead but allows different attachments. i use the pole saw and powerbroom the most. But i have edger and brushcutter for it.
I have those same attachments and I also have the articulating hedge trimmer, blower and the pro-sno attachment.
Have same pole saw it works fantastic.
Great honest review. Was looking g at this model or stihl but you’ve got sold on this 2620. Hoping my local dealer has in stock. Because I know these aren’t in stock at Home Depot. J J from mass.
Bravo, sir! We’re sold! Thanks! 🐻
Thanks for watching!
The D handle will save your hand if a limb slides down the shaft of the saw too.
THat's a good point too
I have one of these sticks saws I've had it for 2 years there are a lot of jobs I could not have done without it it was a great investment yes it is not cheap but if you want good stuff you got to pay for it and this is one tool that's worth the money I have done some unbelievable cutting with it if you don't have one of these I strongly encourage you to get one it and as you know Echo offers a 5-year warranty for Homeowner and 2 years on professional-grade stuff get one before the price increases I gave 610 from mine was it worth it? Yes it was
Hey there buddy how you doing? That looks like a wonderful new tool I was looking at 1 similar to that made by Stihl at the chainsaw shop I just don't have enough to justify the expense yet but it sure would be nice to have one be safe and thanks again for all that you do I have learned much from you God bless you and yours
I’m doing good thanks. Hope the same for you.
✍🏽Do it right the first time...Buy Good the first time
✍🏽 I have the Husqvarna Pole Saw and the motor is running but the chain not moving...they are thinking carborator issue... used to keep the tree limbs off the house.
🎬 1 📽 🎞 🗣 🎙 🗺 🌎🌍🌏 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review❗️ Outstanding, thank you so much for sharing.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I Love watching 🤔🧐 👁👁 👍🏿 👩🏾💻 Good demonstration, ✅✅✅✅✅ One Journey🗺🌎🌍🌏Let's Make It Count❗️
what was the issue?
Clean the shop now!.... Lol
Great video, thanks
hahah thanks Joe
Save the shop for a rainy day or if the "Honey-do" list gets tooo long. Enjoyed the video. You are right.......can't find a lot of negative comments with this unit. Was thinking about buying Stihl but this seems a No-Brainer.
Yeah those lists sure do grow quickly don't they
I have one of those need to now how to install that
Would you still recommend Echo 2620 pole saw ?
😎
Never clean the shop. A cluttered shop is a sign that things have been getting done.
Other than actual tools. They all have a home.
haha I hear that Matt
I have 2 miles of logging roads thru my 120 acres. I need a pole saw to get rid of overhanging branches that hit me in face while on tractor.
May have to get creative to mount this to the tractor
Did you clean it yet?
Same bar size aals my echo climbing saw is why I want it.and it's weight the sthil is 17 pounds.?however concerned about that shaft breaking, in the truck or while traveling.it has a regular size bar chain.for 12 inches bit sthil has narrow kerf' pruning xhain bar.1/4 pitch ..and more power but this seems like best for removals sake' and it's 150.p00cheaper.
Have you cleaned the shop yet?
What can you say after 2 year with this pole saw???
Still love it
I would buy another one just like it❤ yes I would 100%
I better order mine before they're all gone after the tornados in Kentucky/Tennessee
You may be right!
Won’t tell you to clean the shop, but, will say this, don’t start another project until you clean the shop 😂
Haha
My driveway is a km long with trees on both sides, its like a jungle, lots of branchs that overhang or side brush vehicle’s if you don’t stay in the middle. That Echo 2620 looks pretty awesome, can you do a follow up review after your done your trails? Would like to know how it runs after its broken in.
Sold, I have to have one. We own 1,500 ft of road in the woods to our camp. Early snow we get the canopy of bent branches and trees. Pruning is a big pia.
That sure would be a chore
Done, have it in the tool shed. Thanks for the great review, it sold me. Love this great tool.
Clean the shop!
Or extend an invite for a weekend and I’ll come up and help you for the opportunity to learn from your skills.
Thanks Gregory!
What state is this?
Ontario
Update?
Still works great James
How’s the saw doing now? Would you buy it again?
Still going strong! I’d buy again
@@sawingwithsandy Sweet. Just ordered one!
Enjoyed the VIDEO, but I live in Florida with palm trees in my yard. I would really like to learn more about the 4' EXTENSION, how it attaches or affects the operation of the 2620.
When the pole saw is extended all seems to work well I find
clean the shop
I need that reminder about every two weeks haha. Thanks for watching Kenneth
