  • I have had this #echo PPT-2620 #polesaw for several months and just opened it. In part one here I unbox the saw and check out how it looks. In the second part I'll be putting the Echo pole trimmer to work!
This is what I learned from browsing around the big bad Internet, using my own noggin and/or talking to friends. Take any information I provide as that, information. You must make decisions based upon your own research. And, as always, I am open to input from others to help expand my knowledge!

Aww man you left us hanging - LOL. My favorite pole saw is a Silky Hayauchi mounted to 6 foot Jameson fiberglass pole sections. I also have the lopper. 3 sections gets wobbly and hard to handle. But I pruned dead limbs from my weeping cherry tree to reinvigorate it's full beauty using it. Loved that tree on my previous property. The 6 foot extensions are great for snagging vines or rose bushes from a safe distance on my current rural property.

I uploaded the "first use" video earlier today and will make public tomorrow. I read some folks will flag you if the subtitles are not there, which is not something we have control over. CZcams takes time to process those so I like to give videos 24 hours before making public.
I used to use a Ryobi 18v pole saw, it was fixed length around 8' or some such. That gave out years ago and I have been using manual Fiskers pole saw with teh lopper at the end of a rope for about five years now. I used to get a few limbs done and be flat wore out. I will say this thing is a BEAST :)

Also, I am trying to not have really long videos. Some folks may want to see unboxing and assembly, others may want to see the first use. But, I have learned that very few want to watch a 30+ minute long video :)

It was time for my "Covid look" to go away :)

So glad you got the pole saw. Judicious trimming can create a healthier forest with longer lived trees and more tree product. Trimming the suckers and smaller limbs and those that drop and interfere with general access pays benefits. Consider a can or two of pruning seal to protect the cut.

Agreed. I try to get things cleaned up but it is a lot of work to recover a property which was not really maintained well then for my first 10 years of ownership I did not have the time to do much. Now I am behind the curve trying to get all caught up while also working my day job :)

@@tlchomestead Your progress is very evident. Come spring you will see a new beauty to the acreage. Rome was not built in a day. Plan the work. Work the plan. I enjoy your approach and equipment choices. You are a wholistic agro engineer. Study, learn apply, remember the deviations, rinse and repeat. I don't think you are far off the curve for first time Ventrac ownership. Especially with all the Cat 5 hills and woody pulp weeds and the trees. Belts are cheaper than metal and youi will get longer and longer life spans.

Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words. When I bought this place 12-13 years ago I knew it would be work but I wanted a place of my own. I used to live many hours away so I only had maybe one week here every four months. I did not know what I was doing, I did not really have any tools, man oh man, if only I had recorded the silly things I had done back then people would REALLY laugh at me. How many folks try to tow a 4' Swisher behind an ATV to mow a 10 acre pasture? I am trying to learn as I go and trying to share honesty. Not just the 'good times' but also things which did not work. Maybe, just maybe, someone else may save some time or money from my experiences,

Time to clean myself up after a couple years of going for the "Covid Look" as my family said. I was simply curious what would happen if I let hair and beard grow. Welll.... I look like a homeless person :)

Good call! I did look and there is a little filter inside the tank. I thought it was a weight to always pull fuel line down to the fuel but maybe the filter is there to do both? Seems logical to me.

Do yourself a favor not trying to be a know-it-all just figured I would say something, And to anyone reading this you don't need to run your equipment at 50 to 1 oil gas ratio. Do yourself a favor get some AMSOIL Saber 2 stroke Oil You mixed it 80 to 1 Or 100 to 1 I Run 80 to 1. The motor runs cleaner Les scsmooth coming from the exhaust. Is no cloud following you around. Is and the motor runs better with it. I know 80 to 1 sounds crazy. I run it in all my $1800 Stihl chainsaws. Is no problem they run perfect...

Heh, I had to watch this video again to figure out where the know it all comment came in. I simply spoke what seemed logical or what was read in the manual for the setup. I think this was far from a know it all presentation on my side. Matter of fact from my point of view it seemed quite obvious I was simply walking through the manual and several places admitting lack of knowledge.
And, I am actually looking for a local Amsoil dealer. There are two places I found so far but neither carries the weight I need for the Ventrac. Guess it is time to mail order. Ohh well.
