      I had to buy medium profile utg rings with the rail pin! So that the scope does not slide back, it works amazing! You want to make sure that you drive that pin all the way down! And it will be okay! Maybe put some blue lock tite on the pin threads. That may be controversial but that’s what I did and I haven’t had any issues with mine staying on point!

    While the barrel is cocked you can pivot the magazine up and see whether there's a pellet in the chamber. That gives you a greater measure of safety. Another way is run a 2 foot length of stiff weed trimmer line down the barrel, OR even drop in a .177 caliber BB down the barrel.
    I force myself to leave the gun uncocked while I check target until I'm ready to fire the next shot. If I get out of that habit is allows a double feed once in a while.
    I recently discovered that same pellet gives me the smallest group so far. I need to consistently hit inside a dime diameter dot at 60 feet. I think I'll have to use a PCP to get that size group.

      Paired with the right pellets, it’s amazing for hunting small game. Get some of those gammo rockets or some h&n terminator rounds. It will obliterate the squirrel. Also i like to zero my scope with each different pellet that I shoot out the gun. They all weigh different and are shaped differently, which causes the trajectory of each round to change even if it’s the slightest amounts. So I would suggest you break the gun in, and practice and zero with the pellet that you plan on hunting with!

    Sight in springer
    Find the balance point of the rifle with your off hand. Then lay that hand(open) on a tightly rolled up towel.
    The butt should just barely touch your shoulder.
    It's not "always" true, but generally, spring/gas piston air rifles tend to deliver better accuracy if the hold is light.

  • @liquidsteel
    @liquidsteel Před 5 lety +1

    Yes agreed, Im just trying to use a little constructive criticism. But this is how we all learn something new. Get yourself some good Bags to shoot off of a nice table or build one yourself. Pellet choice Is also important. I've had no success with gamo pellets . JSB, H&N are definitely premuim. And the crossman premium ULTRA MEGA DOME version is surprisingly good also and CHEAP! However I do own a swarm in 177 and. 22 they have been actually really good . I did install a longer screw in the Second stage ADJUSTMENT and its wayyyy better to shoot accurately. If you ever get a chance get a crosman Vantage in 22 its surprisingly accurate too for under a 100$ hatsan 135 also is really a good option. I've already hit the uper crust of FX , DAYSTATE , AIR ARMS . A whole other league of air guns that of course with lots of time saving the money for such things. But I can only say WOW... when you buy a superbly built spring gun like Hw95 or 97 or even an air arms . You paying for the fit,finish and refinement of the product. And of course LOATHER WALTHER hammer forged barrels you are going to see some very nice results. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy.

    I bought all these rifles and I bought the Gamo Magnum 22 and I was really surprised because the first time I used it it double fed the pellets I looked at the Target and there was two holes probably about 3 inches away from each other I was tripping out like what the heck it only did it once it never did it again and after shooting just a couple of times it was extremely accurate I was really surprised and as far as my scope mount I've been using the original one that comes with it and it messed it up but I just ordered another one from Gamo and the bottom rail where it locks onto or whatever you call it I bought a new one of those too because it messed it up also.

    • @dockeydidit
      @dockeydidit Před 3 lety

      I just pick this up last night and started to follow the online instructions to mount the scope but soon found out this has a newer version. You DON'T disassemble any of the scope mounts. Line up the pin in the hole on the rail and it has a long rail on one side with 3 set screws. The springs are in that part to keep tension on the bracket so it installs easily and not flap around and misalign on the rail. You should be able to hold in the screw side of the scope mount and feel the spring tension and while holding it evenly tighten the 3 set screws.

    Question, I’m new to air guns and I got a gamo swarm maximm 10x. I’m not new to shooting though. Im a self proclaimed good marksman. I did replace the scope with a simple green dot and it made a difference in accuracy and faster target acquisition. Why do most air gun shooters use a scope?

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 4 lety +1

      Since these are designed for hunting, a lot of Airgunners use high magnification scopes to increase their accuracy with small game at a distance (and because our eyes just aren’t what they used to be 😂). The green dot is an excellent idea, though; Gamo has started installing fiber optic iron sights on the second gen rifles for the same effect.

I got mine here in Finland, the shop advertised it originally as Gamo Swarm, ITG. Turns out later, the one I bought was something called Replay, which is a springer instead of the ITG, an early model it seems. I've also heard that there exists some other names for these guns in different countries and markets, but I can't confirm that. It's all a little confusing and complicated. Also, a special shoutout for Gamo for making absolutely useless mags. My 22. Has seen now 4 different mags and they have all failed. I ordered two more, and if these will fail, that's it. And for some reason my gun also seems to like either G Hammer pellets or G Buffalos, both on the heavier side.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 3 lety

      1. With your scope, aim dead center on a very large target at 25 yards, and take 5 shots. The reason for the large target is to figure out where the pellets are hitting.
      2. Once you see where the pellets made a group, get your rifle in a very stable position aimed at dead center. Looking through your scope adjust the scope reticle so that you see if move toward your grouping.
      3. Once the reticle is sitting on your grouping, take 5 more shots aimed at dead center. Your grouping should have moved closer to your point of aim.
      4. Repeat this process until your point of aim and group are at the same spot.
      Keep in mind that your group may be larger than you’d like when you first start. As you get used to shooting and find a good pellet your gun likes, that group will tighten up. Each pellet type will have a different point of impact, so once you find a good pellet type for your rifle, re-sight in your scope.
      At that point, just keep practicing :). I may do a video explaining all the details in how to shoot an air rifle (hold, trigger, breathing, etc.)

That’s why when using a break barrel, I just look through the scope and use the clicks to move the reticle towards the group I shot. It will seem like a lot of clicks, but this method get you on target the fastest.

    Caint rest it on solid rest mate, you will never shoot constantly, you need the artillery hold, it will recoil while the pellet is still in the barrel, go all over the place, good video though

    Take the Gamo pellets over to the trash can, open and insert. Go to store and get every tin of H&N target trophy power copper plated domed. NOTHING shoots better out of this GAMO rifle. If you are doing your part you will cut that group size in half.

    • @willwhite2310
      @willwhite2310 Před 4 lety

      Wrong!!! I shoot crosman 14.3 hollows out of mine and get 1/2" at 40 yards. I shoot 1/2" groups from 50 yards out with lead free 10 grain. Every rifle is different. Some like certain pellets more than others.

  • @douggrotler8277
    @douggrotler8277 Před 3 lety

    Sorry, but you need to learn a lot about accuracy shooting and what the clicks of the scope mean. The clicks each represent 1/4" @100yds. That means at 50 yds each is worth 1/8" and at 25 yds each click is 1/16".

    Artillery hold works best . . . let the rifle rela through the cycle . . .

      Not with the maxxim. Tight hold.

      @@northeastslingshot1664 Artillery works best for mine . . . I started out with a firm hold at varying points of the forestock like I had seen suggested in reviews but could not get consistent performance. After about 500 rounds it still wasn't settling down well enough even though it was well past break-in. I switched back to artillery and then things meshed. It's probably an individual technique thing . . . there are so many variables involved with the person shooting . . . how it nestles in the shoulder, how long a person's arms are, how big their hands are, how they squeeze the trigger . . . . If the firm grip is working for you woo-hoo! Lol! I won't tell you different!

    Gamo has probably the worst readily available pellets on the market. JSB, H&N, and even off the shelf Crosman pellets are far better quality.

    First , you're too far away to zero. Second. your rest is impossible to zero, just too much movement without the gun being totally stable. Nice try though.

      Spot on mate. You have to use the "artillery hold" for springer or gas piston rifles.
