    The accuracy of any rifle, can tend to be due to finding the best compatible ammo for each and every individual rifle barrel. Therefore each and everyone of those rifles could be as accurate as each other when matched with their most suited ammo.

    I purchased the maxxim from the local Walmart. Only had it a week and already shot a couple of hundred pellets through it. I can absolutely personally vouch for the accuracy you showed here. I use 3 different pellets and weights. It’s shoots all well if I do my part. The cheaper lighter daisy pellets seem to be the least accurate but I can’t bash them or complain. I might get an occasional flyer but they still do the job nicely. So far the most repeatable accuracy comes from crosman premier 10.5 gm. Yesterday I made my 2 best shots so far. The distance was 40 yards verified by a laser rangefinder. I started by shooting the plastic tops off water bottles. Then I kept focusing on smaller targets. I don’t know how to post a picture here so I’ll describe it. The little plastic band that stays on a coke bottle after you’ve opened it up. Centered it and it went flying. I thought wow I got lucky 😂 then right next to it I had a small bottle of gain dish soap. The kind with the flip up lid. I shot the little flip up lid off. I was so amazed at the accuracy I immediately sent pictures to my family. I am curious about the sound dampening. If the fusion is actually verifiably more quiet. I’m certainly not complaining about the sound of the maxxim but I shoot from my backyard surrounded by neighbors and I love to shoot so noise level is kind of important to me. Sorry for the long message I just love the hell out of my maxxim and the sport. 😂🫡

I went with the .177 as I will mostly target shoot and maybe bag a few squirrels on my property. My last rifle was a Crossman 760 when I was a kid. Glad to see the Maxxim did well in your test.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA Před 3 lety +2

      I just use a normal .22 long rifle cleaning kit with a brass wire brush/solvent, and a lot of dry white patches to run through the barrel until the patches are clean, (at least 15 of them). I run the rod from the muzzle end, (no need to worry about the silencer), but it is the breech end you have to be careful of. You can lift the plastic off the breech face, (it is lightly spring loaded), and out a piece of cardboard between the plastic and the breech face. This way, you can see the cardboard move when the end of the rod hits it, and you won't push it too far if your careful. What you must do last, before you close the barrel, is clean the grime off the breech face, (Q-tips and some solvent work pretty good for the tight space). It was "out of sight, out of mind", for me the first time I cleaned the barrel, and that grime on the breech face made it's way around the rubber seal/sleeve after about 100 more shots, and my FPS went all over the place, (the air was leaking around the seal). I pulled out the seal/sleeve easily with an exacto blade, (careful not to damage the rubber), cleaned the seal and groove it sits in, and put a very little bit of gasket sealer on the end of the rubber seal before I put it back in, to ensure no air can leak around it. Just clean it like normal, but make sure you clean that breech face when done. Doug in Michigan.

    @mm8ball Před 2 lety +6

    The one thing I expected you to compare was muzzle velocity of each gun. I would expect that the one that was harder to cock would produce higher velocity. Accuracy is important, but a higher velocity is just as important, and a comparison would have been appreciated.

      @smyers820gm Před 2 lety

      I’d like to know as well. My maxxim is advert at 1300fps. Just curious if it can actually achieve it.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 2 lety

      The issue is velocities differ from different altitudes out of break barrels; I’ve had a lot of negative comments on other videos where I showed velocity because I live now at a higher elevation. So it’s hard to accurately show what these are capable of for different folks; however the accuracy should be consistent throughout the velocity band (unless you’re shooting extremely slow or fast).

    • @carvedwood1953
      @carvedwood1953 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@TheDollarSportsman True. velocity also changes with each pellet and pellet weight. Honestly, velocity doesn't matter just as much as accuracy lol. It matters to some degree, but not as much. If you can't hit something, it doesnt matter how fast the pellet is missing it.

  • @pickafingname
    @pickafingname Před 2 lety +2

    I think the moral of the story here is: A.) These are pellet rifles and not known for consistent accuracy. B.) Pick one brand of ammo and stick with it when dialing in your scope to increase consistency. I have my Fusion dialed in to a 50 cent piece pattern. However there are times when a shot I know was legitimately dead on will stray. It is what it is.

    Great video...but, I havnt had any luck with these. Every one I purchased had problems or no accuracy with it. I did get the g2 versions and had better luck. I put them up in my collection all collecting dust now. I had got in with the Hatsan break barrels and had a lot better luck with the quality and accuracy with performance. I'll never buy - (waiste) my money on another GAMO.. I do like the big bore TC line of PCP Gamos. They shoot hard and seem to be pretty good quality so far with superior accuracy tho.My hats off to you boss! Ed The Professional Backyard Sniper Man😂✌

    Thanks for the video! Personally, I've tried the Swarm Whisper and Maxxim, both in .22, and was very disappointed in the Maxxim..... the accuracy, even after 500 rounds was horrible! At 20yrds, the best 5 shout groups with any pellet were 3/4"+ totally unacceptable to me...returned for refund. It took 3 of the Whisper guns before I kept one.... first one had the loading mechanism go bad within 100 rounds...returned for replacement. Second one.... the trigger literally stopped functioning/broke internally at about 300 rounds....returned for refund. Number 3 has been good for about 1000 rounds so far. The third Whisper is also FAR more accurate than any Gamo gun I've shot.... my conclusion is that Gamo guns have spotty quality. Where it not for buying from Amazon, I'd either be stuck with broken guns, or be playing a back and forth waiting game for warranty work. The ONLY reason I've kept the Whisper is because it's a repeater/mag fed. If accuracy counts to anyone, they need to spend about $50 more and by a Sig ASP20...... It's an absolute BEAST air gun for $350.

    Im sure the comments are so far from being looked at anymore, but imma take a shot… Being a newbie to the Swarm Magnum 10x V3, I’m curious why not make a final adjustment on the scopes used in this video. Seems many of the groupings were tight, but still off center. Since I shoot a LOT of snakes in our Koi Pond from about 30-yard, I have to be near dead on accurate. My 9yo Gamo break barrel (1-shot), puts holes right through center of a 2-ft long snakes head 9 out of 10 times. My only option is the head because the remaining body is under water and we all know, once pellet hits the water, it’s done. Missing a snake is no go, as they hide for hours after a miss (or graze).
    For the snake lovers, it’s a pest thing. If they weren’t eating my expensive koi, I could wouldn’t care less.
    Anyways, and reason you don’t make a final adjustment to get center mass? Wind?? Thank you!

      Poverty is directly related to the lack of a free enterprise system, and no nation really has one anymore. The free enterprise system was invented in the USA by free people. We tend to forget that as governments take it over,---and we go poor.

    The Dollar Sportsman hey thanks for this video. Question. Where do you get your scope from that does video? Also I am trying to find a really good attachment for my scope that has a really good laser and flashlight. Some of the ones I have found have a cheap flashlight on them with a very low light output as well as weak lasers. Could I ask for your recommendation for really good ones as well as this video feature you mentioned for a scope. Thanks. All new to this. I am getting a swarm maximum 10x gen 2.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 3 lety

      carsutube howdy! I use the Tactacam 5.0 camera with their FTS (film through scope) mount to capture my shots; then you can buy almost any scope (that doesn’t have an illumination turret on the back) and film through it.
      Most laser/light/scope combos aren’t at the right quality to be worth it, so here’s what you do. Pick any scope you like and purchase a scope mount with a Picatinny rail. Then pick up a laser/light combo to your liking and mount it by the scope. For example, here’s an inexpensive Loadout (I use affiliate links):
      UTG Scope mount: amzn.to/3lzX2Az
      UTG dovetail you Picatinny conversion: amzn.to/34S5nIS
      Olight Flashlight/Laser: amzn.to/30XMa7v
      Then you can pick whichever scope (just make sure that you match your scope diameter and scope mount diameter; the scope mount I posted above has a 1” diameter but I’m sure there’s a 30mm version).
      Also keep in mind that gas piston Airguns chew up scopes; you can use a Diana Bullseye Zero Recoil Mount ti help with that.
      If you go that route, then just purchase an offset rail section to install your light/laser:
      amzn.to/3iP9SsH
      I hope this helps!

      The Dollar Sportsman
      oh my goodness. That’s a lot of good stuff I am sure of that. My problem is I am totally green. LOL. I will have to look up some of those terms. For example I will have to look up what an illuminated turret on the back.
      As for picking any scope I want. Then make sure to pick a Pictanny rail. I assume that to mean that the scope and rail are separate pieces. The scope must mount onto the Pictanny rail and that rail mounts onto the top of the rifle. If that’s the case am I right I’m thinking that the top of each gun has different mounting styles built into them. The Swarm Maxximum 10X Gen 2 .177 for example. Not sure what type of rail is built onto that gun. If the Pictanny mount is a rail the scope mounts to then does that Pictanny mount to the gun mount or do I remove the gun mount that comes with the gun and replace it with the new Pictanny mount.
      As for the Olight Flashlight/laser. I noticed that goes on a pistol rail. How would that mount onto the top of the rifle or does it mount under the barrel somehow? See how green I am. LOL.
      As for the the gas powered guns chewing up scopes. I believe that means that over time scope go bad somehow. If so using a Diana Bullseye Zero recoil Mount Ti will help. This I will also need to look up as I have no idea what that is. I do believe the gun I bought and am awaiting its delivery. The (Swarm Maxximum 10x Gen 2). I thought it comes with a scope mount that has some type of shock absorbing feature. I only ask this because I watched the companies videos and remember something about this.
      Then the last part of I go this route I can pick an offset for light laser.
      Boy oh boy do I need help. LOL.
      Could i ask if you would let me know what all I would need for my set up or gun I purchased. Sorry to ask for that.
      As for video shooting that wound be a cool feature. As for the illuminated turret. Is that where there is a green light inside the scope? If so I am not sure what that is for or it’s purpose. I have seen pictures of scopes that have that. My Swarm comes with I guess a decent scope but I will probably want to get something better. Anyway thanks for the help as well as any future help if your able to have the time.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 3 lety

      carsutube no problem man!
      Illumination turret: knob that is often on the back of a scope to turn on a red or green light inside the scope that illuminates the reticle.
      Picatinny rail: yes, it mounts to the top of the Airgun. Most Airguns come with an “11mm dovetail” scope mount. You can get scope mounts that are designed to mount directly to the 11mm dovetail, but most scope mounts with Picatinny rails on top won’t mount to a dovetail (hence the need for the adapter rail).
      And yes, the recoil from these break barrel Airguns is rough on scopes. GAMO does have a recoil reducing rail installed, but I’ve found that even with that rail, the recoil is still enough to eventually compromise your scope (I found out the hard way haha!)
      I love my GAMO Swarm Maxxim :); it’s a fantastic Airgun. They do come with a scope that’s functional, too; I use them plenty with no issue. An upgrade is nice to have for gauging those more precise hunting shots, though.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 3 lety

      carsutube oh And the Olight mounts to a Picatinny rail, so you can mount it to the top of the scope (with the right scope mount) or to an offset rail adapter.

      The Dollar Sportsman thanks. Would you be willing to spec me out an example of what will work with my Swarm? I also assume from your reply that we would be replacing the rail they provide with a Pictanny rail right? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. If you want to provide an example using a better rail along with the scope it comes with and the additional mount for the light/laser as well as an example of a rail and better scope that is really nice and a light laser mount and so forth that would be much appreciated.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 4 lety

      Nancy Arsele there are a few things you can look at:
      1. Yes, make sure the scope is tight; use lock tight if needed on the screws.
      2. Make sure the bolts are tight that attach the stock to the gun; if they are loose at all, accuracy suffers.
      3. Use a good hold (the Artillery hold); I used to grip my break barrels really hard until I learned that a looser hold was needed.
      I just used a new swarm magnum that has been super accurate :); it was phenomenal haha! These simple checks should get you on target 💯
