    I do so love my PCPs but I can’t help but be honest about the Gamo .22 Maxim. With its power and multi shot capability...if I would have bought it first...I don’t know if I would have PCPs right now...🤣😂who am I kidding...of course I would. They are both awesome. I love all of my Airguns. From the 300$ ones to my 2200$ ones. I can’t imagine anyone not have any of them. Break barrel,multi pump, or PCP. Everyone needs an airgun that enjoys shooting. Cool video. Thank you.

      I have a Maxxim .177 and a .22 PCP. The Maxxim is the one I use all the time. I can plink from my office right into the backyard. I now take "Plink breaks". The PCP is just too much power for the 20 yards and neighbors I have. I only really use that gun at the range or friends places where I have more space. Both great guns though! On the gamo: Do the trigger adjustment with a longer screw and get a decent scope. (Not too long though, since you need to be able to break the barrel. Also 6x is plenty, this is not a rifle to shoot far beyond 50 yards. Hawk has a nice 3x9 scope for about $100.)

  • @hildolfrdraugadrottin7279

    I have a lot of the little green propane bottles like you use for camp stoves.
    They make great targets because they ring when you hit them. I use rubberbands around their necks and hang them on trees, kinda like hillbilly a Christmas tree. 😊
    I've got a maxxim and a magnum both are gen2 in 22 cal. The magnum can punch a hole and leave a dent on the backside of the bottles using gamo rockets. That's pretty good considering how thick the metal is. For some reason the maxxim seems to be slightly more accurate though. But they are both fun to shoot.
    The magnum may be more accurate at long ranges but I've only tried it out to fifty yards. Both guns have no problem hitting those little bottles at fifty yards.
    I've fired close to a thousand pellets out of both of them without any feeding failures. I did have to tape the front of the scope and the power changes by itself though. And the cap of the grip let's loose and spits the magazine out occasionally on the maxxim. Both scopes are holding zero so they aren't as bad as some people say. Maybe I just got lucky.

    You have to remember that the .177 Gamo is a higher velocity air rifle that will give you a cleaner result than the .22 cal. The .22 will give you a sloppier, more damaging result due to its slower velocity, making it ideal for small game hunting. That’s why I own both the .177 and .22 Gamo Gen3i to cover all the bases.

      I don't reccomend hunting deer with a 22 air rifle or even a 22 LR. Deer are very strong and it is sad when they are wounded and die a slow death. I use a .308 and take only clean kill shots. Air rifles are great for target practice and killing varmints.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 2 lety +1

      Good morning!
      We noticed that this would happen when we used crosman pellets in some models. Those particular pellets didn’t want to fully seat in the magazine, meaning that they would just tumble out when we tried to cock it.
      I’d say try using a different type of pellet first to see how it goes and watch carefully if it still occurs; also make sure the pellets are seated all the way in the magazine. Finally make sure you’re cocking it all the way so you don’t accidentally “short stroke” leaving the pellet in a weird position in the mechanism.
      Then let me know!

      I have both. The .22 does hit harder. I get about 31 fpe with mine. The .177 makes about 26 fpe. But the .177 shoots flatter, and so far with the pellets I've tried, the .177 is shooting tighter groups. Best groups have been shot with H&N 6.64 grain barracuda lead free. I get exacly 1300 fps and despite the wives tale that supersonic pellets aren't accurate, they can be very accurate. Just need good pellets. All that said, if I had to get rid of one, I'd keep the .22.

    Feel super tempted to get a .22 version and use Prometheus Excite pellets since they are 9 grains and will easily get this gun to hit the sound barrier harder than it does with the Gamo PBA pellets (since those are .3 grains heavier). I know you tested heavier pellets (which are far better for damage), but I'm curious to how both of these compare with really light pellets that maximize the speeds of these guns and how loud they'd make these rifles. I'm sure the heavier the pellet, the more spread the damage, while the lighter pellets would cause less overall damage but able to travel far farther than a 15 grain pellet

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 2 lety +1

    This video helps demonstrate why the .22 cal is the better choice for hunting. All that extra knock down power over the .177 cal. The .177 is a great pellet for speed, but even with the slower lighter .22 pellet (15.89gr Hades). Its still did more internal carnage then the .177 (16.20 Beast Diabolo).

    Shoot one low, shoot one high.
    The lower one has very little velocity in a heavier position of the bottle.
    The higher one has more velocity at a later point in the bottle.
    Shoot them at the same point approximately 2 in above the bottom.
    See what happens then.

    • @miguelfilo962
      @miguelfilo962 Před 3 lety

      If it was 20 meters or closer, maybe with a headshot. It is still far less powerful than a 22LR. I saw a vid of a turkey killed with a 22 cal gamo. It took the poor bird 20 seconds of rolling around to die from a headshot. 22 cal pellet is seriously underpowered for a deer, not to mention illegal.
