    Topic Description
Alternating Current (AC), is a far-from-perfect power source. AC power technology is well over a century old and was never designed to meet the exacting standards of today’s high resolution audio-video components. AC noise is present at the utility source, and is then exacerbated by radio frequency noise that is induced (picked up by the AC power cord) and coupled to the component power supplies and to circuit ground. This creates distortion and low-level signal losses via the “masking effect.” Further, power amplifiers can require immense reserves of transient current for their power supplies to react to and then stabilize during dynamic audio passages. Most AC power cords and power conditioner-regenerators, though helpful to a point, are simply not up to the task.
All three of AudioQuest's new rack-mountable PowerQuest models - the PQ-303, PQ-505, and PQ-707 - take A/Q's comprehensive approach to AC power conditioning, addressing noise linearly to provide class-leading, wide-bandwidth noise reduction (better than -22dB).
The PQ-303’s Linear Noise-Dissipation comprises Differential-Mode filtering (30kHz-1GHz), which addresses asymmetrical noise already present on the utility line or backwashed via electronic appliances and components. In the PQ-505, Ultra-Linear Noise-Dissipation is achieved with the addition of Common-Mode filtering (30kHz-100MHz) to address symmetrical noise, which is typically picked up by the AC Line, Neutral, and Ground leads. In the PQ-707, Ultra-Linear Noise Dissipation is taken even further with a wider-bandwidth (8kHz to 1GHz) Differential-Mode filter.
In addition, the PQ-707 includes Transient Power Correction (TPC), providing a current reservoir of up to 45 amps peak on-demand power for any amp, (up to 25mS), supplying the low-impedance current the amp needs to produce thrilling dynamic contrasts, bass extension, and control.

I have the sonetto III with an Arcam SA30 amp and I have thought about the AUDIOQUEST POWERQUEST 303 how " big of an improvemt would I expect "

If you tip it to the side does snake oil leak out of it?

It's made out of snake oil!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thx for the laughs. This was hilarious.

The Furman Elite PFI ones were designed by the same designer as the PowerQuest ones and have similar components inside normally on sale for about half the price of the PowerQuest. I also have that similar meter made by Greenwave and it measures Greenwave product well. However when I plugged it into the Audioquest Niagara 1200 or the Furman Elite, the noise was higher than the actual wall outlet. I don't trust these meters at all. The meter may be made to measure a specific product or the product may be made to measure well with a specific meter. Hope someone will find out the truth about them.

Doesn't it make more sense to plug an integrated amp to the linear filtering one (due to the preamp part of the integrated amp)?

Thanks Elffin, the big difference with the high power ones is that they handle more current than the other three. We suggest using that one with an integrated amp

How is it compared to the Niagra series?

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  Před 4 měsíci

Hello Simple, Niagara uses the most premium components and offers even greater reduction in noise vs. the PowerQuest series. Having said that, PowerQuest is very popular because there are a lot of features and performance for the money. For example PowerQuest offers four high level inputs in the 505 and 707

Thanks for the great video. I have AQ Niagara 3000 and love it; it absolutely changed my system. I am thinking of getting another one for my other system. But what is the difference between the Niagara line and PowerQuest line?
    Thanks again

Hi Rodrazvan, the PowerQuest products are very good; Niagara products are the higher quality ones - even quieter, and with more current reserves. For example, your 3000 spec's out at 55 amps peak (up to 25mS) transient power correction, whereas the top of the line 707 specs at 45 amps peak transient power correction. We hope this helps

check out other videos about 707. There is one tested with Green Wave Broadband EMI Meter and 707 didn't do as well as in this video. This video shows silence.. the other video.. 707 with Green Wave extremely noisy. Confused... who to believe..

Hi Angelitoos, we just checked out another video reviewer whose work we've seen and trust. The 707 tested out very well and got his recommendation. Not sure which video review you've seen, but please correspond directly with us at ask@gramophone.com and we'll see if we can put your fears to rest
