      @@heartsing6459 If you want the results you can achieve with my system - do NOT use stronger (prescription) fluoride toothpaste.
      Stronger is not better and may damage the healthy bacteria in your mouth.
      I now it seems contrary to what you would "think" - but you have to trust me if you want to heal cavities and achieve the results possible.
      Either follow what your dentist is telling you - or use my system.
      Don't try and do both - because you cannot.
      You cannot mix and match the products and call it "my system".....
      I hope you will reconsider - as I am very worried what you are doing will not work.
      My system is a "system" and you need ALL the parts of it - for it to be effective.
      You need xylitol at the end of meals, you need ALL the rinses - and you need to use Closys first etc....
      There is no "part" of "my system" that will do the work effectively by itself.

    Nice video.
    Just a few points need to be made.
    1. Fluoride is attracted to and bonds with calcium, more so than more reactive metals like sodium. and ACT rinse has just enough calcium as calcium sodium EDTA to react with the sodium fluoride and make calcium fluoride which is safe, and moderately soluble.
    2. Sodium fluoride was used during the cold war by the CIA and KGB as a poison for assassination. In municipalities where it's added to the drinking water it is associated with calcification of the pituitary gland and lowered IQ scores.
    Since it's a low amount and there's calcium to neutralize it, ACT rinse is an excellent choice!

Mouthwash Listerine is good for flushing toilet, made the bowl white again. High alcohol is not good and caused irritation. Double checked it, but it is proven by scientific research over and over again. Your advise to do pre-rinse to neutralize pH, is correct. But that is recommended with water only. Mouthwash and pre-rinse it seems to me overkill. Brushing correctly and not brushing too hard is the best advise twice daily, an electric toothbrush with pressure sensor might give great results too. I'm three weeks post tooth extraction, and my mouth still doesn't feel like it's mine. So I wish I hadn't bought into the whole anti-flouride garbage. It's a teeny-tiny bit of flouride, and if it even saves one tooth. It's worth it! Losing a tooth is far worse than using a tiny bit of flouride. Flouride could have saved my tooth!

      Keeping fluoride on without rinsing always felt iffy for me, because fluoride is really not good for the body when ingested. Technically saliva is perfectly capable of remineralizing teeth on its own, provided there are no bacteria that produce acids, which is the main role of brushing.

    • @gonnfishy2987
      @gonnfishy2987 Před 6 měsíci

      @@Leonhart_93in fact, to complement your view, i will share:
      Saliva is perfectly good At remineralisation. You teeth are made up with hydroxyapatite in your saliva.
      Fluoride provides FLUORAPATITE crystals, these have an affinity for tooth matrix and are highly competitive- the Fluorapatite prevents hydroxyapatite from remineralising your teeth, the Fluorapatite replaces it.
      So in short, the additives, fluoride, compete with your natural system and thwart it.
      The body does not produce fluoride to remineralise. This is why it’s a topical, not use ingested.
      THE QUESTION: do you shun fluoride, rely on nature’s way, when your mother and her parents are so exposed to fluoride- your dentition from conception was formed in exposure to municipal water and food laden with fluoride.
      Or, do you surrender and not resist the inevitable exposure to fluoride that society contends with?
      Just asking, i have had to think on this for my own health- your teeth have 99% likely been BUILT with exposure to fluoride until age 10. Perhaps eschewing fluoride will leave your teeth at peril because of a lack of F exposure.
      If avoiding F is so difficult, why fight it? Use it to your advantage. It’s not like they are going to “cut you off”.

      The active ingredients in Listerine are eucalyptus ( which stimulates gum growth), menthol and thymol.
      The alcohol in Listerine is used to carry a very small concentration of these oils - nothing significant to cause damage to the oral microbiome.
      Listerine targets one specific kind of bacteria - that causes or leads the development of plaque in the mouth.
      It does not target or damage the healthy mouth bacteria in oral biofilm.

    It has to be emphasized that the Act has to say anticavity on the label. I made the mistake of buying the Act Total Care version of it. When I used it, I started to fear that the anticavity one was the wrong one that I had been using all along. I had to go back to this video just now to make sure that the anticavity one was the right one, and indeed, it was. I used the right one all along. I don't have to worry because this morning was the first time I used the other version of Act. It'll also be the last time. I'll have to buy the anticavity one when I come back home from work.

It's rinsed off with Act, to bring up the pH and put fluoride on the teeth. Closys is used before everything to bring up pH to make it safe to brush without damaging the enamel and it gets oxygen down in gum pockets, killing some bad bacteria. • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  Před rokem +10

      Thanks for the question.
      Yes, many people are confused because the system I recommend employs 3 mouth rinses.
      These rinses are used in a specific sequence - one after the other.
      If you want to make some sense of this - maybe consider skin care.
      Skin care is often about using a combination of products.
      For example, we cleanse the kind first, then tone, then moisturize your skin.
      The microbiome of the mouth is very similar to the microbiome of skin.
      Years ago I discovered that using this multi-rinse technique for oral care could provide similar beneficial and the effects you get from using a sequence of skin care products.
      Closys is the first rinse that cleanses, Listerine is like the toner, and ACT is the moisturizer in the process.
      There is brushing and gum massage also in the mix.
      My suggestion is maybe download the booklet about this system from my website.
      If you want to learn more about the science involved, then I have an oral health bootcamp which details all the best ways to use the system and which toothbrush to use etc.
      Here is a link to my website: drellie.com/

      Listerine is an essential oil mouthrinse with the active ingredients of Eucalyptus, Menthol and Thymol.
      These essential oils have indeed been used in dish liquids and floor cleaners - but in far different concentrations.
      The study about blood pressure reported by the media was disproven and a later study showed Listerine has the same effect on BP as water.

      Ultradex = Closys
      Oral B 1-2-3 = toothpaste
      Fluorigard = ACT

    • @SunrayStar
      @SunrayStar Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@workwithamit No, the Ultradex/Closys is a completely different product than ACT and does not work in any way the same. However, while you're waiting for the one you ordered, just as a temporary measure you can use the Crest toothpaste as the last step (after Listerine) in this way: you can make a very dilute sodium fluoride mouth rinse slurry from Crest regular toothpaste mixed with water. Use the normal amount of toothpaste on your brush and lightly brush it around your teeth. Before spitting out, sip a small amount of water (about a tablespoon) and swish this "rinse" around your teeth for one minute and then spit out. Do not eat or drink anything for at least 1/2 hour or more afterward.

    • @SunrayStar
      @SunrayStar Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@workwithamit That may have been a bit confusing. I meant you can make a fluoride mouth rinse with the toothpaste as I described, which would be just a temporary substitution for the Fluorigard until it arrives. So you would do the steps as: ultradex, brush teeth normally with Crest toothpaste, swish with Listerine, then make the temporary mouth rinse slurry with Crest and swish. Hope that is a little more clear.

      Will second the commenter already here- You do not need to ingest Xylitol to reap the benefits.
      In fact I would suggest not ingesting it.
      Can you swill, spit out? Like a form of after meal mouthwash. Can you suck on a mint and not swallow the resulting saliva?
      It’s fairly straightforward. I say this as a person with IBD/ibs who uses xylitol regularly.
      Facts indicate Xylitol is for the most part, not digested or absorbed by the bowels. Ie, it’s of no effect when consumed in any case (apart from causing laxative and bacterial buildup).

    • @SunrayStar
      @SunrayStar Před měsícem +1

      Dr. Ellie has written about this elsewhere:
      Teeth staining: “Good stains” are seen on teeth when dental disease has been rapidly controlled, when the remnants of thick plaque and harmful bacteria die off quickly. The debris collects around the tooth, often looking like a dark stain at the gum line. This stain is the sign of improved oral health, less bleeding, and a healthier mouth and gums. A dental cleaning will quickly remove this kind of staining and leave the healthier teeth pristine and white.
      If you do not have a cleaning within a couple of months of starting the complete system, the sudden improvement in your oral health may result in a thin band of stain forming around the edges of your teeth at the gum line. This staining is not a problem, is not permanent, and is not at all unhealthy. This stain is dead plaque debris that has shriveled up and formed a hair-like deposit around the edge of your teeth. One cleaning at the dentist will remove this band of debris.
      “This staining is a common problem that I have to find a way to address:
      1. Are you using the Mouthwatchers brushes that I recommend? You must get away from fear of brushing too hard. It's not true and you will not do damage by brushing - you will get rid of these stains!
      2. Do you let your brushes dry for 24 hours between uses? Never soak them in anything or they will get too soft.
      3. Are you brushing this area of your mouth where you are seeing the stains? Aim at these areas first, when you have the most toothpaste on your brush, and before you do the gum massage, etc - this is almost always superficial debris that just takes a bit more work to remove.
      4. Are you using the system 2x daily? You will get staining if more plaque forms on teeth every 12 hours during the first months - before the oral bacteria have been balanced. In the future you may be able to skip a time or two - but not in the first months.
      5. Do you stop eating and drinking completely - not even water - after the xylitol at the end of meals? This allows the new healthy protective biofilm to form, and it is this biofilm that will stop your teeth from accumulation of this debris. You may also want to have a Zellies mint last thing at night before sleeping.
      6. This stain is not a health problem - just no one likes a dark stain. But it is superficial debris and will brush off; just use a bit more toothpaste and some more energy on these areas.
      7. IF this extra energy and toothpaste trick is NOT ENOUGH to get rid of the stain - then you are going to make a special paste for yourself - Exfoliating paste: Mix together half a teaspoon of granular xylitol with a big squeeze of the Crest Cavity Protection toothpaste. Use this exfoliating toothpaste mixture - aim at the stains first thing every morning (not during the system.…but as you get out of bed in the morning). Just target these stains with this mixture of xylitol crystals + toothpaste. In 3-4 days the staining should have disappeared completely. Then you do not need to keep using this mixture; you can go back to the normal paste as a part of the system.”
