This system saved me a ton of pain in just 2 weeks when I went for a cleaning and hygienist said I had much less plaque than usual (which had involved lots of flossing and brushing). Excited to see the next check up. Helpful tools to employ this system are mini hour glasses for timing the rinses and brushing down to the second and shot glasses to pour the mouthwashes into to rinse. I always disinfect my toothbrush and tongue scraper after use with a little Listerine too because it will kill pretty much anything.

    Hi Dr. Ellie,
In August 2023, an old silver filling fell out from my #12 premolar. I filled it with paste from a temporary filling kit I bought from Walgreens. The dentist told me the tooth had fractured and had to be removed. But there was an active infection, so I had to take an antibiotic for two weeks and wait for another week before the appointment to remove it.
During the visit, I asked him to check on a painful #3 tooth. He saw much recession and said that was causing the pain. He suggested I use Sensodyne toothpaste, which I did. It was around this time when I found you on CZcams and your compelling "Complete Mouth Care System."
I tried it, and I liked it, especially when you said I no longer need to floss.😁 The tooth was extracted, and when I saw the dentist a couple of weeks later, he saw I was healing well. (Probably better since I started to use your system.) Because of scheduling at the dental school clinic, I have to wait until March for an implant. In the meantime, my #2 molar had fractured, and it was extracted on Dec 1 and it also healed well.
When I told the dentist and the faculty instructor about your system, they were skeptical. I challenged them to watch your CZcamss and see whether they can refute your claims. Speaking of claims, you made some in this "Tartar Removal At Home and How To Prevent Tartar" episode.
Question: The dentist wants me to get a cleaning. When I told him I may not need it because I use your system, he said there may be tartar or calculus left over from before I started your system, which should be removed. Does he have a valid point? If so, should I get a cleaning? I know you're generally against cleanings for good reasons, such as it will remove or upset the biofilm and injure the teeth
I eagerly await your reply. BTW, why are my teeth fracturing. I'm 72 yrs old. Does age have to do with it?
Talk to you. And keep uo the good work.
    Alton

The older you get, the more brittle your bones / teeth become.

    • @willyouan6222

Continue using this system and you will not need any cleaning. Also, for the teeth fracturing, you can try the Keto or Carnivore diet. Dr Ellie is strictly against artificial teeth whitening; although she has stated that the extremely rare occasion (for instance, in the case of your own wedding or some other VERY special occasion) shouldn't do any long- term damage.
She has been following her own procedure, she says, for over 45 years and has not even had a professional cleaning since that time. Therefore, it's pretty safe to assume that she also doesn't have any orthodontic appliances whatsoever.
Assuming all of that is true, her teeth are so white and nice- looking because she protects and maintains her enamel.

Interesting video, thank you. I go to the dentist/hygienist 2x year since I was very young. I’ve had a few cavities in college but not since. I did have chipped tooth and root canal. I suspect low stomach acid due to hashi hypo. I thought listerine was bad for NO and ph balance bcz acidity as you said. I know what doesn’t work. When I was young my dentist recommended listerine with electric toothbrush only, no tooth paste. Bad breath, dry mouth. Also oil pulling was useless, I had more plaque than ever.

thanks doc for your system, just a couple of questions:
    1. Some dentists say that using mouthwash daily such as Listerine to kill bacteria can alter the biota of the mouth, allowing candida to flourish. Is that true?
    2. Here in my country I cannot find ACT Anticavity Fluoride Mouthwash. What are the essential ingredients I should look for in a similar one?

    • @jammesluckett
      @jammesluckett Před 3 měsíci +2

Your questions are directly related to one another and both are answered in the video. Drawing from all of the videos of hers that I've watched across her channel, I've included additional details below that she didn't explicitly spell out in this particular video.
      1. Dr. Ellie answers this in this video... she's clearly stated why it's not advisable to use Listerine on its own if you want the results she's teaching you about. It's similar to what the other professionals you're citing are saying. The others are just not following up to tell you HOW you can still use it. Dr. Ellie is recommending that you CAN use Listerine but advising to ONLY use in a specific way. You have to give it a specific role as part of a routine. Because of a low pH level, you cannot just use it on its own and go about your day if you want good oral health -- that's essentially what ALL of those dentists are telling you. Even water can change your pH level and not create optimum conditions in you mouth... this is why xylitol is recommended after drinks and meals. But in the cleaning routine... it's why you need to follow up a strong mouthwash like Listerine with something that will neutralize it and make your mouth more hospitable to good bacteria.
      2. Dr. Ellie also answers this in the video... The "essential ingredient" of ACT that is critical for this process is that ACT has a lower pH level than mouthwashes like Listerine. So, Listerine has value and does what it's needed to do for that 30-60 seconds that you're using it but Listerine has a lower pH than your saliva (acidic). What Dr. Ellie and other dentists are saying is that your routine shouldn't end with a highly acidic mouthwash like that or you risk biofilm weakening and allowing candida to flourish. So the point of ACT in this system is to end your cleaning with a mouthwash that has a higher pH level (alkaline) than your saliva. Ending with ACT not only gives you a final coating of flouride but has a pH level which will neutralize the Listerine after it's served its temporary purpose. You'll find that many other dentists preach this as common knowledge but again, they don't tell us as many details about HOW to use this information in a practical way. Dr. Ellie's system is about telling you why and what to do with the information.
In other words, Listerine is fine to use... AS LONG AS you use it in this manner; neutralize that acid after 30-60 seconds. And with regard to the purchase of ACT, it doesn't necessary have to be this brand IF you can find another mouthwash with flouride AND which has a similar pH level of 6.5 or above (this range is slightly acidic to neutral all the way up basic/Alkaline -- you want to aim for neutral or alkaline but if only slightly acidic is available to you it would still be better than one that is highly acidic).
With a quick Google search, I PDF documents from dentists. Search for terms like "Rinse pH Values" or "Mouthwash Acidity Index". There's a bunch of printable PDF documents that list the pH level of common mouthwashes. There are a number of mouthwashes on these lists that would be great replacements for ACT in this system, if they're in your area and affordable. From there, you have to make sure those mouthwashes have an active ingredient of flouride as ACT does and you would be good to go.

Crest Pro-Health was one of the worst of these pastes and has made a lot of people nervous of Crest toothpaste).

Anything that washes your mouth - even water or tea, will temporarily change a nitric oxide or pH reading in your mouth. This was the problem with the other study. It was a temporary effect that you will get from any liquid. - even a drop of Evian water. To be scared of all liquids in your mouth.= mouth washes is ridiculous.
People often imagine Listerine is a problem, and that is very unfortunate, because they are missing the incredible value of Listerine as part of my system.

There are videos on here about oil pulling that make gums grow back. One recipe I found is crushing cloves into sesame oil, strain.

I have been using your complete mouth wash system since almost 2 months . But since three days my upper molar start aching . When I chew and put too much pressure on the teeth while eating it becomes sensitif . I got nervous and stoped the whole procedure cause I thought these products were too strong for me. Since I stopped yesterday, my tooth came back to normal. Maybe it’s a coincidence. But I am continuing with Xylitol. I don’t know anymore if I should continue with the full mouth wash system. Please Dr Ellie, what do you suggest me to do ?

If you are using the correct products - then there is no way for my system to cause a tooth problem of any kind.
If you want to check on the products you are using - and ensure you have them correct - drEllie.com has a link to the products on Amazon.
If you wish to learn more - there is also an oral health video bootcamp that explains how these products work and especially why I recommend xylitol and the fluoride products that are a part of the system.

I experienced a similar discomfort in the same area though not when chewing or pressure. I knew after watching many of Dr. Ellie's videos and reading the myriad of comments that her system is rock solid. So, I deduced something else was the culprit and sure enough realized my sinuses were tender. This is proven to cause a toothache! I then recalled in one of Dr. Ellie's video she mentioned Xylitol nasal spray to treat sinus infection. Try it.

So true as I've been using Listerine and only the Original could help getting rid of brown discharge from my #3 root canal and stops the gum irritation. Long story but keep it short and sweet here. Despite similar ingredients shown, not sure why only Original works better.

Can we use Lysterine Original mouthwash with PFm Crown like does that cause any abrasion on our porcelian/metal layer of crown?

I also have porcelain crown and did not see any abrasion from using Listerine but your question should be directed to Dr. Ellie and hope she would answer@@g51661

I've been using the system for a week but I've also been doing oil pulling once a day. The difference in one week is staggering. The tartar behind my lower front teeth is 70% gone already. Use her system and look into oil pulling.

I've been doing the protocol for 3 wks, nothing different so far. My teeth are healthy but I have calculus behind the 4 bottom front teeth and I DONT want to get it scraped off. I feel like that would just leave pockets behind.
I hope this system will get rid of the tartar for me.
