I'll be completely honest. I've bought the Madden game for my nephew on Christmas since 2015. He has always been into football, and I always thought it was something for him to enjoy playing. But I found your CZcams channel, as well as other Twitter topics about the ineffective and poor gameplay of the Madden series, and I finally realized the truth about EA and how lazy they are at making a quality game. That, combined with the younger generation's tendency to play video games rather than go out with friends and play real sports led me to purchase him a solid quality football for outdoors to play with his friends. So thank you for opening my eyes to a dark secret in the gaming industry.
And get the poor guy hooked on MUT with micro transactions would be the worse of it. He covers it in another video. Anyone growing up on the PS4/Xbox One generation would have no clue how good the games used to be and are just groomed into micro transactions to be competitive

Hey man, you sound like a really good guy. I’m sure the gifts meant a lot to him either way. Like you said, video games are just something to pass the time. I don’t think the games not being the best would bother him too much if he is just playing them like a normal kid. A ton of games I cherish that were given to me as gifts are considered bad games, but I still love them.

Ugh, I'm only at 3 years. I caved in with 17 and 18 because I wanted to try to compete online a bit but never even bothered for some reason. MUT grew old after 2 months.
When people stop buying Madden, that moves the needle much closer to another publisher getting a shot.

Possibly but everyone buys it every year so they’ll never improve the game because they don’t have to. If it’s not MUT, or the Yard EA will purposely neglect every other game mode to entice people to give MUT a shot. Also the NFL is raking in the money either way they don’t care how 💩the game is. Ultimate team is the real issue. That mode alone made ea over 1.4 billion last yr. As long as they can squeeze as much out from each buyer , I don’t think ea cares too much about ppl not buying the game.
@@csl5058 True. It's definitely a huge problem but I don't really know why someone would buy card packs if they didn't buy the game too. The way I see it, the game is already considered a success even if the MTX gross more money. So that's two sources of income.

As a 2k and Madden player since the early 2000s its a shame what’s happened to the end of my childhood with madden 16 17 and these current ones while im in college. This video has summed up how I’ve felt the last several years trying to avoid those games and giving those companies money.
The gaming pc and emulation argument is so so true I did that this summer and have used this channel as a catalog to try old games so thank you. I look forward to trying more of the mods you showed in this video and would definitely want to see more stuff abt that
When 29 year old Cam Newton pulled a Jimmy Hoffa on me and retired into the abyss in Madden 19 I swore I'd not buy this game again till Franchise mode isn't as bare-bones as the old N64 versions.
I’m fine with not buying madden.. the last Madden I went out and bought was madden 15 lol but I did recently sign up for EA play and I’m fine with waiting for the newer maddens to come out on that

So happy that you made this video. I couldn't help but think about the idiots (maybe someone named Eric...) who do nothing but rant about Madden 18/19/20/21 but CONTINUE TO PLAY IT AND MAKE VIDEOS! Drives me crazy that the short amount of time we have on this earth people would continue to play something they hate. Then again, in my experience people who do nothing but make a living complaining online need a safe place so I'll leave them alone :/

I’m tired of the arcade style gameplay, I mean look at NBA2K that game is a simulation. I wanna say that I have never played any other mode besides franchise mode in madden. I could careless about the yard or superstar KO.

There is NOTHING they can do to save this franchise until they change the physics engine.
When the foundation of every single action within a sports game is built on animations, it prevents the game from ever becoming a decent simulation. There is no room for authenticity to play out within an animation based sports game. All you're left with is a frustrating, repetitive mess.
Even though I found this channel by complete chance, I'm glad I did! Though I have the Madden's from 03-09 on the ps2, madden 12 on the 360 and NCAA games from 05-08 on the ps2 as well I don't have a ps2 myself as of right now. Though I do want to do NCAA career again from the ps3 version of 08 and then go on onwards to the Madden's that support that I don't exactly have the best plan to doing that at the moment so a little help is needed. But this vid just shows how much Softdrink cares. [Apologize if this went too long for some!]

I almost bought the "new" madden at the time when the browns drafted Mayfield... almost. Haven't bought a new madden since like 14 or 15, can't really remember. Don't miss it at all but I've always been a franchise guy. I can't tell how hard or easy it would be for an online primary player to walk away

On Saturday I actually played a bit of Madden 04 on my old PS2. The franchise mode was so much deeper than what we get now

2K has to just give us a game and Madden would probably change their whole game
The 2K of today isn’t even close to the 2K that made NFL 2K5.
They could just do a graphics update of All Pro 2k8 and it would be much better than Madden.
@@tehbeernerd The 2K of today doesn’t have to be like the 2K who made 2K5, all they have to do is use 2K5 and 2K8 as a blueprint for NFL2K22 next year. Also without 2K having the full NFL license this gives them ALOT of options and flexibility for their football game next year, a full customizable arcade game with simulation aspects with the same presentation, commentary and gameplay physics from 2K8/2K5......best believe the game will sell because gamers will be excited to have a choice to play something other madden for their football video game fix and also knowing the gameplay will be there, it won’t even matter if the game is arcade and EA will be watching to see how the sales go next year.
But now the clock is ticking and EA is shaking in their boots, they know from now until next year they’re actually gonna have to get off their lazy asses and actually get some work done on Madden22 so it doesn’t end up being a carbon copy of Madden21.

love this video and it is so true, i've been playing ncaa 06 on pscx2 since seeing the video you made on it and it's amazing. i'm already on year 7 of rebuilding duke, the game runs very smooth and those old physics based engines make any game intense as hell lol haven't bought a madden title since 19 and i always buy those indie football games just to support everyone else but ea, really hope 2k makes a great nfl game let's see if 2021 gives us a great nfl game/football game

The first step of the guide I actually use and I've been using this for years without anybody actually telling me cuz I very much love Madden but after seeing all the problems and glitches in animation based physics I've now decided to play 07 and 2k5
I'm definitely sharing this, you break this down better than I ever could, I just wish the effort and ideas were implemented in madden nowadays like it was with the ps2, my personal favorite madden 04...the best analogy I can give is like having a girlfriend that looks smoking hot, but if her personality is not good the relationship won't work, madden has came very far with the graphics (looks good) from ps2 , but since features like owner mode/ a deep franchise mode, trade logic, mini camp drills, historic teams are not put in the game, it has little to no substance and your customers will become frustrated to the point where they don't buy the game anymore which I can definitely understand..your content is genius and I'm here to say I'm totally with you!
I bought madden 21 before any other games but then it sucked and i had to wait to get any good games so I learned my lesson and I am not buying madden 22

I fell down the nostalgia hole last year with Gamecube and PS2 and one of the highlights was finding out I still love Madden. I hadn't played Madden since 11 and got 18 to see what it was like on next gen and was super disappointed. I thought I had just outgrown the series and didnt notice the flaws as a kid, but my copies if 06 and 08 were still awesome to play. Thanks to these videos I bought 2K5 and was blown away and now I'm looking for a copy of NCAA Football 06 since I only ever had 08.

Playing NCAA 14 without mods on my ps3 is actually really fun. Even on PS3 you can update the roster and download created teams. On Dynasty I have spent hours just in the recruiting screen alone.
I still play NCAA 06 and NFL 2K5 on my ps2. This generation of Madden doesn't come close to the gameplay and depth of these old games.

Theres also workarounds. I got madden 21 because my friend bought it and we gameshared, you could try to get it on sale so at least you're limiting the amount of money you spend, you could play older maddens and update the rosters and stuff.

Maximum football can be a little rough at times but is a very fun football game, the College Dynasty is a fun game mode and you can tell the devs actually out passion into the game
I dig it Softdrink. The animations are glitchy but I do like madden 20. I agree it will never be the same as my beloved Madden 05. But I think it’s good.

Hey Softdrink! You should try Retro Bowl as well. It's a football game with a fun and simple to understand franchise mode with 8-bit graphics and Tecmo Bowl like gameplay. It's free to play and it's available in iOS and Android. It's a mobile game, but trust me, it's worth a try.

I was a consistent yearly buyer, but after reading reviews and watching your videos (and other peoples) I am done. Not at full price, not even on sale until I see something change for the positive.

A game that I love playing is Retro Bowl on mobile, its laid out like an old arcade game but is super fun, i recommend looking at it
I want to mention one more option to people who haven't heard about it but King Javo on youtube actually created a full on Roster Editor for All Pro Football 2K8. Its not the easiest thing in the world but it adds so much more replayability to the game.
Please do an MLB Power Pros 2008 retrospective. I played that game so much back in the day, and I'd love to see you do a video on it (the original MLB Power Pros from 2007 works as well).

Great video, the only madden games I play and own are madden 10 and madden 17, also ncaa 14, to me madden 17 was the last madden in the ps4/xbox one generation where is was fluid and fun in a pure gameplay aspect before the frostbite engine made it completely unplayable. I love madden 10 for similar reasons and ncaa was a great college football game. Madden mobile is also a solid game in a pure gameplay and single player season mode.
I have madden 08 with the ff/fi mod and updated rosters and it's really good so far. You can even put updated stadiums from this year like the Rams Stadium.
