Well as far as 40 Winks goes, that's just the way that alot of games were durin' the latter half of the 90's where the controls are concerned, it was a new era for games and it was either a blessing or a curse.
My husband is one of the creators of Zero Tolerance. It's pretty funny to find this video. 😊
Wow, very cool!
I loved zero tolerance on Sega Genesis! Tell him thank you for me! ❤
Its kind of cool to see a game like 40 Winks running on the Evercade, i havent seen any other full 3D adventure or platformer games running on it before now.
I had Zero Tolerance on the Genesis back when it released. You could connect two game systems, and play multiplayer. It was amazing back then 😂
I've played Zero Tolerance via emulation on my Wii sometime back, and without the multiplayer function I found the game to be boring AF!
@@CommodoreFan64 😂 I’m sure it would bore me to tears today. But thirty years ago, this was probably my first experience playing a First Person Shooter. And my first multiplayer FPS experience a little while later. Me and my cousin (the person I linked console with for multiplayer) were blown away.
How do you connect two systems?
@@drakelacy2358 I'm sure back in the day if I had this game, the multiplayer adapter, 2 TV's, and someone else with a Genesis, and the game this would have been a really fun game, but I was already running Doom, and Doom II on my PC at the time, and lugging it to my friends house down the street on free weekends for all night lan parties lol!
@@GamingTheSystems1 They had a DB9 lan adapter box that connects thru port 2 of each console.
hey i just wanna comment on how much i love the way you talk about games. you’re always open and honest that certain games aren’t for you but totally could be cool to someone else. your attitude is so refreshing amongst all the argumentative elitists in the retro gaming space
Radikal Bikers and Legend of Wukong are totally worth playing. Haven't made my mind up about 40 Winks yet. The rest I'm not too fussed about.
You're the reason I have an Evercade VS now and I pre-ordered the Duke edition of it. I like the idea behind it but haven't been able to play a lot yet.
Looking forward to your next video.
That is the biggest reason I do not have an Evercade because all of the games released do not really do anything for me. But that is my opinion but if someone else may like all or many of the different games on the different cartridges that is fine they can enjoy it. So I do not discourage anyone from buying anything from Evercade as long as it brings them joy and happiness to play.
I mean, is this the first RPG on the system?
Honestly, I like the idea of the Evercade. An official, legal way to get OG game cartridges in a protable format.
Problem is... they lack 99% of the NES/SNES library (ESPECIALLY the RPGs).
@@lalas3590 Yeah many NES and SNES and Sega Genesis games are not on the cartridges. That is why I really do not have a desire to get any of these cartridges.
40 Winks I have played on PS1 and yes Ron it works better with a PS1 controller but you have to move slowly to match the camera because it was more easier moving the camera yourself but slowed the Camera down. The Legend game looks amazing and the kind of game I enjoy most of all
I don't remember the camera in 40 winks being that bad. I think you're onto something with a new controller
Thanks for your review. These type of videos are very helpful.
One of my biggest reasons for not getting an exp was the fact there is no analogue stick(s), and with more 3D games been released i would imagine it could make the experience much better.
They finally got some ps1 games
I kinda wish there was a zero tolerance remaster. Nothing too much, just something similar to rise of triad. Have the gameplay screen bigger and clear up the textures a little.
I play this on emulator a bunch and that small screen gets the better of me. A budget remake for the switch would be nice. Right now it’s just emulated, and charged I thing $10? 😢
The problem with Evercade, is that they focus so much on quantity over quality. Bottom of the barrel games, that were forgotten for a reason.
Geez I want to love the Evercade but with trash like this, that's some tough love💔
That bit on 40 Winks where you fell off the planks. I did exactly the same on the N64 version. The controls are a bit imprecise. I guess the player would adapt and get used to it. I've only played an hour though, same overall conclusions as you.
I think this is more for the "Gotta catch 'um all" Evercade fan. I didn't see anything in this set I would feel I had to own, but I'm sure that person is out there. I think Sword of Sodan might have been the game I'd a wanted to play first because Bithead1000 speaks so highly of it due to its level of "pre-Mortal Kombat" violence.
Right off the bat I remember sword of sodan, the amiga version for the time was good but I think some of the other versions of it not so much.
The graphics were better on the Amiga, but the game was still crap, with terrible controls. It felt more like a tech demo, showing off huge sprites.
The Amiga version was a good game for 1989. But after I finished it, I never played it again.
Good, honest review. Thanks from Germany
Zero Tolerance looked interesting enough, but the others ill have to try for myself sometime
Sword of Sodan ... Sucks balls.
Best most accurate review comment ever 10/10
40 winks and zero tolerance, nice 😩👌
Radikal Bikers is worth the price alone.
Edit: Oh, wait... it's not the arcade version. Never mind. 😕
I had Sword of Sodan on the Amiga 500. It was a good game, not great, but I had fun with it.
Yep 40 Winks needs a better controller then it would not be too bad, but overall this cart looks like a dud!!
So far the only game I've played from this collection so far is 40 Winks, but I actually really like it. It has been long enough since I've played a PS1 collectathon, and I think the Evercade could do with more games like this. Still, there are certainly frustrations with the 3D platforming. I don't know what the prospect of seeing more popular PS1 platformers are, but I'm glad I got to experience this one, as I likely wouldn't have heard of it otherwise.
You know I’m a big fan. I respect the opinion on these games!
Try using a controller with analog sticks. I personally use the PS4 Hori mini for my gaming needs on the evercade.
40 winks was also an unreleased game for the n64
Sword of Soda is a awful port for the original Amiga game, they should've included the Amiga version, not that really bad port.
considering it's game boy color, the graphics on the motorcycle racer look really nifty!
Nice 😊
Sword of Sodan deserves to be remembered as the worst game ever made on Sega's sixteen bit platform, but I have spoken to ONE MAN who loves it: he should probably be captured and put in a laboratory for further scientific research.
Yes Virtua racing on pico 8
Idk man I had the opposite effect. Aside from Sword of Sodan which is notoriously bad and they probably put on there as a joke, I liked em all! Well I didn't try punch king yet. Motor city is weird. Metal mech is fun as hell though dude! Amazing NES game. Huge levels.
Had to get this one for Legend of Wukong - I'm a sucker for this type of game. :D 40 Winks is quite nice, Zero Tolerance is surprisingly competent, and Super Bubble Pop is highly addictive. But yeah, it's not the greatest collection out there on Evercade - Sword of Sodan wtf? Still feel like I got my money's worth. Thanks for your honest opinion, MLP!
legend of wukong is bugged in the middle of the game you came into charcoal city and an fight would start but the game crashed because piracy detection and you can stop play it, i only has finish it with copy the savefile from the cartdrige out and load it with an old sram fixed version on pc play around this part and later put the savefile back on the cartdrige thats a mess 😥
The Legend of Wukong is an interesting RPG and is based on the fable story of the Monkey Kong (a.k.a. Journey to the West) which inspired Dragon Ball and Sonic the Hedgehog. The only issue about that game was that it was never released outside of Asia until the EverCade.
What other video game videos you’ve done before
I loved sword of sodan on Amiga, the graphics and sound really showed off what the machine could do, in fact a friend of mine ditched his c64 and bought an A500 the day after seeing it running on mine. The gameplay wasnt great but compared to the megadrive one it was streets ahead. The megadrive one is inexcusable considering the machine is in many ways superior to the A500. How did they manage to screw it up so bad?
On another note, im surprised no one has created a flash cart for the evercade, it would save buying a cart full of crap just to play one game you like. From what i gather the carts are just cheapo sd card spec things rather than the old memory mapped rom carts so it shouldnt be too difficult.
You can put roms on a million devices. Evercade is for people who want to do things legitimately and especially for supporting homebrew developers. The creator of the GBC Radikal Bikers was really thrilled to see his game finally come out for real. If that doesn’t touch you I don’t know what to say.
Although over all I felt much more positive my overall opinion isn’t too different, for me Zero Tolerance is excellent. You have to be more strategic and take your time but it’s great fun. The rest are okay to bad. A couple on there that you can get a short amount of fun out of and a few you can’t even
I look at the Evercade sometimes and the only cart that was a little bit interesting was the one with Speedball on it.
The most hated cart in the Evercade library, haha
I remember renting Sword of Sodan from Blockbuster back in 1990. I knew within 30 seconds that it was complete garbage. 😂
I love the concept but just don't understand why anyone would pay money for primarily games nobody has ever heard of before. Thing is if they were "good games" or popular games or even "hidden gems" Evercade wouldn't have been able to get the license for them. Why would I (or anyone) want to play crappy games? As much as I love retro/older games I'm not personally going to spend money for something retro, just for retros sake. Just seems like something someone buys, screws around with for a couple hours and then it just collects dust. Too each their own though. As the expression goes...you do you.
The math on how these works. Do you see at least 2 or 3 games you know you like, for 20 bucks.
I had Sword of Sodan in my collection, and yes the gameplay was just abysmal which is why I got rid of it.
How can they get away with selling roms?
If you like Janky games as much as I do, then this cart is a banger! :-)
Cool Super games
BOOM
Muito bom mais um inscito com like vamos se fortalecer
I loved sword of sodan on the amiga, tough game
Yeah platform games like that from ps1 had camera issues.
Sluggish gang bang of spears. Bahahaha!
I want the Legend of Wukong
Sword of Sodan was actually an Amiga game, ported to the Megadrive, and while it was still a crappy game on the Amiga, it was at least a polished turd. Played a bit better sounded better and looked better.
Your were spot on with your zero tolerance 😂.That collection was a stinker.
I remember renting Sword of Sodan for the Genesis from the local video rental store. Within a minute I was like “Oh l this is horrible!”, but was stuck with it for the weekend. It was probably EA’a worst published Genesis game!
👍🏼
Won't be buying that then 😂. Although the last game looked intriguing
They could have thrown Radikal Bikers PS1 PAL… but noooo
It would not have fit alongside 40 Winks. The GBC game is awesome and I’d love to get a GBC cart of it some day if Piko does that.
I love retro games but this doesn"t look like it is for me
Sword of Sodan!? Why even bother including it?
Surprised by how much you disliked this
Honestly it’s probably my second favorite Evercade cart behind only the original PIKO collection from launch.
Evercade has a decent following and likely prefer the physical media and not dealing with emulator apps and Roms, but I can’t justify paying for their “flash” cartridges when a majority of the games are junk. And then having to buy multiple carts to just get the games I really want. we can never have them all haha . They’re 💯 on the right track with indie releases like alwas /cathedral and the VS is a decent platform to enhance gameplay options. But I can’t stand their unresponsive customer service and the EXP quality was mediocre. now I’m using the Miyoo with zeroooo regrets. And can have itttt all✌️they made it easy to leave.
The exp was NOT mediocre in quality. Do you even own one? Because that statement is ridiculous. Also, if you're dead set on just getting a handheld emulation machine (which are a dime a dozen) then you're missing the entire point of the Evercade.
@@highpineapple do you work for evercade or just lacking basic tech skills. I did own one and worked as an electronics tech in a lab for years so yeah, sorta qualified to make that remark. Screen was low quality and scratched easily. The item overheated often in my hands and plastic was cheap. My opinion, yes, which I’m fully entitled to but based on years of experience I doubt you have. Many of these so called “dime a dozen” emulation machines are of better quality than the EXP. Have you even tried one? Recommend retroid, Abernic or Miyoo. And please enlighten me to the point of purchasing games on a flash cart? Aside from holding physical cartridges , I can deal without that cost and enjoy ROMs. Cheers
Looks like an odd mish mash of games. Not many of them look that great either. Might be ok if it's a cheap cart.
I'm not a fan of these cartridges of collections of games that were bought by companies before they became freeware.
It sounds like this cart has the worst picks, like Piko was trying to make back money on poor investments.
Alot of stinkers in this collection. It would be nice if they could be a way to purchase some games separately. The carts are a little expensive if you only want them for one or two games
I could tell that you tried to like these games but they are a bit outdated for today. I could hear your struggle 😅
So you’re saying it’s a pass?
😂😂😂
With the spread of what is on this cart, there are like 4 games that people will like on this cart. Depending on preference.
Punch King plays nothing like Punch Out. It is a real boxing game with Punch Out style graphics.
Evercade either gets very good carts or fecking dross like this one.
Sword of Sodan is one of the worst games released on Genesis. Zero Tolerance was one of my favorite games released on Genesis.
The could had just include the better Amiga original, instead they choose the garbage port that was the Genesis version.
It's a pass😅
A really poor set of games. Scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one.
Fetishists console in my opinion.
Tbh, All them games on that cart sucked, You'd think that they would release quality top rated titles that also gained alot of media attention back in the days tbf.
nah, some of the games on the cartridge are good
For me the only cartridge that has a maximum value on this system is the EVERSD.
Seriously WTF still uses cartridges!?
TBF all PS1 games are trash.
... Saturn snob. How many good Saturn games actually released, stateside? It failed outside of Japan for VERY good reasons.
@@TexasHollowEarth Saturn is trash too.
