I agree with many of these picks. I really need to get the Indie Heroes Volume 1 cart still. The Piko Collection Volume 1 is really great stuff and one of my favorite carts. Another one I love is the Data East Volume 1 Collection. Glad to see Ninja Golf shown here in the Atari Collection 1, easily my favorite game on that cart. Great video again, John!

  • @SquarePegs
    @SquarePegs Před 2 lety +5

I love my Evercade. I think my top five would be:
    5) Atari Collection 1: It's's got so many games on it I never played. I completely skipped over Atari growing up, and this reintroduces me to so many classic games.
    4) Jaleco Collection 1: I'm a sucker for Bases Loaded and City Connection, and there's a ton of other excellent choices on here that I enjoyed on my NES
    3) Mega Cat 1: Just a perfect collection of indies from one of my favorite publishers. Coffee Crisis and Almost Hero alone are worth the cartridge cost, everything else is icing on the cake.
    2) Piko Collection 1: Any company that dedicates themselves to the preservation and sharing of classic games lost to time immediately gets an A+ in my book. Getting to play Nightshade, which I'd loved as a kid but completely forgotten about made me giddy, and additional games like Tinhead, Water Margin, and 8 Eyes just make it one of the best on the console.
    1) Technos Collection 1: For my money, this is far and away my most played and most loved. And that's without even looking at Double Dragon - River City Ransom, Crash and the Boys, Super Spike V'Ball, Super Dodge Ball - these are the games of my childhood. I cannot wait to play these on the Vs. when it comes in!

    My Top 5:
    Piko 1
    Namco 2
    Indie Heroes
    Xeno Crisis/Tanglewood
    Lynx 2
I was pleasantly surprised on the Atari Lynx and Jaleco collections. They were quite good, and my expectations weren’t particularly high for them.
I do not have Bitmap, Worms or Piko 2 since they didn’t pique my interest. Intellivsion is ordered, but not arrived, I do not plan on ordering Gremlin or Renovation.
But by and large, I am very pleased with my collection. On the fence about the VS. I had an Atari 7800 growing up, so those games are of particular interest from a nostalgia perspective. SNES is my favorite console of all time.

I see the Mega Cat Studios 1 cart listed into a lot of personal Top 5 for the Evercade.
Different opinions are good, but honestly I don't understand why people love that Collection so much.
Some games are really good, like Multidude, Old Towers, Super Painter and Tanzer but...ehm, Little Medusa is a complete copy of Kickle Cubicle (as Justice Duel is a complete copy of Joust), Creepy Brawlers becomes way too hard just after the 2nd match, Coffee Crisis has a cool concept but the final result is just disappointing (bad controls, mediocre sound effects), Log Jammers runs so fast that seems like a beta version of a finished game (it's waaaaay too fast, c'mon), but the worst of the bunch is Almost Hero (nice graphics, awesome musics but it has the worst control system ever experienced into a brawler, it's so bad that makes the game a totally frustrating experience).
But...hey, that's just my opinion as a player.
Indie Heroes and Piko 1 are the best: can't wait for a 2nd chapter of Indie Heroes and, of course, Renovation Collection.
    Cheers. :-)

My favorite Evercade cart at the moment is Piko Collection 1 because I enjoy most of the games on that cart (especially Dragon View and Water Margin).
I have Indie Heroes Collection 1 and I really enjoy the games on there, especially Anguna and Deadelus. However, after I updated my firmware on the regular Evercade, I noticed that the regular save feature on Anguna no longer works and I'm forced to use Save States to save my game. Since I downloaded that firmware, I've upgraded two more versions and I'm still having the same issue. I mentioned it to Evercade on FB a while back but no response. I don't know if anyone else is having the same issue I'm having. Did you have the same issue on your cart John? I'll continue to use Save States but I really would prefer to have a functioning in game save simply because I want to play the game the way it was originally intended.
Great video! Also, I can't wait for Renovation Collection 1. Have a great one!

    • @davidrin3566
      @davidrin3566 Před 2 lety

@@albertrodriguez9665 My experience getting one was a bit tricky. They sell them on Amazon and Best Buy. Amazon is usually the best place if you live in the US. However, be aware of a few things:
      - Blaze Entertainment (The company that makes Evercade) is a small company and produces games and systems in small batches. You may have to pre-order a console and wait for the next batch to ship.
      - They have publicly announced that the semiconductor shortage has slowed down production, putting the back one month plus on manufacturing and delivery.
      - They are located in England and it takes some time for the units to get to the US
Also, I've unfortunately had to put up with product arriving really late (in some cases, a month or more) and in one instance, had to stop Amazon from cancelling my order. Hopefully, you do not have to fight with them on the phone just to get what you ordered. Had a major issue getting my copy of Indie Heroes especially. They did not deliver on the promised date and I had to keep checking up on them as to why my fully paid product did not arrive. Finally, I got it but it was over a month after the fact even though I pre-ordered it.
I've spoken to Blaze in the past about this and they told me it has to do with how many units Amazon orders for their warehouses, especially on pre-orders. They end up not ordering enough for the batch and unfortunately, this is what happens. While I know it's frustrating, if you live in the US, sometimes you have to go through this so you are not paying scalper prices on eBay. BTW, do not spend more than $20 - $30 per cartridge. Anything higher than that is price gouging. The system is meant to be a budget console.

It seems like I'm in a minority of one here, but I'd like to point out something that's been bugging me since this cartridge was released.
Every video I've ever watched on the Piko collections has the host pronouncing the name of the company as "Peeko," but the company's logo contains the mathematical symbol for pi.
Are we sure it's not supposed to be pronounced "Pie-ko?"
Sorry. But it drives me nuts when I see videos about Imagic games and the hosts pronounce the company's name "Eye-magic" like it's an Apple product. The correct pronunciation is "EM-magic" because the name is an amalgamation of the words "imagination" and "magic."
It just seems to me that to mispronounce the name of a company is a disservice to the company.
While I'm 100% certain of the Imagic pronunciation (check any of their old TV commercials to confirm), I'm not 100% sure about Pico, just 99.9% sure.
I'm pretty sure the Pi symbol would indicate that "Pie-ko" would be how they wanted themselves to be known.
Either way, another great video. Keep them coming!

The cheap Chinese retro consoles are not only cheaper, but contain 1000's or retro games and better. To hell with do called licensed games these have. Your paying highly for the same thing can get from China miles cheaper. 8 games for a cartridge I'd rediculous when you can get a Chinese retro console for same price with 1000's of games.
