Hari, you wake up so emotional maybe because...even in your dreams you are just so in touch with your heart. And being as sensitive as you are, that's what makes you so enjoyable to listen to.These are raw emotions. I love listening to a cool guy who is true to his ❤️.
I love Dan Fogelbergs music, in this song, I loved the book metaphor he used in this song to measure time. He did write this song himself, he did so while he was on vacation in Maui. It hit the number 2 spot on the top 100 Billboard for a week in February 1980. Thanks!!!
Love Dan Fogleberg, beautiful voice, with lovely lyrics. Hope you listen to a couple of other tunes, " Run for the Roses"' "Leader of the Band" the latter is about his love for his father. So sad we lost him too early. Thank you for the memories.
this turned out to be his biggest hit. We lost Dan to prostate cancer but he left behind lots of great music. Next try "Only The Heart May Know" a duet with the incredible Emmylou Harris.
I've listened to this song for over forty years and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It's such a powerful declaration of love and a reflection of the timeless poetry of Dan Fogelberg. Thanks, Harri, for your heartfelt reaction.
This song came out in 1979 and got very limited air play but it was beautiful and I remembered it. So when I had my first dance with my new bride less than 2 years later in 1981 this song played during our first dance. That was 42 years ago and we're still together.
Another fave, Sketches. Have most of his albums & just as many of his piano music. I’m 70, Native Coloradan. I was so lucky to see him in person many times. Can visualize him sitting at the piano just feet away from me in Vail. Listening while in the Rocky mountains was magical. That voice, his songwriting, & oh so handsome. Gone much too soon. RIP Dan. Thankful I can still listen to your beautiful music. 🎶💙💔❤️
Dan did not consider himself a poet, but these lyrics bely that notion. A supremely romantic song that has been performed at many weddings over the years. Ever on, Dan. ❤❤
I can see that comparison with David Gates on, say, If. Ethereal. Dan wrote several songs like this: Scarecrow's Dream, The Sand And The Foam, Believe In Me, Colors Of Eve...
Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful man. I love this song most, in addition to "Hard To Say", "Run For The Roses", "Leader Of The Band", "Same Auld Lang Syne", "Language Of Love", "Part Of The Plan", etc.
And NOW you know why "I am a Rock" exists for some of us.....you cannot experience a love like that and just "bounce back" when they die....tooooo young....
I’ve always liked longer, and it was a song that I used at my wedding. And 30 years later I still feel the same about my lady, we’re older and wrinkled and cracked but we’re still in love with each other.
I have this song accompanying a slideshow of photos of my late husband. It always reminds me of him. Gorgeous!💔🌹🎶 "Same old lang syne" is another heartbreaker!
I always loved the imagery in this song, especially: "Thru the years as the fire starts to mellow, burning lines in the book of our lives; though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow..."
I was introduced to Dan in about 1973, by a neighbor lady…I passed the torch on, as we all should do. Dan was not just a musician but a poet and a sage! Listen, learn and live thru the love of his spirit ✌️
A legendary singer songwriter and my favorite solo artist. This tune along with his first recorded song, To the Morning was my wife and I wedding tune. I cherish it to this day more than 20 years after my wife’s passing!👍🏻❤️☮️🥲
This was the song that made me a Fogelberg fan. Achingly lovely. Another of his in a similar vein is The Sand And The Foam, which I love enough to want it played at my funeral. Not soon, though...
This man could write songs. Such an incredibly talented artist. I can’t put into words how much his music means to me. I was devastated when I heard of his passing.
So this song came out in 1979, I was 19 years old and played this for my parents. This is their love song. They both had tears in their eyes when it was done!! Ba bam 🥰
Had the privilege of seeing him in concert twice. One was him with his whole band and the other was a purely acoustic concert. No electronic instruments....just him with an acoustic guitar and a piano. Check out the song Netherlands if you want to hear a soaring song.
I bought his greatest for a girl I wes seeing and everytime I went to her house, she'd play it, and it'd play continually all night. I never get tired of hearing this. Even though I'm not seeing her now, I still love the feelings I get when I listen to him.I got something in ma eye. Yeah. Peace
I attended a wedding years ago when the bride and groom danced to this song and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. The groom mouthed the words while looking at the bride. It was really something.
One of the most beautiful ballads ever written. I enjoy your sincere reaction and commentary. I would also highly recommend listening to Leader of the Band. That song was played in memory of my beloved grandfather.
Can’t go wrong with Dan Fogelberg. So many beautiful songs. My personal favorite is Nether Lands. Even if you don’t review it, take a listen. It will be diamonds in your ears. I heard someone say that once.
A beautiful single lady who was my neighbor introduced me to Dan back in 1974. I’ve been a diehard fan since!! I’ll never forget the day we lost him….such a beautiful soul ❣️.
Wonderful choice Jami! Dan Fogelberg was a favorite of mine and I truly believe he was greater than he was ever given credit for. Just a stunningly talented singer/songwriter/musician. His beautiful voice just melts me and this song especially is just gorgeous. Thanks for the great reaction Harri 🌺✌️
Makes me so happy to see that you love Dan Fogelberg! I fell in love with him when I was a teenage girl. The first song I ever heard by him was "Next Time". It really showcases his amazing piano and vocal skills and pulls at the Heartstrings.
Thanks,Harri.. a bit teary-eyed here after this one. Always loved it since it was released. You can't go wrong with anything by Mr. Fogelberg. Cheers, T
There's an American television producer named Dan Fogelman, and every time his name pops in a show's credits, I always think of Dan Fogelberg and this beautiful song. (Sometimes Leader of the Band, too.) Great pick and reaction! I remember this one fondly.
Just a perfect song. Always loved this song. For sure was the first dance at many 💑 weddings. Thanks Jamie and Harri. Knew you'd love it Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Another song that showcases Dan's beautiful vocals is "Since You've Asked" from his Twin Sons With Diifferent Mothers album. Stunning! It's a cover of Judy Collins song.
This is a rabbit hole that you will definitely be better for going down. I have all of his albums and he is an absolute genius. We lost Dan in 2007 but we have his music "Ever On."
I was only one year old when this song was released. I think I vaguely remember hearing it before. I was sitting in the living room with my mother, and it was an infomercial advertising those CD's for sale. I remembered the name of the song and decided to listen to it. I listened to it practically every day. And I really started balling when I heard it at first. I always feel like GOD/THE HOLY SPIRIT gave him these lyrics. I feel like this is God speaking to His children about how HE love us. Like the Bible says I knew you before you were in your mother's womb. I believe it is applicable to a spouse to another spouse, a parent to a child, a child to a parent, and so on and so forth. Like the Bible says God is the author and finisher of our faith and HE predestined our lives. That include what career we are supposed to do, who we are to marry, where we will live, and so on and so forth. That's why it's imperative for us to draw closer to Christ for ourselves. So HE can tell us why we are here.
This was Dan's biggest chart hit. I would suggest some other songs of his for your consideration - "There's a Place in the World For a Gambler" - "The Reach" and "Leader of the Band." The last one inspired by his father.
Wonderful lyrics as well, its a sin this artist didn't win a Grammy!! I always adored his music as a teen and young man!!
Best love song ever.
It's so nice to know that young people appreciate this music.
Hari, you wake up so emotional maybe because...even in your dreams you are just so in touch with your heart. And being as sensitive as you are, that's what makes you so enjoyable to listen to.These are raw emotions. I love listening to a cool guy who is true to his ❤️.
Simply beautiful
Pure Beauty!!!!!
I love Folelberg. Growing up in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and till today 7/11/22 I have heard so much great music with poetical lyrics.
This song is pure poetry, literally. This song was played at many weddings.
I love Dan Fogelbergs music, in this song, I loved the book metaphor he used in this song to measure time. He did write this song himself, he did so while he was on vacation in Maui. It hit the number 2 spot on the top 100 Billboard for a week in February 1980. Thanks!!!
This song is the soundtrack of my husband and my life. We've been married 37 years and have experienced growing old together just as this song says.
"Hard To Say" is another great song from Dan. 👍
Love Dan Fogleberg, beautiful voice, with lovely lyrics. Hope you listen to a couple of other tunes, " Run for the Roses"' "Leader of the Band" the latter is about his love for his father. So sad we lost him too early. Thank you for the memories.
He did Leader of the Band already.
@@jamishops Thank you, I just recently started watching his channel.
this turned out to be his biggest hit. We lost Dan to prostate cancer but he left behind lots of great music. Next try "Only The Heart May Know" a duet with the incredible Emmylou Harris.
Dan Fogelberg is an angel sent to earth. His music heals big time. 💛🧡❤
Incredible musician. Beautiful song. Gone way to young.
@Rick Casper, I love the song whose title I don't recall, "I met a friend at a grocery store" what a sad but great song.
@@charlesdavis7461 that's Another Old Lang Syne.
Way too young.
Sometimes when I listen to music this beautiful I get so affected by it I begin shaking.
I've listened to this song for over forty years and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes. It's such a powerful declaration of love and a reflection of the timeless poetry of Dan Fogelberg. Thanks, Harri, for your heartfelt reaction.
igual me hace llorar
Such a beautiful song
I thank the music industry of the 70s for all of the beautiful songs of the Super 70s!!
I love the French Horn in this song.
dan could do it all - outstanding songwriter, musician, and singer - and he left us way too soon.
I agree with Ray. Same Old Lang Syne is such a well written, performed and moving song.
Ty for sharing Harri...
This song came out in 1979 and got very limited air play but it was beautiful and I remembered it. So when I had my first dance with my new bride less than 2 years later in 1981 this song played during our first dance. That was 42 years ago and we're still together.
A Hym... Nothing more, nothing less...
I loved Dan Fogelberg back in High School.
The sentiment is so beautiful, just wish it could be true in actual life
Thank you.
This was our wedding song- comes with beautiful memories❤️
this was one of our wedding songs.....and we'll celebrate 40 years in a couple of weeks......just a wonderful song
I said it before and I'll say it again, he sings from his soul. Beautiful
I wanted this played at my wedding..I regret not doing. Beautiful song 🎵 for the ages.
Another fave, Sketches. Have most of his albums & just as many of his piano music. I’m 70, Native Coloradan. I was so lucky to see him in person many times. Dan did not consider himself a poet, but these lyrics bely that notion. A supremely romantic song that has been performed at many weddings over the years. Ever on, Dan. ❤❤
No worries Harri. I cannot stop tears when I hear this song. Even when my wife and I have disagreements, this will set things right. Thanks again.
yes, well said
Same with me. Tears come profusely. The music and the words are stellar!
The perfect love song. Would be wonderful to have someone to sing it to.
This is my favorite of his. Amazing. Leader of the band is excellent too.
His music is always as beautiful as his words. On this song, he always sounded like David Gates of Bread to me.
I can see that comparison with David Gates on, say, If. Ethereal. Dan wrote several songs like this: Scarecrow's Dream, The Sand And The Foam, Believe In Me, Colors Of Eve...
always thought if I ever get married this is the song I want played so love it
Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful man. I love this song most, in addition to "Hard To Say", "Run For The Roses", "Leader Of The Band", "Same Auld Lang Syne", "Language Of Love", "Part Of The Plan", etc.
Beautiful song beautiful reactor love you
His Netherlands album is outstanding!
Along with his Captured Angel, innocent Age,and a few others too!
I played the Netherlands album constantly after I bought it.
Shout out to the beautiful string arrangement as well!
One of the most beautiful love songs ever penned. R. I. P. Dan Fogelberg
One of my all time favorites.
This song is so beautiful that it deserves a complement with Bob Scaggs' song "Sierra", another fantastic ballad. Saludos
Dan was a great storyteller. His song Go Down Easy still brings a tear as it's about a widow.
I agree with your reaction Harri ! Thanks Jami for this great song ✌💫👍
A poem put to music.
And NOW you know why "I am a Rock" exists for some of us.....you cannot experience a love like that and just "bounce back" when they die....tooooo young....
A gorgeous song in every facet. 👍
Awesome song brother Harri...May he rest in peace...so many heart felt tunes came from this man
Just a beautiful song by a beautiful artist. RIP Dan.
I’ve always liked longer, and it was a song that I used at my wedding. And 30 years later I still feel the same about my lady, we’re older and wrinkled and cracked but we’re still in love with each other.
That song is poetry.
Cool guys allow themselves to be emotional 😊❤. I have always loved Dan Fogelberg. His voice is angelic and such beautiful lyrics!
I have this song accompanying a slideshow of photos of my late husband. It always reminds me of him. Gorgeous!💔🌹🎶
"Same old lang syne" is another heartbreaker!
Absolutely 💯 beautiful song 🎵, grew up listening to Dan Fogelberg 🇦🇺
I always loved the imagery in this song, especially: "Thru the years as the fire starts to mellow, burning lines in the book of our lives; though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow..."
Ever opened an old old book and hear the crack and smell the dust and see the yellowish paper?
I was introduced to Dan in about 1973, by a neighbor lady…I passed the torch on, as we all should do. Dan was not just a musician but a poet and a sage! Listen, learn and live thru the love of his spirit ✌️

It is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded by him. It is a beautiful dreamy love song. ❤️
My favorite song by him. Great memories from 1980.
I just left a comment that said basically the exact same thing :)
Those 70s geniuses really knew how to touch people!
This man could write songs. Such an incredibly talented artist. I can’t put into words
how much his music means to me. I was devastated when I heard of his passing.
Dan Fogelberge and Tim Wiseberg did an album together. It is memorable.
They did two...the famous Twin Sons Of Different Mothers in 1978, and the almost totally forgotten No Resemblance Whatsoever in the mid 1990s...
So this song came out in 1979, I was 19 years old and played this for my parents. This is their love song. They both had tears in their eyes when it was done!! Ba bam 🥰
This is my all time favorite Dan Folgelberg song. So many wonderful memories!
Beautiful words and melody.
Great song Jamie.
Had the privilege of seeing him in concert twice. One was him with his whole band and the other was a purely acoustic concert. No electronic instruments....just him with an acoustic guitar and a piano. Check out the song Netherlands if you want to hear a soaring song.
Wish I'd seen DF live. Never had the chance. Re Nether Lands, that whole album is a diamond...

Thanks for keeping great music alive!
One of the most beautiful ballads ever written. I enjoy your sincere reaction and commentary. I would also highly recommend listening to Leader of the Band. That song was played in memory of my beloved grandfather.
He did Leader of the Band a few months ago.
He’s been a fav of mine since the 70’s - his Netherlands album is a masterpiece! I have all his works and listen regularly. So glad you love him, too!

Nether Lands is my favorite too! It's an absolute masterpiece
Agree, it is a masterpiece. I am learning piano at age 67. Nether Lands is one of the songs I am learning. Love it!
A beautiful single lady who was my neighbor introduced me to Dan back in 1974. I’ve been a diehard fan since!! I’ll never forget the day we lost him….such a beautiful soul ❣️.
He really was a superstar. RIP Dan.
He has long been a voice that I find utterly beautiful. Miss him.
And if you hadn't reacted like you did I might worry about you
Wonderful choice Jami! Dan Fogelberg was a favorite of mine and I truly believe he was greater than he was ever given credit for. Just a stunningly talented singer/songwriter/musician. This is a good song to "get emotional to", Harri!
Windows and Walls is a great album as well, lots of musical stories...
You have great taste Harri this is also my favorite song from Mr. Fogelberg. 👍🏽
This was the first record that I ever owned. I was 6 or 7 and begged my parents to buy it for me!
I LOVE YOUR EMOTION!
It IS COOL - SO COOL
Makes me so happy to see that you love Dan Fogelberg! I fell in love with him when I was a teenage girl. The first song I ever heard by him was "Next Time". It really showcases his amazing piano and vocal skills and pulls at the Heartstrings.

There's an American television producer named Dan Fogelman, and every time his name pops in a show's credits, I always think of Dan Fogelberg and this beautiful song. (Sometimes Leader of the Band, too.) Great pick and reaction! I remember this one fondly.
Amazing #2 hit from when I was 8! I loved this song so much as a kid, and still do!!!

The one about his dad "Leader of the Band" is a favourite.
Glad you reacted to this. One of my favorites.
Another singer/songwriter taken from us way too soon. He's been gone since 2007, I think. He had such a lovely voice and a really good heart.
I was only one year old when this song was released. I think I vaguely remember hearing it before.
