      Honestly, yeah. At least reviewers who daily drive a windows 10 device are still relatively unbiased. These apple reviewers not only give out false info, but make the opposing windows devices look bad. And when the windows device excels, they always play it down by saying "oh it's overkill", or that the difference is marginal, even if it's not.

    • @WolfofNightMusic
      @WolfofNightMusic Před 6 lety +2

      maybe he should have installed windows 10 on the macbook, but ultimately I don't see why he would compare them both. A computer from 2017 to a newer computer from 2018, not to forget that they both run different os. they also target different audiences. if you have other apple devices, like using apple pro apps, or minimising the risk of viruses which could steal your data, then the mac book would probably be a better choice. But if you need that extra power in a portable device for software, or you want something portable you can game on, then the xps system or another alternative windows laptop would be the choice. out of these 2 systems, the macbook would suit me better, but even then that is overkill for what I do on a laptop. my 2012 macbook pro still sustains around 6 hours battery when surfing the web, doing trades ect... it even manages 1080 prores.

  • @a4andrei
    @a4andrei Před 6 lety +12

    The XPS is waaay better looking but the build quality of the Mac is slightly above the one on the XPS. The first one is subjective but the other one is not. I had lots of issues with the last gen XPS 15 (dead pixels, defective keys and audio jack, rattling fans, uneven chassis). I exchanged about 5 of them before giving up.

    • @Noah-Lach
      @Noah-Lach Před 6 lety

      Andrei Agulescu I gave the XPS 15 a fair shot but I couldn’t put up with the wobbly feet, creaky chassis and poor tolerances. The giant gap between the screen and body in clamshell mode isn’t befitting of a $2000 machine, especially not when you see it side by side with a MacBook Pro.

    Okay, firstly I think mentioning that this was the 1080p version in the beginning would have been great, because when you said "when it comes to screens the MacBook's is better in every way" I was like dude.. duuuuddde, the Dell has 4k, 100% Adobe RGB and 99%SRGB no way that's true. THEN, it showed it's the 1080p version.
    Lately I have found windows 10 to be much better than MacOS if I am being honest, and I say this having the 2017 version of the 15 inch MacBook Pro as well as a previous gen XPS15 (yes, you guessed right, I'm a heavy duty programmer who needed CUDA cores but loves Macs). When you put a 4k video the reds and greens on the xps are.. jaw dropping, and when you use the Mac after prolonged use of the Dell, the bezels look a little crusty. I've never liked 13 inch laptops though. It was a great video though, thanks

    I hate how people act like they have to choose sides. Ford OR Chevy, XBOX OR Playstation, etc... I use both almost daily and I just prefer Apple's OS. My favorite OS ever is Windows 7. When Windows 8 came out, I tried it and absolutely hated it. Windows 10 is better, and I am tempted to get a laptop with Windows 10 installed to give it more of a chance. I'm in the market for a new laptop right now, so I'm watching lots of laptop review videos. Going to get a new one for school which starts next month.

    Those quad core chips really are impressive. I’m interested to see how well they perform in the new MacBook Pros since the XPS laptops tend to have pretty poor thermals.

    • @JordanDurzi
      @JordanDurzi Před 6 lety +1

      The quad core thing is a placebo. It's more threads packed into the same 15W package. Still 14nm. All they've done is give you the same power but divided differently. If I had a choice, I'd much prefer a 2 core 4 thread CPU running at an almost constant 2.8-3.0ghz over a 4 core 8 thread CPU running at 1.8-2.0ghz. Depends if your workload requires more multithreading. Mine favours IPC / clock speed. :P

    • @Noah-Lach
      @Noah-Lach Před 6 lety

      Jordan Durzi I was referring more to the 28w processors used in the 13” Touch Bar model which I believe will see a much larger benefit due to the increased power envelope. That should be quite a noticeable performance increase for multithreaded tasks. You’re right that it won’t benefit all workflows, but base clock isn’t really a factor in modern CPUs and AFAIK they Turbo Boost almost as high as their dual core predecessors so you shouldn’t lose too much performance in single threaded applications.

If money isn't much of a concern for you and you are comfortable with MacOS go with the MacBook. But, if you are like me and want a quality high-end product but are on a budget, dell offers some great deals on refurbished (or even occasionally new) laptops through their outlet website. even a refurbished MacBook pro is going to run you around $1100 for the lowest end model. Through the dell outlet i was able to get a new xps 13 9360 with and i5 and upgraded ram and storage for around $800. definitely something to consider if you are trying to decide between the two.

      The price of that thing makes it a pure clunker. The exoticness of such a beautiful machine comes sadly with a pricetag that's well in MBP territory and depreciates the hallmark that is of Windows laptops to be known as better value-oriented options to the opposite Apple line - at least the Dell has more options and is able to segment it's different models a nth better (1499 for 16gb DDR4 ram 256 ssd and an 8750h, holy shit, only thing the matebook has over the dell or any 15 inch lappy is its 14" more portable frame).

      not to mention ports by having a full USBA
      and what you mean by "more portable frame" is not just the 14" screen but the 91% sbr aswell ...
      also his complaints about speakers and touchpad should really be gone with the matebook - likely because they look and work like mbps setup, just better.
      let me as the other way round what does the mbp have thats clearly far supperior to the matebook? (other then the higher price that is ;) just kidding)

    I have been using the Macbook Pro and now the Dell XPS 13 9370 and i must say the review is good and fair. But a quick note on what i felt that is not true in the review are - the under rating of 4K in Windows 10 OS and in 13 inch. I use the 4K with Netflix and some good games in XPS 9370 and i must say it is awesome. Plus the speakers on new 9370 will blow your mind off - Sorry but Apple comes no way closer to that theatrical surround effect. Also the keyboard is one up than the apple macbook pro which after my using 9370 feels like a cheap mechanical keyboard. And the Windows Hello face unlock is awesome once you have trained it enough. It is just as fast as it is shown in the video. And for those who process lot of photos and videos - Dell XPS 9370 is a blessing in disguise.

    Apple's screens are in a class of their own. When it comes to PCs I find the XPS 9370's screen to better than most. Same with the macbook speakers, no pc laptop can match them. In the end most people just look for a laptop within their favourite OS and if you are going with Windows I'd say the XPS 13 9370 is the best (including the matebook). Get the 16GB ram/512GB ssd version if you can.

      @MP Lovecraft "Apple's screens are in a class of their own."
      Apple screens are very good no doubt but you should remember they are reviewing the XPS with a 1080 screen. The 4k screen model has better color accuracy and higher resolution than the Mac. Also the 4k model it's 415 nits not 350 nits (1080) as they incorrectly claim. Not as bright as the Macbook's 500 nits, but hardly dim.
      They are right about the speakers, tho. Even the higher-end XPS 15 has subpar speakers .

    Anyone considering any of Apple's MacBooks needs to research the problems with the keyboards on all 2015 and newer MBs and 2016 and newer MBPs. The new design is leading to high failure rates for keyboards and the fix out of warranty is expensive (~$700). Warning: Do your research first.
