- Lisa Gade reviews the 2018 redesign of the popular Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook that’s slimmer, lighter (for touch screen model) and has a new cooling system featuring Gore-Tex and two fans. The XPS 13 is available with a rose gold aluminum exterior with white glass fiber woven interior as well as the traditional gray exterior with black carbon fiber interior. Like the late 2017 model 9360 that will continue to be available, the 9370 runs Windows 10 on Intel 8th generation U series 15 watt CPUs with DDR3L RAM and fast M.2 SSDs. It’s $200 more than the 9360 model, and as Dell promised it is faster than the 9360 and many competing 13” Ultrabooks thanks to performance tweaks. It’s available with full HD and 4K touch screen options, has a backlit keyboard, Killer WiFi, a Window Hello fingerprint scanner and IR camera for facial recognition log-in. The laptop has Thunderbolt 3 ports supporting 4 PCIe lanes and USB-C.

Great review! But I went with a Lenovo T470, because of your T470s review. Love the ability to change out a dying battery with a full charged one & ALL the KEY ports that are STILL important to many of us. Thank you Lisa!

I've had this laptop for more than 2 years and I love it so much. I got the rose gold model because it just looked so gorgeous online but in person it looks even better.
Which processor do u have was thinking of buying the i5 2018 version formy daughter, how does it perform now?

Thanks for addressing the issue of coil whine! I wish this were more commonly discussed. I returned an HP Spectre x360 last week because of atrocious coil whine. I find it amazing that such an expensive laptop can have such a problem. You'd think for that price point, they could out-engineer it or something.

Looks a good product - and I have a 2016 9360 and am interested in this... But big shame 32GB Ram's not available (????). With the quad core this is close to a lite workstation - especially with those full spec T3 ports. But maybe 32GB would have pushed Dell to ddr4.

Nice of Dell to send you a device with no coil whine, I wasn’t so lucky plus the killer wifi card sucks! Still on the hunt for a new device ☹️
Got this one on sale at the MS store - love it so far. The screen is incredible. There is a fan noise issue that multiple people had noticed (check out a thread on the dell site), but with a new BIOS update it seemed to be somewhat better. Anyone who had similar issues please comment - otherwise a near-perfect laptop

A lot of trips to MS store.. 2 xps 9360, 9365, 2 x360 spectre, 2 MS book 2 all haven coil whine! Now i spotted this rose gold and grab it. Everything on it is solid! Speaker is so crisp and loud, fast SSD and its very light! 4k is ridiculous lol

Hi Lisa, on average what did the cpu boost clock stabilize at mhz-wise during load? I'm worried about severe throttle with these Kaby Lake-R systems, and would like a cpu which can sustain 3 ghz on load, at least. Thanks so much!

hello hi, i just had a small clarification with rose gold and the black edition. Is the back-lit keyboard doing well equally on both or is it better on the black edition. Also any other things i should keep in mind while switching from a previous black edition(old laptop not xps though) to a new rose gold one?

Does having a white bezel kinda neutralize the coolness of the edge to edge display? With black, it seems like the edges disappear. Or was a difference even noticeable in person?

Hi Lisa! What laptop do you recommend for extended photo editing around the same price as this Dell XPS 13 9370? Something with an IPS panel that has 80+% sRGB, good brightness, decent battery life, good cpu cooling and is 13.3" up to 15.6"?

Would you recommend this notebook for amateur video editing (my channel), right now I am using the iPad Pro 10.5 with Luma Fusion which works nice.
Points I don’t like tho:
- not able to connect my external hard drive
- not beeing able through the adapter putting data back onto camera/USB etc.
- slow charging
- Missing keypad (don’t wanna buy the Apple one, doesn’t seem right tried it before)
- not able to get data on or off my phone (Honor8pro) via USB
I want something light for traveling, good battery life, great performance, and beeing able to do the stuff mentioned above

thanks for clarifying the new 9370 HD screen is glossy, there's many videos that show the HD model with a glossy screen but dell online chat have said twice that the full HD model is a matte screen

How is the performance of soldered on Killer 1535 under Ubuntu 18.04 developer edition? Like 13 for the compact size but might end up with Precision 5530 as the latter provide Intel wifi solution.

I have a Lenovo P70 and I recently received two 4TB 2.5" Samsung SSD drives and a 2TB PCIe NVMe drive as gift. Would all those 10TB work fine alongside the 512gb NVMe the laptop already has? I just wanna make sure before attempting something irreparable.

Lisa does this model 9370 have fan noise problem? Because, I bought one and it had huge fan noise problem.so, I returned it and got a Huawei Matebook X Pro. It’s a great laptop as every reviewer is saying. One small annoying issue is the trackpad rattle noise and also not sure about the support from Huawei should any issue arise later. Also, the knockoff design is a bit weird. So, for these reasons I am planning to exchange it again for a 9370. But I want to know if fan noise is a known issue with XPS 9370. Please help

Would this model or the 2017 model be good enough for Lightroom Classic & Photoshop for a serious hobby photographer? I do not need lightning speeds but, I don't want to hit retirement age editing a few photos either!
Great fan of ur reviews. Cant wait for u to review the new 9365 XPS13 2 in 1 and how it compares with the 9370. The primary drawback in the 9365 I believe is the use of the Intel Y-Series processors which I hear does not perform all that great but I am not sure how it compares to the U-Series processors from Intel.....Any insights? Also, is there really a significant difference between the 7th and 8th generation intel? Not only are the 9365 Y Series but they are also 7th Generation :-( Help!!
