    Hey Jonathan, Have you thought about revisiting your Paris first strategy esp with an actual play through with you operating the CP? GHG’s videos were good but I feel like you guys probably learnt a lot from them and I can see it being a valid strategy. Also it felt a bit like the Entente played as if they knew the CP were targeting Paris from the onset.

      @JonathanMeyer84  Před 5 lety

      I have thought about that from time to time. A big part of most strategies is that if your opponent sees it coming from a mile away, they should be able to counter it. If there's a strategy either side can employ and the other sees it coming and yet is powerless against it, that strategy is way over powered and breaks the balance of the game.

      @@JonathanMeyer84 I think it is a Strategy well worth exploring as I believe that KFF, KIF and KRF should all be viable CP strategies under the tournament rules, especially taking the time limit into account which would on average be 6 turns. CP can then play for the Economic Victory Points Victory as opposed to the Total Victory of taking Paris and another capital. Also to take into account is that CP needs a bid even with the tournament rules. To me the CP with bid of 12 and then going from there is a good starting point, it opens up lots of placement and unit choice options like thinking out side of the box and giving the Austrian's another Battleship. Anyway just some food for thought as I have been brainstorming CP strategies and recently re-watched your and GHG's Paris first videos.

    o.k, some questions I hope you can clear up Jonathan. 1: do transports always need support of other ships even when traveling through sea zones that don't have enemy ships? 2: after you drop off units from a transport where there are no enemy units can you immediately move those units or do you have to wait until next turn? 3:with air superiority won do both tanks and artillery get upgraded or must you choose between the two what gets upgraded? 4:can transports pick up units from 2 different territories that lie in the same sea zone? 5: if on your turn attacking from one to the next one adjacent and your battleship survives can it move it's other 2 sea zone move after battle is finished? 6: is a seaport considered to be mined in the occupying forces favour if the adjacent land territory it falls under is now controlled by them? 7:if the russian revolution happens does the russian income presently in the russian treasury go to the central powers? 8: do you play with the economic and political collapse rules that exist out there in regards to each nation and if so does the conquering nation get the existing money of the vanquished countries money that exists in it's treasury? Thanks in adavnce if you can clear these questions up!!

    • @JonathanMeyer84
      @JonathanMeyer84  Před 4 lety

      1) No. 2) You have to wait until next turn. 3) Both tanks and artillery get upgraded. 4) Yes. 5) In Axis and Allies 1914, both attack and non-combat moves occur simultaneously, so I would say no, the battleship cannot move after the land battle has taken place. 6) If the territory with a seaport is in enemy hands, the adjacent sea zone is still considered to be mined but the mines belong to the alliance that controls the territory. For example, if England took over Kiel, then German ships passing through sea zone 10 would have to roll and see if any of their ships got hit by mines. However, if Germany controls Kiel or if the territory is contested, Germany would remain in control of the mines. 7) No. 8) Yes I do. The first nation to seize the politically-collapsed nation's capital would get the money in its treasury.

      @@JonathanMeyer84 one more question, i am of the understanding that with tournament rules land units can move 2 spaces but only in areas you control or are contested right? so say if AH has units in and is contesting ukraine at the beginning of my turn i could move AH units from Vienna into the ukraine correct?

    Nice work on your videos, I just acquired this game and had watched your videos to help me better understand the rules. Although, I am still a little confused on American neutrality, nothing was stated about American Naval ships moving freely through sea zones while neutral. Are they allowed to do so and what if they’re in the same sea zone as an ally and that sea zone gets attacked by the Central powers, does that mean they are now in the war?

    • @JonathanMeyer84
      @JonathanMeyer84  Před 5 lety +1

      They are not normally allowed to move freely when the US is neutral. If France/England had naval units in the same sea zone as the US and Germany attacked, the American ships would be excluded from combat, neither firing defensively nor being taken as casualties. I suppose that could be superceded if Germany explicitly says they want to attack the US as well.

    Hey mate again, new to 1942 2nd, but I'm playing an online game, Germany on first move has wiped out entire Egypt forces, and I assume heading down into Africa to strip the UK of IPC, what would you do to counter?

    • @JonathanMeyer84
      @JonathanMeyer84  Před 5 lety

      You have a couple options. If India looks secure, you can try and ferry some units (with some air power) over from there and counter attack. Japan may be eying India, so be careful. Only make this counter attack if you're confident you can hold India. Another option, if the British and/or American fleets can survive a counter attack by the Germans, you could have one (or both fleets for added protection) move to the same territory off the coast of North Africa and land troops there. You'll march those troops across North Africa (adding reinforcements as needed) to start taking Africa back. If Germany has its planes scattered such that they can't all swing back around to wipe out your fleet, this could work effectively. If Japan is poised to take India if you move troops away and Germany is poised to wipe out even a combined UK/US fleet if you move it off the coast of Africa, your next best bet is to spend a turn building up further and then look to make one or both of those moves next turn.

      @@JonathanMeyer84 cheers man. Just feels like allies are doomed before the game even starts. To do all yiu described, even if it works, I feel like Russians enevitably death will be occurring with little to no stress from Germany. Turns out I used my India aircraft carrier fighter to fly into Egypt, and I used that transport to take 2 guys in to support the fighter and cleared out his Egypt forces, however he still has the transport and battle ship in sz 18 that can ferry new troops back to Egypt next turn without really breaking a sweat. 😕😕😕

      @@DeviousXP Fortunately for you, the Allies have greater economic resources. Slowing the Axis down early in the game is important in order to bring this economic advantage to bear, as its impact is felt gradually, but increases over time. You did what you needed to do to hold the line in Egypt for a turn.

      @@JonathanMeyer84 so as I said, I am new to 1942,and pretty new to AA really. I learned a massive amount during this online match (which btw is still going)
      So this guy tried to take Africa early, I cut him off via the USA going into West Africa, rather than morroco, as I didn't want to be playing chase the, so I cut him off, but I was bad with both navys, and eventually I had to stop supplying Africa cause I couldn't get a navy established, and the British couldn't enter Europe for that same reason. Luckily we were playing with a 24 IPC bid to Russia, so I actually managed to hold him off good on the west, infact I kept strafing him badly, I'd be taking 5 of his tanks and only losing infantry, he played that poorly without meat shields. He is still winning, but if I had to start again learning what I did this game,
      It would be, to let the UK build up forces in the UK, and let the USA build a large naval fleet in the Atlantic, USA would send loads into west Africa to protect it, and slowly work toward caucasus, or potentially Italy, then when when the UK has heaps, and Germany is deep toward Russia, send us fleet to UK waters, then UK builds transports, and is ready to unleash in Europe without him really seeing it, and using USA dollars to buy the naval protection. Also, I learnt late in this match, strategic bombing is key, USA needs to send a bomber to UK, and UK needs to buy a few well before the invasion, and just keep hammering away at German IPC.
      This match I spent alot on British navy, and couldn't get a foot hold on it as it kept getting destroyed, so my theory is, build usa navy in safety, then send it to protect the UK landing.
      India, I'm still not sure about, and Japan, oh one last thing, placing single soldiar on the path to where the enemy wants to go to slow them down by stopping blitzing is also key in Africa, and slwijg Japan.
      Your thoughts and suggestions to what I said? Sorry for the novel 😂
