Once when Bayern fired Rehagel a few games before the end of the season and he became the manager in 1993 and then in 1996 I think when they fired Trapattoni as far as I remember. That was also when they won the UEFA Cup against Bordeaux.

Beckenbauer is the only one with the gift to see minutes into the future and setup the necessary steps to ensure that his outcome is favorable. Just listen to his coachings during his manager days and what he tells his players to look out for in each match. His insight is incredible.
I heard Franz described as the “Bobby Orr of football” - that really put it into perspective for me as a hockey fan. This guy must have been a once in a lifetime talent.

An incredibly elegant, classy and smart player. I remember watching him more than any other German player at the time. The Kaiser they called him and I think he was the captain as well. He was a born leader on the field. And he didn’t play dirty or tackle opponents by fouling them the way they do now. He would take the ball away instead. A joy to watch him play.
