    Puskas went to Melbourne, Australia to coach, and coached some young guy by the name of Ange Postecoglou. Ange is now bringing the spirit of the Puskas style of play to a little known English club called Tottenham Hotspur. With luck, Ange might win a game or 2. He may have had a little bit of success in the past in small clubs in Scotland, Japan and his native Australia... ;)

      Oh yes, easy to imagine that it would be a great honor for Greeks to have a sporting legend learn to speak their language, even though he only learned the language to function better while he worked there and not because there was anything special about it or the Greek people. But of course, modern day Greeks always make a big deal of such things, such is their desperation to be 'special' on the back of the truly special, but unrelated, Greeks of over 2,000 years ago. It's embarrassing for a modern Greek to be so proud that a soccer player learned to speak his language. Think about it.

    Hungarian footbalteam was something different in that era. First team demonstrated the total football. Worldclass players played in every position. Some people say Kocsis was even better than Puskas. And there was Hidegkuti, Czibor, Bozsik, Grosics, Buzanszky and the others. Their style was so unique and they were all highly technically skilled.

    Eastern Europe got some of the hidden gem yet underrated in most of the time such as Nedved, Hagi, Yashin, Lato, Panenka, Stoichkov, Suker, Boniek, Shevchenko, Dzajic, Boban, Savicevic, Stankovic, Stojkovic, Kvasnak, Dasayev, Balakov and etc.
    Not to say that their not popular, but compare to the media attention most of the time they got less publicity than the Western Europe's counterpart.

    On the first match Germans injured Puskás badly. At the previous evening of the final the whole Hungarian team could not sleep in the hotel because of a noisy party. At the entrance of the final the bus brought the team into a crowd of people where Hungarian players were pushing and pressing for the entrance into the stadium. So many "incidences." I love fair play

    • @hansenmax2133
      @hansenmax2133 Před 6 lety +3

      I'm magyar, but to being fair, the first german goal wasn't offside. Lóránt was closer to Grosics when the ball passed, and he passed it to Morlock with an unlucky move. Well, the second one is much more problematic: just listen what Schafer is doing with Grosics at 1:25...

    My grandpa saw Puskas play. He had a penalty that he took, and he hit the ball so hard, that it hit the keeper in the chest and collapsed his lung. What a legend. I would’ve loved to watch this team play.
