    Hobbyist woodworker and relative 3D printing newcomer - super interested to see more ways you’re solving woodworking problems with 3D printing and vice versa.
    Re: silent steppers - it’s actually the stepper motor drivers that are silent, not the steppers. The drivers are on the motherboard, so a single ~$45 motherboard upgrade will silence all the steppers on the printer. And once you experience printing without the awful high-pitched whining - even if it’s mostly muffled up - you’ll never want to go back. My printer is now located in my basement and I don’t regret for a second having opted for the silent motherboard.

    Are you sure those filament roll holders are beefy enough? :D

      Using up some bearing I had no other use for, otherwise wouldn’t have gone so extreme

      Could probably load up some lead filament on those bearings.

      He forgot to mention he buys 100kg rolls of filament. Might need to be taller and wider tho... :D

    Keeping the heat in is good. Helps prevent warping. The electrics are up to it and won't suffer from the heat.

    This video makes several I've seen now utilizing flexispot desks, your previous video, and I also watched a Blacktail Studios. I'll be keeping them in mind when I build my next sit/stand desk.

    Excellent build! Out of the box the Ender 3 is quite loud. I swapped the OEM control board for MKR Mini E3 v3 since it comes with silent stepper motors. I also use the patio stone and foam hack from Stephan as CNC Kitchen to dampen the vibrations. With these changes I can print while in the office and not be bothered by the sound with the printer four feet from my chair.

    You'd have to move the spools outside, but if you enclosed that space to create a heated chamber you should mitigate warping in the prints.

    • @AndrewKleinWW
      @AndrewKleinWW  Před rokem

      right, I'm hoping it will help a little bit as it, warmer than no protection at all but not enough to cause problems with the spool. We will see.

      Depends on the print material and the temperature of the chamber, though. If I remember correctly, a heated chamber for PLA can cause more warping.

    Excellent job you done andrew. I'm really interested to see the other two printers in it when it is completed and the level of noise reduction

    Go check out CNC Kitchens' video about quieting down printers. It would be an easy addition to what you're doing without changing motors, controllers and such.

    Idea: multi level work surface with different tools mounted at each level. Lowered, one tool, raise it up, boom, different tool. Twist on the flip cart concept.

      You could probably fit 3 shelves that work like a ferris wheel. I seem to recall someone did a build like that a while back. But it was manual I believe. Motorized would be amazing.

    Fantastic work, Andrew! Really brilliant way to keep the 3d printers hide! 😃
    But that bearing... Wow! 😯
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

    Ideation for FlexiSpot: Ability to roll it over to where materials are stored (sheets of plywood, heavy metal stock) load it, roll it to the work area (workbench/table saw), lift it up and place it set it down as needed. Help prevent back injuries and that.

    It's not even the motors you need to change out, you just need to swap out the motor driver boards! Very often it's a small secondary PCB that you can swap out. Get something like a TMC2209 driver set from BigTreeTech for $25 and you should be set! Unless you have to swap out the whole control board, I'm unfortunately not familiar with doing that to Ender printers

    Great idea, I do recommend silent steppers though (I hate that high pitched sound old steppers make).

  • @jacobsilverman3281

    I also keep a couple of Ender 3's in my office. Upgrading the fans and stepper drivers makes them pretty silent.

    Great job as usual. Does it make since to have the printer pivot 90 degrees once it pulls out for easier access to the front? I have no idea just wondering.

    • @AndrewKleinWW
      @AndrewKleinWW  Před rokem +1

      Hey man, thanks for following as usual. Yes that would make it a bit easier but probably not enough that I would add the complexity it would take for the extra pivot, not too bad as it

    Your not going to run the 3d printer with it out on the slides, are you?
