    Look at you Dennis, how far you became in woodworking. I remember watching your videos at the very beginning with almost 1K Subs and Main theme was China Tools. Never was disappointed and your esthetic eye on little things is just a pleasure to watch. Would love to see more of this kind of projects and the beautiful workshop in action.

    Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Dennis is the only woodworker on CZcams who ALWAYS wear his Personal Protection Equipment at all times: glasses, gloves, solid pants, good shoes, ear protection either soft or hard, and mask (without mentioning his new workshop air filtration system shown in previous videos). I am too old to care now, but it is nice to see someone demonstrating the right way to keep the workplace as safe and healthy as possible. The new generations of DIY enthusiasts and weekend hobbyists who take inspiration from Hooked on Wood should thank you for being a role model. Well done. 🏆🥇🏅

    Hello Dennis,
    I was one of the viewers who asked for more project videos. So, thank you very much for this upload!
    As I mentioned before I really like your basic designs. It is simple yet beautiful and with the integration of hardware, cable management and drawers it has some unique features.
    I disagree, that your projects have nothing to add. It is true that there are lots of great woodworking youtubers, but their builds are quite different from yours. Lots of people build super fancy stuff with extravagant design which is complicated to build. Others build just simple (plywood-)projects without the clever features and the craftsmanship that you include in your projects. So the combination of simple and easy to build design with clever features and a high level of craftsmanship ia quite rare. It is a shame that these kind of videos get so few views.
    I've cherished the idea of building a height adjustable desk for quite some time now. When it comes to that I'll definitely steal some of your ideas😅.
    Thanks and regards,
    Richard

      @HookedonWood  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The speakers are from KEF, the LS50. The cords are a legacy from my past as an Audiophile. I like better powercords to give the sound more attack. But also a better shielding because there are some cables inside my desktop and I do not want them to interfere with each other.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Dank je, die kabels zijn stevige stroomkabels. Een erfenis uit mijn verleden als Audiofiel. Vond het nu met name zinvol omdat er relatief veel stroom kabels en data kabels lopen en wil dat deze kabels elkaar zo min mogelijk verstoren.

  • @nirgosh
    @nirgosh Před 11 měsíci

    Love the design and the simplicity, thank you for sharing. I have a question: Why did you choose to cut the 45º on the riser pieces of the desktop on the sliding part of the table saw instead of using the fence?

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Because I had to cut both sides at 45 degrees, with the second cut there is a risk the sharp edge will go under the fence and at the other side it is fragile. Second reason is that because the overhead blade guard for a bevel cut is wider and the width of this workpiece is not that wide, I could not guide it with my hands, so I would have to use one stick, but that gives a change of turning the piece a little bit while pushing it. Last it that this way, I had the possibility to place some hold down clamps so the cut would be cleaner and best change on perfect cut.

But it is also more sophisticated than the FAT, and what I am not sure of is if this means more fragile for a bit of abuse. But there is no movement at all in all directions with this table. And I think it has enough lifting capacity to be safe for a workbench.

    Dennis - It's been 5 months since you posted this; are you still pleased with your choice of the Flexispot E7Q? I'm looking into one and wanted your thoughts on a long(ish) term review. Thanks!

    welke ladegeleiders heb je hier gebruikt?

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 11 měsíci

      dat zijn eigenlijk gewoon hele simpele laden. www.meubelbeslagcenter.nl/push-to-open-ladegeleiders-350mm-zijmontage
      Zijn dus eigenlijk voor zij montage, maar omdat ze weinig belast zullen worden durf ik het wel aan. Ik wilde de zijkanten vrij-houden. De traditionele onder montage geleiders vind ik te hoog. Dan hou ik niet veel meer over.

    I understand not doing plans for the reasons you said, but could you maybe list the components that you have stored and where? Might be easier to match your aesthetic that way.

    Hi Dennis, I like your videos/projects very much but a short hint: you should never use gloves with rotating machines! This is really dangerous and can be taken by your viewers as an example. Cheers, Arne

    • @duster8100
      @duster8100 Před 11 měsíci

      Gloves don't protect hands from blades and if you suffer a blade injury with gloves on they have to get the gloves off which might not be too pleasant either. Using a slider hand injury incidents are just about impossible if a Frits and Frans jig is used for smaller parts and cutting panels hands are in even less danger.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks and I understand your concern. I will make a disclaimer next time to avoid viewers think it is OK to use gloves.
      For me it is a calculated risk. If I can not wear my gloves, it kick out the fun of working in my workshop. It does not feel comfortable without gloves. That does not mean I take safety lighthearted. In the small village where I live, we drive past each other at 80km per hour when oncoming traffic arrives. The space between the two cars is then 1.5 meters. That is deatly dangerous. But we all thake that risk on a daily basic. While working in my workshop, I try to avoid all distractions and focus. I am aware of the increased risk I am taking that the consequences could be more serious in case of an emergency. But just like driving a car, I assume that with proper focus, the chances of an accident are small.

    Hi Dennis. So many of your projects have a black MDF product that you use. I think it looks great. Can you tell me a product name and possibly a link? I would love to purchase some if it is not too expensive and available in America. The desk is beautiful.

    Please, no gloves on rotary machines, never. From the manual of the jointer/planner : 2.7 Personal protective equipment "It is prohibited to wear gloves while working on or with the machine!". It is such a hazard. Please be safe

      @@HookedonWood I'm not mad I am just not interested in the video because it does not relate to my level ...
      I cant afford a tenth of the equipment you now have due to your growth in income and freebees from you tube and sponsors..
      China tools episodes are great... But for me an episode where you use equipment that the standard wood worker can never afford well my demographic doesn't gain any value from watching that type of video..
      Just saying...
      I use to watch April Wilkinson but she got so much stuff and a huge shop with cnc's..
      I stopped watching due to non relate-ability..
      But every Video that you create that I can relate to at my level I will watch..
      I am just being honest......I just don't want you to get so much stuff you forget the guys that can't have it like April did..
      It just would make me sad...
      Because I love your videos just not the ones that remind me that I am not well off..and can not learn from if I need a huge table saw or a 1000$ tool... Please don't forget your base...because you make some wonderful stuff with just the regular tools and that's what inspires me..
      To sum it up I did not intend this to sound nasty I just did not want to lose another great channel to commercialization..
      Sorry for the long reply its hard to type a reply that comes across right (I am not mad or upset and I did not intend to put your work down) Just wanted to let you know in an honest manner that I can't relate to this..

    Respectfully I disagree… we will never have enough craftsmen sharing their skills with the rest of us…. At 56 I am still learning from others… But with that said, not enough go into details on their projects as to what they are doing and why…
