The main reason for the break up of Pakistan is inequality. Lack of justice oppression oppression

I was shocked with the speaker's response to the question on what was the biggest loss for Pakistan. She replied Kashmir. Dude, you lost 56% of your fellow Bengali citizens who fervently supported the pakistan cause in 1947, who were a part of you. Her reply is a proof that we Bengalis were never a concern of yours. Pakistan has always been obsessed with Kashmir and India, totally ignoring the needs and issues of its own provinces, Bengal and Balochistan. And by calling our liberation war, Indo pak war, you totally sidelined the main actor in the situation, Bangladesh herself. Yes, we indeed took India's help. But it was our own war, never India's. You are making a supporting character the main protagonist. It was a war fought by every single Bengali. You cannot snatch away our struggle from us. India intervened in December. So the war fought between the month of March to November, is that a joke to you? You inflicted so much torture, cruelty and atrocities on your fellow countrymen that 1 crore of them had to become refugee in India. 1 crore of your fellow citizen took shelter in another country to survive from the cruelty of the army that was maintained by their own tax money. What a joke! And you are blaming India for this chaos! What was she supposed to do? How long would she feed 1 crore refugees and why should she? You massacre your countrymen when they demand for the basic legitimate democratic rights, kill their children, rape their daughters and expect them to remain loyal to you? What a joke! And we could have been in a way better position, had you not killed our most brilliant minds on 14 December. That was the lowest level of cowardice, unprecedented in the history of the world. How could you stoop so low! When you realised you cannot win the war, you killed our scholars and leaders on that day, so that we as a nation may never prosper. You should be ashamed of yourselves for what you did to us. And you call yourselves Muslims? How could you do this to your fellow Muslim brothers?

Well most of the current Pakistani generation is sympathetic to the Bengali cause as there has been a gradual realization of past antipathy the West Pakistanis inflicted upon the Bengali people. My concern as a neutral observer of history (well I'll try to my best to be one) is the intermixing of so many layers and exaggeration of facts and numbers that somewhat defy the reality on ground. While its hard to keep the emotions aside discussing the events of 71' I'll try to give my vents on the matter by keeping as rational as possible.
First thing first, the start of Bangladeshi movement is said to be the product of the Bangla language in the 1950s as an impression of tyrannical imposition of Urdu language is given. Well, it should be kept in mind that Urdu wasn't indigenous of the land that constitutes West Pakistan today; but despite that people here accepted Urdu as the national language proudly. This is because there was a need of a lingua franca to give diverse federating units a binding factor. How can you expect a Punjabi or Sindhi in West Pakistan to understand Bengali or even the themselves in Pakistan? As hindi was defacto lingua franca in India therefore, Pakistan required its own- and for that I think Urdu was a smart choice because it as product of Islamic civilization in India (being an amalgamation of Sanskrit, Turkish, Arabic and Persian language). But still in order to accommodate the demands of the East Pakistani brethren the first and second constitution of Pakistan (1956 and 1962) declared Bengali as the one of the national languages of Pakistan along with Urdu.

    • @m.shahrukhkhansadiq1648

Second point is that the historical facts contradict the so called power grabbing of the Western wing. Bengalis (even though less in number) enjoyed a considerable influence in the power structure as they were the torch bearers of the Pakistan movement. Khwaja Nazimuddin served as governor general and PM of Pakistan who is respected in the country till this day. Mohammad Ali Bogra and Hussein Suharwardy served as PMs too who had considerable influence in the government power structure with their roots in civilian bureaucracy too. Later the army imposed martial law to overthrow the civilian setup to rule the country with an iron fist under Ayub Khan for a decade; which of course is blamed for the centralization of power. But guess what? Who was the person that sanctioned the army to take over? Yes my friend it was a Bengali himself the first President of Pakistan Mr. Iskanker Mirza who allowed the dictatorial rule to abrogate the constitution and set a precedence that would haunt the country for years. So the irony lays down here!

Why is the sharp demographic decline of the Bengali minorities of Bangladesh never talked about nor the deliberate rapes & murders of these minorities in 1971? Has their been a Truth & Reconciliation Committee in Bangladesh about it or any apology ? If Bangladesh itself does not hold any accountability for such things nor does it do anything to attract the native minorities who fled Bangladesh back, then why should it expect anything better from other countries?

However, i don’t think the demographics of GB has changed. The region is still populated with the locals and there is no dispute. Even in Pakistan’s Kashmir there is no dispute by the locals. Pakistan has always facilitated its princely states unlike India. Honestly, i see a flaw in India’s strategy of handling Kashmir. The dynamics are very different in the region, how things operate is different too, by force India could not hold at it for long and this would create more escalation of events between India Pak and create a East Pakistan like situation. A peaceful solution is much needed today in Kashmir.

Without Bengalis strikes, present Pakistani land would’ve been under Indian territory since 1947.
Just a tell a great leader’s name from ur territory (Punjab, sindh etc) who had great impacts against British empire to make Pakistan in 1947.
      - there’s nobody in ur territory whom British took seriously. It’s for Bengalis, Britain got forced to divide Indian subcontinent. You are nowhere in the history.
Anyways, you are talking about merging with India. And, you said, Pakistan is the land of Aryan heritage. Yes, most of you are converted Muslims from Hindu. So, today or tomorrow, Pakistan will be part of India again.
And, talking about the Bengal history, Bengalis ancient name is Gangaridae nation. We ruled whole India including you.
Our mighty Bengali king Asoka invaded whole India and was the spreader of Buddhism religion against Hinduism established 2,500 years ago. Yes, Bengalis is the founder nation of Buddhism religion in the world.
To know more about Gangaridae nation, do google it. Muslim Bengalis converted from Buddhism, not like you dirty hindu from idolatries worshippers’ families.
So, Pakistan would be perfect to merge with India.
We Bengalis are unique from Indian and you who are converted from Hindu to Muslim people in terms of territory, heritage, cultures, religion etc. since ancient period. Do some study.
We Bengali are the only nation in Indian subcontinent who fought against Britain because we have balls. We are not like you transgender people.
In fact, in 1857, Bengal regiment declared the war against Britain empire throughout soldiers mutiny, but Punjab and gorkha regiment helped British empire to defeat Bengal regiment during the period. Otherwise, we could liberated India 100 years ago, in 1857. In that sense, you were actually pimp of Britain in India.
If I start to tell your history in detail, u cannot tolerate it. So, I’m stopping here.

But, when it comes to full scale of wars, they became just like doomed.
      For example,
Alexander massacred Punjab 2500 years ago. But, our Bengal king (Nanda dynasty) defeated Alexander). Therefore, throughout our Mauriyan empire, we recovered whole India from Greek army. That’s why, you have seen Buddhist monasteries in Pakistan, as Asoka was a part mauriyan empire.
In fact, 400 years ago, with the help of Bengal soldiers, sher shah defeated Mughal emperor humayun and invaded Delhi.
Even Akbar didn’t defeat our king isha kha.
And, in 1971 war, it was just phenomenal as the enemy was inside our land and cantonments.
But Bengalis proved, we are born fighters. Our history is same since last 4000 years.

But could not the same be said of Jinnah's insistence for regional autonomy? Was this not also just a negotiation tool since he later abolished regional autonomy post-independence?

Your guest did not clarify what the contradictions were with the 6 points. Mujib fought the election with 6 points being his election manifesto. The election was fair and democratic. Mujib was the clear winner. Why did Bhutto raise objection after the election. Yahya then colluded with Bhutto and decided to cancel the assembly. Bhutto boycotted and threatened his MPs. Is it not clear who was responsible for the blunder. It was clearly because Bhutto lost the election. However the story is long. It started with inequality, injustices, discrimination, domination and looting of resources from the East to the West. You can discuss, debate and argue to avoid owning up the misdeeds. It makes not a little bit of difference to the Bengalis. Unfortunately they had to fight twice for freedom. But the traitors let them down.

There was no similarities between East Pakistan and West Pakistan..We bengalis had a rich culture since before...We, Bangladeshi were totally different than Pakistan culturally, economically and in terms of so many factors..Bengali people started hating Pakistan after 1952, when Muhammad Ali Jinnah declared Urdu as a state language. That was the 1st stage of division..Then in 1954 Bengali Awami Muslim league did not get the chair in spite of getting victory...That thing gradually led to the war of 1971...Must have to admit that Pakistani Army rulers played a great role to divide East Pakistan from The West..one thing to remember , India did not give us freedom, Actually at that time India and Soviet Union(Russia) helped us a lot to get freedom. The USA was on the Pakistani side. Anyway we are happy living in our country peacefully..I wish Our country would prosper a lot in near future..

I was born a year after Partition of India so don't have firsthand knowledge of events leading to it. But I remember the huge economic burden looking after millions of refugees from East Pakistan. One had to affix a separate postal stamp marked refugee relief. Both Bhutto and Pakistani military refuse to accept Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's victory and make him the PM of Pakistan. As a young man, my memories of him are those of a young revolutionary who was fired with zeal to get a fair deal for East Pakistan. The claim that Jinnah didn't want partition of Punjab and Bengal and that he only wanted a federal or power-sharing arrangement are unconvincing. He asked for a Muslim 'homeland' from which he was prepared to exclude linguistic and religious minorities. The emergence of Bangladesh is the result of Pakistani ruling elite- both Punjabis and military- suppressing the legitimate aspirations of Bengalis.

@@shawan1st At least in our elections, we elect +20 different political parties. In our nation's history, not a single party has won a simple majority while in your country over 96% of the parliament is dominated by one single party. Now, tell me which one is a dictatorship? The one with free media, free & fair elections, independent judiciary and strong institutions or the ones whose election results looks more like North Korean elections. There is literally zero freedom of speech and zero concept of free media in Bangladesh. There are more journalists in Bangladeshi jails than Pakistani jails. How many opposition leaders are in jail or put to death in Pakistan? Now, compare that with Bangladesh where all the opposition is either in jail or killed by your dictator queen Shaikh Hasina. Everyone knows how Urdu-speaking Biharis, Rohingya refugees and Chakma Buddhists are regularly persecuted in your police state. Your country's Hindu population share has declined from 22% in 1971 to less than 8% in 2022.
Secondly, which indexes you are referring to? GDP growth rate and the Nominal GDP then yes, Bangladesh has surpassed Pakistan in those indexes but why don't you look at your GDP in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP)? Pakistan's GDP (PPP) is over $1.3 trillion while your GDP (PPP) is just above $900 billion. Also, poverty rate in your country is 29.4% while in Pakistan it is 21.9%. Pakistan is literally ranked as the 9th most powerful country in the military index while your tiny country is just at 46th. Your whole nation's exports are based on just selling textiles, jute and fishes while we export fighter jets, tanks, attack helicopter, drones, missiles, etc.
Lastly, I don't think you guys should have any audacity to call us beggars. If buying loans from international banks and other countries is considered "begging" then the United States is the biggest beggar in the world. Your own country's Debt-to-GDP ratio is over 41%. We People of Bangladesh always think that West Pakistani military and Politicians started making discrimination and outrage after journey of Pakistan. And they did it clearly. West Pakistan tried to push us to accept Urdu and Pakistani Culture in the name of religion. They made discrimination each and every sector with Us. Pakistani people should listen to these intellectuals and historians since these people have no interest/business with 'politicians' nor 'military establishment', rather analyzing historical events with facts and evidence along with timeline. Obviously in their analysis, there is no place of nonsense 'conspiracy theories' or 'twisted perspective' but based on facts and evidence. Most importantly it would take great deal of knowledge on historical events with details and professional analysis/research to come to a conclusion on given issues/events which could be considered as reliable/acceptable to learn on. So called experts on many TV talk shows, only can shed light on some dots but far from the truth, and most of the time used as a tool to mislead people for their liking. As a Bangladeshi, I hope Pakistani people rather listen to these intellectuals and historians (by profession) to learn actual history instead of those 'talk show experts'. Otherwise as they say, 'history will repeat', meaning 'same mistake will repeat' in a way or another.

After independence, we Bangladeshis requested the government of Pakistan to apologize to Bangladesh for the 1971 mass killing/massacre, but Pakistan did not agree to apologize to Bangladesh as a state.
So, if the government of Pakistan does not feel sorry for the mistakes of the past, how can we accept or cooperate with them?
No doubt that, we love Pakistani people but Pakistani government or responsible people need to feel this issue.

The USA has one language which is English inspite of having immigrants from all over the world. Jinnah was correct in declaring Urdu as the national language and English as the official language. It was imperative to have one national language to unite a country.Secondly, the official language of the ruling Muslim Empires of India was either Persian,Turkish and later Urdu but never Bengali.Bengali was just a reginal language like Punjabi, Sindhi etc.

So, I speak as someone who spent most of my life in the U.S. consider myself American of Bengali heritage and I’m also a sociologist and niece of a Mukhti Bahini. Firstly, the U.S. is a settler colonial state that committed its own genocide and has its own problematic history so I’m not sure that this is an appropriate argument. Leaving aside African slaves and native people, immigrants came to the U.S. knowing and accepting that they would have to assimilate to Anglo-American society. What happened in South Asia was something completely different. Bengalis were internally colonized by Pakistan and at some point, enough was enough and India with its own geopolitical interests took advantage. Also, as far as nations with linguistic pluralism-have you ever heard of Switzerland? That was I hope a rhetorical question.

@Redwan Rahman ,Bengali being written in the Hindu Sanskrit had nothing to do with the culture and civilization of the Muslims of India. It was just confined to the state of Bengal. Secondly, all the educated elite of East Pakistan could read and write in Persian,Urdu,Arabic and English. The solution to this Bengali language was to convert the Sanskrit alphabet to the Muslim Persian/Arabic alphabet instead of the Hindu Sanskrit alphabet just like it was done in the case of Punjabi,Sindhi,Kashmiri in West Pakistan.

@Redwan Rahman Also I want to remind you ignorant Bengali nationalists that Farsi was the official language of the Muslims rulers of Bengal which ruled all Bengal for almost 600 years. And Urdu is far closer to Farsi than the Bengali written in the Hindu Script. All the books published during the Muslim rule are published in Farsi and not in the Hindu Sanskrit which you Bengalis consider your own.It was during the British rule who encouraged the Hindu Bengali and their culture to advance in all of Bengal making the Muslims impoverished.

      @Ali-mi1hn Před 2 lety

@Redwan Rahman ,You don't understand the Muslim rule in India because you are probably brainwashed.Nobody was asking you to leave the Bengali language but our Muslim civilization in India has it's origin in Central Asia and the Middle East and not some Sanskrit or prakit which is same Hindu shit to me.The Bengali alphabet should have been changed to the Persian/Arabic script in 1947 and that should have been the end of it.That's how even West Pakistanis would have an easier time to learn and read Bengali.Urdu was the national language in most British India and even Hindus and Sikhs admired its sophistication.Don;t forget that people in Pakistan still speak their reginal languages but they are all written in the Persian/Arabic script.Even the great Persian Empire when fell to the Muslims changed their script to Arabic but retained their language.Same is the case with the Seljuks,Ottomans,Mamluks,Spanish Muslims and so on.Don't you Bangladeshi learn the Arabic script when reciting the Quran?

    • @Ali-mi1hn
      @Ali-mi1hn Před 2 lety

@Redwan Rahman And just to remind you none of the Muslim Empires in India of which you and I are the product never adopted the Hindu Sanskrit or prakit to rule india. They always retained the Persian/Arabic script instead of adopting the local Sanskrit script of the Hindus for their 700 years rule over India. The Farsi/Arabic script is the basis of our Muslim civilization in the Indian subcontinent and not Hindu Sanskrit or Prakit which is alien to our civilization.

People of East Pakistani Bengali totally deprived by economically and politically from 1947 to 1971. West Pakistan from the first day don't like East Pakistan Bengali people. So why Bengali people liberated their mother land 1st reason - language barriers, 2nd - West Pakistan's administration dominated the East Pakistan's. When Pakistan was created in 1947, it had two geographically separate parts: East Pakistan (currently known as Bangladesh) and West Pakistan (currently known as Pakistan). The two parts were very different from each other in the sense of culture and Urdu to be the sole national language of Pakistan, even though Bengali or Bangla was spoken by the majority of people combining East Pakistan and West Pakistan. The East Pakistan people protested, since the majority of the population was from East Pakistan and their mother language was Bangla. They demanded Bangla to be at least one of the national languages, in addition to University of DhakaAbdus Salam, Abul Barkat, Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, Abdul Jabbar and Shafiur Rahman died, with hundreds of others injured. This was a rare incident in history, where people sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue. 1958 Pakistan Army General Ayyub Khan took power. General was against pro-democratic leaders. Soon after that, Sheikh Mujib emerged as a democratic leader in East Pakistan who demanded autonomy for East Pakistani region. At the time, General elections are held in Pakistan in which Mujib's party Awami League won absolute majority in 1970 election , despite unequal distribution of seats based on census between West and East Pakistan. Having control of West Pakistan into hands of East Pakistan was not acceptable to Pakistani PM Bhutto and army ruler . He knew Mujib has friendly relations with India & he would be solve all the problem with India, and this would be disastrous for the national security of Pakistan. After that, martial law was applied on whole Pakistan, Mujib was arrested by West Pakistan's administration and then starts the "Idea of Independent Bangladesh" and it's liberation struggle. Then in 1971, General Tikka Khan was appointed to take control on the situation of East Pakistan. Instead of solving the matter peacefully, the General wrecked havoc on normal civilians of East Pakistan, he executed millions of the people including women, for the sake of taking control. The East Pakistani Bengali people began leaving the country crossing the borders of India and seeking refuge in Indian from the wrath of the General Tikka Khan ( operation search light ). India facing a huge refugee crisis, conveyed this to US and urged the US president to interfere, but due to lack of interest of US President in this matter, After nine month of liberation war finally Bangladesh got the test of actual freedom in 16 Dec 1971.
