- Barkha Dutt speaks to Author & Historian, Vikram Sampath in the 48th episode of our podcast, 'Inside Out'.
Vikram sampath has authored four acclaimed books, Splendours of Royal Mysore: the Untold Story of The Wodeyars, My Name Is Gauhar Jaan: The Life and Times of a Musician and Voice of the Veena, S. Balachander: A Biography and Savarkar: Echoes From A Forgotten Past, 1883-1924. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi's first Yuva Puraskar in English literature and the ARSC International Award for Excellence in Historical Research in New York for his book on Gauhar Jaan. The book has also been adapted as a play, 'Gauhar', by Lillete Dubey and is being adapted to a Hindi movie by Ashutosh Gowariker.
Besides being a former senior fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, he is also a trained Carnatic vocalist. He has established the Archive of Indian Music, India's first digital sound archive for vintage recordings, and is the founder-director of the Bangalore Literature Festival, Indic Thoughts Festival and the ZEE Group's ARTH: A Culture Fest.

Here debate is not happening, a meaningful questions are being asked. Muslims can glorify Aurangzeb but they have problems with Hindus reclaiming their Holiest places. In India secularism is synonymous with Minority appeasement. Rajeev Gandhi overturned the supreme court's judgement on the Shah Bano case. They brought the places of worship act in 1991 because of this appeasement and so that Hindus cannot reclaim their Holiest places by law.

Somebody should tell Barkha Dutt that the guy who actually wrote Pakistani version of declaration of Independence was actually a devout Ahamaddiya. His name was Chaudhary Zafrullah Khan. He also became the first foreign minister of Pakistan. The leader and founder of Ahamdddiya movement Mirza Ahmad was a vocal proponent of state of Pakistan. Ahamdis were pivotal and fervent supporter of seperate country for the Muslims of Sub continent. So why should India give asylum to these people whose ancestors were instrumental in dividing the Indian subcontinent on the basis of religion.
Ahmediya was at the forefront of Partion... I think some district of Punjab was given to Pakistan because of Ahmediya...

I’m glad Vikram has sharpened his arguments about Indian Muslims and can now come directly to the point about Kufr and related Islamic theology. I remember he was hesitant about Tipu with Shekhar Gupta, when he said Tipu destroyed Hindu temples and converted people forcefully for religious AND political reasons. Vikram is fantastic. Impressed with clarity of thoughts with he presents the facts. Largely it seems that Hindus only are debating among themselves about Muslim psyche, theology and conscience; but ironically there is no debate between Hindu and Muslims on these issues; simply because they are very clear in their thought process where there is a book and no one dares to go beyond that.. 1)Dr. Anand Rangnathan and discuss his book "Hindus in Hindu Rastra" which has sold 65k copies barely in 6 months.
2) Meenakshi Jain a renowned historian who was not allowed to get prominence by congress left echo system before 2014.
3) May be J Sai Deepak who has written 2volumes of Bharat i.e. India delineating how Islamic discourse has been a problem for India thru history.

Around 37 minute mark - if Muslim population (again not all, but whatever that number may be) want to support and glorify Aurangzeb and others who destroyed the temples, then why should the Hindus (or more correctly Sanatanis) sit back and be conciliatory to prevent communal tension ?

Thanks to Barkha for bringing an highly intelligent & well researched historian as Shri Vikrsm Sampath to the table, she has hit a self goal. He is hitting sixers/rebuttals for her every letist agenda narrative questions, she must be regretting why she called him & validated the hindu cause to next level.
Exactly my thoughts too, after watching this podcast. Vikram was like “bring it on lady, and I’ll get you to tighten the noose around your neck your self listening to every factual rebuttal of mine 😂😂

Wonderful to listen to this interview....yes, Vikram summarized the sentiments of all new generation Hindus who are already out of colonial / Nehruvian conditionings......they may be voting for BJP not because BJP is delivering on all Hindu civilizational needs, but only because the other side is determined to destroy the Hindu civilization :(

She stands out as one of the foremost opponents of the CAA combined with the NRC. Has anyone considered how the CAA will benefit Hindus who cannot provide evidence of their citizenship? The CAA has conditions; individuals must demonstrate that they are non-Muslims, originated from specified neighboring nations, and arrived before 2014
If the N word can be banned in the US, why not the K word (Kafir) in India.. We don't want that label (word).. It always feels that the Muslims are doing us a huge favour by not calling others Kafir..

I am not only a supporter of Partition but a champion and I consider it very essential. I find Savarkar's demand for an undivided nation (Akhand Bharat) with both Hindus and Muslims together a very novice thinking. My only pre-condition is that every single Muslim must be moved to Pakistan and every single Hindu must be moved to India otherwise new nation will never be a stable nation which is an essential condition for progress and development. (BR Ambedkar in the book on Pakistan and Partition of India, written 7 years before actual partition. He remained supportive of this statement till the actual partition)
