He once quit smoking for the playoffs and won finals MVP...Celtics legend
Thanks for putting this together. Tommy played just before my time. I remember him as a coach and commentator. His running hook shot was a beautiful thing. Didn't know that till now.
I Have Just Watched Tommy for the first time and I am Most Definitely a Fan of Tommy now. That Running Hook Shot is So Amazing, Just Saying 🏀🏀🏀
Heinsohn's jump shot was effective but he had the strangest looking release where he pulled his shooting hand way back right after he shot the ball. Tommy looked unorthodox but he sure was effective and was an important part of those Celtics championship teams.
Tom was a beast great hook shots
Miss him. If we comeback, GODS probably going to have to wear some headphones up there because of all his hollering and cheering
One of my all time favorite players! Love those hook shots, I pattern my game heavily off of Heinsohn and Cousy!
as you know, cousy had a sweet hook too.
@@thomasscott1570 yep, and also Cliff Hagan
That’s a lot of Tommy Points!
He’s in the Hall of Fame he’s not underrated.
Now I see why he was known as " Tommy Gun."
Or Ack-Ack. As in the sound a Tommy gun makes.
Hey man, you just made yourself a superfan, you respect basketball and show love to the game I love learning and upon researching a statement this man made about Larry Bird "He played like the old timers played, with his head" and ESPN said this man had ten championships with the Celtics, I had to know of him. Bob Knight didn't put in the effort and he let the Bird in the hand fly away and a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. (You seem to know history, hope you discover what I mean by that coach Knight tid bit) Gould bless you and all the subscribers too
Happy Birthday Tommy (Aug 26th 2022) A birthday wish to you in Heaven.
Tommy will be a great 3 point shooter if he played today
As Bob Cousy stated "Tommy was the most underrated power forward in NBA history". Oh does anyone know the tune at 1:42? Thanks
Really makes you wonder wtf the hook shot went.
he had that hakeem move where you fake going one way than reverse completely to to the other side, that sideways looking move. usually performed near the baseline.. theres a proper name to it...
Hakeem shake…?
@@costumeninja1914 willis reed did it 1st and Hakeem and Gilmore and bob macadoo

I think an offseason of working on his shooting mechanics with a shooting coach instead of selling insurance and he'd have no problem with todays game. Most of those were contested shots. You can tell the game was easy for him with that behind the back pass and his dribbling and he could bang down low. I'd compare him to Gordon Hayward, probably better than Gordon. Before you knock Tommy's 2.0 assists per game average they counted assists different back then so if the guy you passed to dribbled the ball you didn't get an assist or Cousy would probably have assist numbers comparable to Stockton and Magic.
Definitely not Stockton or Magic, maybe LeBron assists a game
@@Young_Dab Lebron averaged 26 and 7 assists and Cousy averaged 19 and 8 assists per 36. He's already around Lebron's assists per game. They counted them different back then. He'd get a good bump if they counted then like they do today.
Jump hook deadly I see you tommy
Tommy hook shot
U guys should atleast give credit to “70s fan” for the content
Great player but when your surrounded with guys like cousy Russell and havlicek you get overlooked
I hope Heinsohn's family donated his left hand to science . . . . he never used it
Lol.. but he seldom needed it
he use it sometimes, I've seen him hook with the left hand at times...not nearly as much as with the right of course lol.. Russell would also hook with both hands.
