- May 5, 1993: The Charlotte Hornets had recently put together their first winning season and led the Boston Celtics two games to one in the first round. After an enormous comeback by Boston, rookie Alonzo Mourning hit the game winner with 0.4 seconds remaining to win Charlotte its first ever playoff series.

You have a point, but Glen Rice quickly made me miss Zo far less than what I expected. Rice was down right incredible at times. I'm just ready for Charlotte to get the Hornets name back!
Gotta hand it to McHale though that was a really good pass and the guy came really close to lobbing it in. Nice attempt.
The Hornets could have contended with Chicago, New York, Indiana, and later Orlando but it all went downhill because Mourning and Johnson could not get along.
And every NBA fan knows how much Mourning and Johnson disliked each other (1998)
Tony Bennett retiring early with a foot issue is what crippled them.
I remember this as a teen. The Hornets were such a hot, young team. Great fans. Now they are stuck with the shitty-ass Bobcats. Strange how things change over 20 years.

Oh i know, i seen this as a teenager also, it was my first heart break, being a sports fan, i really thought the Celtics would pull this game out, a great comeback, being down 19 points, in the 4th quarter, only to lose it like that, ohhh😣

Kevin McHale’s last game. Simmons would have you believe the Hornets pile drived him into the basket support and held him there while Mourning made the game winner. Yeah not so much.

Fox got the ball at 2:39 and was over by 2:42...10 seconds???? Also mournings shot was through with 1 second left, not 0.4??
Parish rebounded the ball first but didnt pass it to Fox until maybe 5 seconds later, i blame Parish for not calling a time out right away.

Downward smile until 2001. Then they were in the playoffs all but two years until they won the title in 08.
Yeah thought the hornets were going to be the future of the league, but we were wrong.
What a screw up by Rick Fox, all he needed to do was to pass it back to McHale, to get it over the line, he was wide open.
This was Reggie Lewis final game,as he'd died over the summer during a pick up game of basketball 🏀
His final game was actually game 1 of this series. It's such a shame what happened to him.
