    corvette wins hands down. better interior, better sound, far faster lap times, better sound dampening, more usable, far better acceleration, higher top speed, and over all a more complete package. Lotus can keep its extra few feet of braking and twitchy turn in. ;)

      Check fastestlaps.com. On the only track they've both been to, NCM Motorsport Park, the GS did 1:32.16 and the Evora 400 did 1:39.56. The GS is in a completely different class than the Evora.

    Toyota makes great strong and reliable engines. Lotus is smart for going that route. The fact thats its the Camry engine (2GR) shows everyone how potent the camry engine is. Thats not a bad thing at all. Show that that engine has potential.
    Also its not a "camry" engine this engine is used in alot of Toyotas and Lexus cars. He say "Lots of people have a problem with where its from".. Toyota is the same company that made the 2jz Supra V10 LFA V8 ISF MR2 turbo Celica-GT4 Corolla XRS with the 2zz engine and tons more. All those great engines.. are from Toyota. Anyone that hate on this engine is just a Toyota Hater.

      @Toyota4Life Před 7 lety +9

      hannanssq your a idiot. The Toyota V6 is stronger then the Accord V6 and faster. The Toyota V6 you can get a Supercharger on it.
      The Toyota V6 is used in the Lexus IS350 and it gets that car to 60 in 4.9 seconds.
      Toyota/Lexus reliability ratings are constantly higher then Honda/Acura.

    • @hannanssq
      @hannanssq Před 7 lety +2

      You fucking fanboy. You think 4.9 sec is impressive? Do you drive a fucking Prius? Even a mustang GT is faster than that. Camry is slow as hell. 5,8 sec to 60. You can get a supercharger on anything. Toyota don't come with one from factory. Also forced Induced V6 do make a lot more power. Ever heard of Porsche 911 turbo ? 580 hp from boxer 6. Ford GT V6 ? 700+ hp. Even an 4 cyclinder eco boast has better torque curve than this piece of shit. Yes it's a great engine if you are 80 years old and drive an Avalon. I am sorry if i heard your little feeling with the taste of reality. And we all know IS350 is BMW wannabe piece of shit that never really made it as a sports sedan. I feel sorry for your life if you think V6 camry is a fast car. Hopefully you will do better in life some day and would be able to buy something faster.

      The Grand Sport can pull more G's than a 488. Compared to most super cars it isn't actually that quick in a straight line, it's what's called a momentum car because carrying speed through corners is what it does best.

    • @johnbonora4695
      @johnbonora4695 Před 7 lety +2

      Of course it can pull more G's than a 488, the tire difference is immense. When talking about the Grand Sport tires seem to be something people forget.
      The vette has bigger, stickier tires than most competitors, even bigger/stickier than super cars like the 488, its not a necessarily fair comparison.

    Both these cars are awesome and fun to drive! I have driven both and the Corvette has some feature and performance advantages (really cool features) but I have to say, when it comes to the pure driving experience, the Lotus is unquestionably more satisfying. The shear joy and sensation of the Lotus as it changes direction and carves a canyon road is sublime and cannot be measured by lap times or shown by way of comparison. I think the Corvette Grand sport is brilliant but the Lotus wins in my driving experience.

    $90k for the Evora? It's got a much bigger problem than just questionable build quality at that sort of price - and it's a little thing called the Porsche Cayman GTS which is STILL $15k cheaper. Pricing it like that is not a smart business strategy by Lotus.

      @Sunamer Z the grand sport is the lightest Vette. It's all aluminum that's why its that light. Also, the V8 is big in displacement, at 6.2 litres, but the pushrod construction means it's extremely small in physical size. Why do you think the Chevy LS/LT small block is the most swappable and swapped engine in history?? There are Mazda Miata track cars running around with these motors in them. And it doesn't even add much weight to ruin the weight distribution. It is also all aluminum, which makes it very light for a V8 of that size, of any size, for that matter. It is lighter than some modern turbo straight sixes and V6's

      @@GBux512 I disagree. That lotus wouldn't turn heads as much as the Corvette. It might be more agile and more fun to drive simply due to its size, but it doesn't look or sound as good as the Corvette. Huge car enthusiasts might be more interested in the Lotus, but to the casual car guy, female, or just regular person on the street that doesn't care about cars...they would pay more attention to the Corvette. Unless you're in a place like Florida or California, a Corvette would be a much bigger head turner almost anywhere else.
      Also, I know the British guy in the video didn't like it, but I think the red interior looks amazing without being overly done. Definitely a head turner that stands out and something people will notice right away.

Only vette that's getting any attention here is the new mid engine vette and yes that one is a beautiful car. Me personally I love both the vette and the lotus. Lotus for the super car looks and handling and simply just being so different and then the vette for straightline speed and that beautiful note it makes. Each to there own.

The only way I could see that result would be if a) the lotus couldn't actually get up to 60 or b) the corvettes brakes need to be warm since they're ceramic. Car and Driver and motor trend have both shown the corvette to stop faster than pretty much anything short of a race car.

    One obvious thing they never seem to bring up in these comparisons is exclusivity. Richard Hammond made a joke about it on Top Gear when comparing the M100 Elan to the Mazda Miata, but when you’re talking about flashy sports cars like these, it’s actually an important factor. If you have the Corvette, you’re going to be seeing other people in Corvettes like it all the time. If you own the Lotus, depending on where you live, it’s possible you could drive it for years without ever seeing another one on the road. Evora shave been sold in the US for a decade now, and I’ve seen three of them on the road in that time. One in Tampa, and two in L.A.

    Did anybody else notice how much the Lotus dives under breaking? I like the front end on the Lotus much better in terms of appeal, I think the Corvette is hideous particularly from the rear. I don't like the way they pinch the Lotus before the rear tires from the bottom, I think they should've made it more like a traditional mid engine low to the ground type sports car. I would love nothing more than to see a Corvette become, mid engine, stick shift, rear drive. Even though I think the build quality for a Corvette is poor, well American cars in general, they just somehow seem to fall apart and start rattling quickly but obviously in this case and many others you can't argue bang per dollar. One more thing Toyota or not I found the sound Lonus makes more appealing.

They are both winners in the age of dual clutches, turbo chargers and electric power steering. It's just a matter of taste. Those who'd want a mid-engined exotic sports car will buy the Lotus and those who'd want a front-engined V8 that's not as exclusive as the Lotus will get the Corvette. Frankly, no one gives a shit which is faster on a racetrack unless they're playing Grand Turismo.
    So arguing your arse over which is best is just utterly childish which reminds me of the fact that most of the people in the comments are 11-year kids anyways, so it wouldn't be worth getting mad lol

    Manuals are way more fun, my driving instructor said, to really master the craft u need to drive a stick for you to 4 or 5 years after u get your licence. I didn't unfortunately, been practicing for years before on my Dads parked lada in high school & whenever he drove he let me shift sometime pre teen. Until I decided to shift myself, without asking, loud noise, engine sound like it was falling out, one box later & "wah du you boy, you nuh hear mim she wait" see I learned about the clutch the hard way. Also got boxed leaving the company jeep in neutral on a pointed to the sea incline , handbrake down, fishing trip, another box,. Can't recall the quote able, side effect maybe. The jeep miraculously didn't end up in the ocean. I leant about handbrakes the really hard way. The side effect, aced the driving test never stalled once when learning, only a few times after a sunny & hiace summer job delivery van with a loose gearbox, the sunny had a highlight tripwire clutch, & my drunk friend whom I was, designated driving him home, was trying to kill us both & laughing, trying to pull up the handbrake @ highway speeds & saying that he is gonna kill us off, laughing about it to. Laughing at me when I stalled @the light watching him fearfully, acholol is also hell of a drug, he don't recall that & ib forgave him I guess was bestman @ his wedding. These cars are like us I guess, just a bunch of dicks on the prowl, going ape for apexes, that's what the Gees is for. The lotus had better brakes, maybe the vet has more fade resistant brakes. Oddly enough I wonder which had better fuel economy, the highly tuned supercharged v6 with a light foot, one the v8 in Eco mode running in 4cylinder mode. Maybe a normal vette packages vette without the aero is more frugal, but I think the Evorab wins that race. Hard to pick if I had to, this is a left brain right brain war. Introverted extrovert wants the evora for obvious reasons, it's more classy, handles more intimately if not capably better & its rarer, the perfect therapy tool for am winding road or a pretty woman fantasy roll play weekend getaway with the wife, or not. ;-). The bet screams track monster & geeks toy, that data recorder I'd one of the mission reasons why I'd pick the current caddilac CTS V over its euros rivals, that plus the handling & style, I'd love to see u compare that trio BMW,Benz I've four, if include the Audi. Please strike me down for my tacky punctuation skills., even if errors persist, like mind think alike, don't feel great applies to me right now. I'll end now, tho space is not an issue, principle is or was & is again, hive mind in effect ;-), so they already knew that, hence no proofread, apply the requisite mental corrections by Google docs-ing thought & brain wave. ? CCBs do not provide more braking torque, they just offer better heat fade resistance. Most race teams (minus the top tier guys like F1) run steel rotors still, as they're significantly cheaper, and stop just as well.

    With those extremely wide tires I thought the GS would do a lot better. It has wider front tires than that Lotus has as rear tires, which helps a lot in cornering and stopping, hence that 1,2 G in corners. It seems GS has more traction than handling, while the Lotus has more handling.

    Other things that must be considered: that Chevy v8 is bulletproof and people are getting close to 30mpg highway, also repairs will be exponentially cheaper. They can be daily driven with little to no issues. Lotus is gorgeous, but Corvette wins in my book.

      I find they look better in real life than they do on film. I've seen both cars up close (and driven the vette), but i was always taken aback by how much lower and flatter and wider the vette is in the flesh. In general the vette design is just better overall than in previous generations. The Evora, by contrast, is less physically-appealing than the Exige - still feeling like a 'toy car', but looking more sedan-ish. The Exige at least looked exactly like what it was = a lightweight track car.

    With modern safety standards and government regulation on engines it’s making lotus’s ethos of light weight over power an impossible goal
    Their cars will continue to get bulky and heavy like every other manufacturer
    On top of that the costs of development only increase having the largest impact on smaller manufacturers like lotus
    Chevrolet can develope a new mid engined corvette and plan on making its money back over the coming decade
    Unfortunately I dont see lotus surviving many more years

    The engine doesn't pull or push a car. It's the wheels that do the pulling or pushing based on whether it's a FWD or a RWD. The position of the engine only changes the location of the CG. That's a very stupid argument, 'the horse doesn't push a cart, it pulls it'. Anybody who has put a 24-can coke crate in the front of their Walmart cart knows how difficult it is to turn, compared to placing the crate towards the back of the cart. It's basic high school physics. Can't believe someone like Enzo Ferrari said something that stupid.

    I think the only clear winner here is neither. The one that engages the buyer more is the easy winner. Both are masterpieces. I'm a Yank and a fan of the Z06, but the Lotus is also a damn good car, and a lighter weight car is generally just more fun, though lets be honest, you wouldn't kick either out of bed for farting. DynamiteDupree I think the real difference is that American cars aren't as "fat" as they used to be. Everything is aluminum now - chassis and engine - and they've also become more weight conscious in every other area, less for performance and more to do with touting mpg numbers, maybe.
