  • I've always used Winmau Blade boards but thought I'd have a slight change.
    Here I review the Nodor Supamatch 3 and compare it to the two previous Winmau boards I had, the Blade 4 and the Blade 5 Dual Core!
    What other boards do you guys use? And which would you recommend?

    This is interesting to see as my board is about a year old and is taking a pounding. I was going to go Winmau, but if this is the same quality as the Blade 5 then I’m going to give it a go for sure. 👍🎯

    After around ten years of having a Blade (3, 4, 4DC, 5) the noise it makes made me want a change. The rota-lock system is brilliant but it does make the thing ridiculously loud. Even if you take it off it is still a very loud board so I thought I would give Unicorn one last chance. I have had their boards in the past but always went back to Winmau. I am doing a mini-experiment with them. Only got it yesterday but I am liking it so far. The Eclipse Pro 2 is definitely quieter than the Blade. This is Unicorn's last chance with me. Next will be the One80 Gladiator 3. All I hear is great things.

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  Před 4 lety

      Agree- the lock system helps the board fit firmly against the wall, but it makes hell of a racket! There are a few others i'd like to try too. The Blade's have been so good that I've had no reason to change but there must be other good ones out there!

      @@DartsClass I am with you, my Blade 4 held up better than the 5. The 5 is still a good board, but it's not as good as I expected it to be if I am being honest. The general consensus amongst people who have tried every board is the One 80 G3 is the best. I couldn't find one in stock anywhere so went with the Unicorn. I know it's not gonna last a long time but the noise is a big plus. Another excellent video mate

    Ive had the blades 4 & 5 and glad 3 and played on the eclipse a lot in league play...my opinion. I had the 4 on the wall for just shy of two yr's and its still in very good shape but I swapped because I had the opportunity to get a good deal on the glad 3. the first glad 3 i put up was great until the wire separated from the sisal while I was away on vacation (don't know how or why) the colours on the glad are far superior and the wires are smaller and dead on ....month 6 on the replacement glad and its still like new (note the glad is a harder tighter board than the blades). I have the blade five hanging in another location and I agree it doesnt seem to be as durable as the 4 but it's still a great board. The Unicorn boards that are in two of our local pubs for league play only get used for our league and all have been trash after a couple of months of moderate play. They were rock hard to begin and the wires are literally off some of them and definitely separating on others. People get swayed by the fact Unicorn is what they see on TV but it's only a contractual thing..In regards to the supamatch 3 vs. the blade 5, having been in manufacturing all my life for companies that operate under various brand names, I would suspect these two boards are made on the same machines in the same facility by the same people....a simple changeover of stenciling for the name on the board and resume production. I could be wrong but I doubt it. It's far too expensive to set up two separate facilities for the same product when it could operate out of one

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks Joe, great comment. Agreed on the Blade 4. I assumed as much with production. I like the new name on the wall and saved a couple of quid. Only played on unicorn a couple of times and they were ok, but everyone who owns one has told me they degrade very quickly compared to winmau

    Great review. Thank you! I just subbed! I have a question... I just bought a dual core Winmau Blade 5 last week mid July 2020, and returned it the next day due to an odor that was overwhelming. On the back of the Winmau was a sticker that said something about California laws and Formaldehyde. Wondering if that's what I smelled. It wasn't a smell I'm familiar with but it was bad & strong. NOW the question... Did you notice that the Nodor had an unpleasant smell when you first started using it? I want to purchase a Nodor but not if it stinks. Thanks!

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  Před 4 lety

      It stops 'Robin hoods' happening as often as the dart tends go only hit the ring and not split the first stem. I think it flies a bit more true too as it makes the dart into one solid unit. I'd definitely recommend trying it 👍🎯

    No one ever breaks down the main quality part of the dart board in detail - sisal construction.
    Only thing that really matters is the sisal durability and wiring for eliminate bounce outs. Dartboards should be compared by these 2 components.
    Blade 4 and 5 are fantastic as healing is fantastic. They will last years for the average player.
    But you are right to inquire on a similar board at a lower price.
    Consumers should not worry about price. A board is the same price as a name brand dart. $80 investment over 4 years is $20 a year. You spend that in just one local dart tournament.
    This review is valuable but more valuable for the follow ups.
    I have the Viper Razorback. Holes remain for awhile but they do close up. Over a couple thousand throws, the board still looks great and not one bounce out. I cannot complain but i have thrown on both the blade 4 & 5 and thought they were outstanding!!

    I bought some darts that came fitted with grooved points and found that they were difficult to remove from my Blade 4. Worse, they'd often pull out clumps of bristles which was especially a problem for the triples and would shorten the life of any board.
    If not an issue for your darts, is this something you've noticed when playing in your leagues?
    PS I sent the darts off to have them replaced with standard points

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  Před 3 lety

      I've never had that problem to be honest with you, or seen much of it. I've seen plenty of the opposite, where darts don't penetrate the board enough and fall out, bounce out or sit very loosely. It could be down to the board if you have a bit of a dodgy one with over compacted sisal. That being said, the blade 4 is probably the best of the blade series to date... Have you tried your darts on any other board?

    • @peterharris5387
      @peterharris5387 Před 3 lety

      @@DartsClass Latterly, I've only played darts at home for a a bit of fun. Of all the sets I've bought, these were the only ones with grooved points. I couldn't believe how much I disliked them!
      3 darts together in a bed were near impossible to remove from the board with one hand.
      If the dart was right up against a wire then it could hook and then it wouldn't pull out. It needed to be levered away from the wire then extracted.
      It slowed my throws because I couldn't get the darts out of the board as well as causing damage. I had to get them re-pointed.
      Consequently, I cannot check any more ... I would have sent them to try if I still had them.
      Anyway, not important: just something for you to look out for :-)

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  Před 3 lety +1

    • @DartsClass
      @DartsClass  Před 3 lety +1
