    Great video and advice Kurt. I think your video has come at the right time for a lot of people as the world's are coming to an end. I've helped a couple of friends choose darts for them to start out with and said the same thing. Start with Tungsten, I started with brass years ago then when I started taking it a little more 'seriously' I went with Tungsten. 👍🏼🎯

    One thing to note, in the US, most leagues are massively into the cricket game. If you are in a place where this is true, the triples from 20 down to 15 and bulls are the most important targets. For me, this is frustrating, as the darts I watch are all 501 games, but you’ve got to practice for what you’ll be playing. Cheers!

    Great tips! I am a beginner. Only really started to play once in a while back in the Spring of 2023. So almost a year now. A friend of mine in his shed got a half decent dartboard setup so I played there every once in a while, at least once a month but I found I wasn't improving much and I never had my own darts. So a month ago I went to a local spot that sells all kinds of Dart supplies and picked up a set of Graham Hall 24g mission darts. I love them. Found it made my throwing a lot more accurate and recently my wife got me a dartboard and cabinet for Christmas so I've been throwing pretty regularly. Still kinda struggling with the doubles but I'm noticing my averages are starting to slightly climb upwards. Last night I threw a 156 (T20 T20 T12) which is my highest to date. I was hyped! I realize that was mostly luck but last night I was throwing the straightest I've ever have. Its all about practice I find.

    • @MatadorDarts
      @MatadorDarts  Před 4 měsíci +3

      Definitely. Practice and confidence are the two main things, if you're confident in your technical ability then the better averages and improvement will follow. Definitely work on those doubles and your average will shoot up! Best of luck with it all!

      Practice definitely makes perfect! I've played for years intermittently but just for fun at the pub or mates house but really been taking it seriously the past few months with a minimum of 4 hours practice a day and this week alone I've hit 4 180s and rarely have a visit where I don't hit a treble. It's such a rewarding experience to see yourself improve and to think 6 months ago I'd never hit a score over 100 that wasn't a fluke. Great video and great advice mate!!

    Great advice. I completely agree about around the board on doubles - I used to do that before matches and found it made a massive difference.
    I haven't played for years, but I remember there used to be a fantastic shop in Wimbledon where you could try different darts before buying - people probably don't realise there's an incredible range of designs and weights available and you need to find what works for you. • @chrisoconnor8392
      @chrisoconnor8392 Před 2 měsíci

      @MatadorDarts I watched so far before turning off. When people give advice on a subject, I'd expect them to be at a level of talent/experience/achievement. Not some nobody trying to tell others what to do about the game, (Or any given topic) I'm order for them to have some credibility. We can all tell people how to do this that or other, but at least have a decent back ground on the subject. I play darts, for my pub team on a Monday, (when I say my pub, yes I own it), we're at a decent level but wouldn't dream of telling anyone how to play or what darts to use etc. We have blokes using brass, tungsten and steel darts, none of them would dream of advising others either, simply because none of us are of a pro lvl to be able to comment to others. Basically what in sating is don't give advice on something you're not an expert at.....you'll get laughed at. Would you take advice from a Joe blogs pool player in a pub... no, or some bloke that's telling you what's legal to do and not....no you'd get an expert like a solicitor wouldn't you.....yes. just like I'd get advice from an accomplished pro for this sport.

    • @MatadorDarts
      @MatadorDarts  Před 2 měsíci

      @chrisoconnor8392 so firstly... yes I would take advice from an average Joe down the pub who's a pool player because it's absolutely base level knowledge that I would need to know. Like how to setup the balls, what is a legal shot and what isn't etc.
      In terms of darts, no I'm not a pro BUT I have worked with multiple companies to review products, market products and even created products myself for over 3 years. I understand the physical products I and thousands of others use. My advice was if you're thinking of being serious about darts you're better buying tungsten than brass because it's an advancement 99% of players will make anyway, so skip a step. Round wire boards are made of poorer materials so buy a more expensive board for both better performance and better longevity. That comes from experience of using products.
      I also understand how to advance from a complete beginner to become a half decent amateur player. I have experienced it and therefore I can advise on it. I'm not telling someone how to become a pro am I?

    • @chrisoconnor8392
      @chrisoconnor8392 Před 2 měsíci

      @MatadorDarts why do you feel the need to try tell me what to use? Jog on. People use what they like, there's no right or wrong for anyone apart from pro's. Unless you take it that seriously and wish to become one. Otherwise use what you like. As I've said there's no chance I'd be taking advice from a nobody on any subject unless they're qualified to do so....only an idiot would.
