    Great Video; thanks for sharing your insights! You mentioned in another video, that you also sometimes experienced "plateauing" of your performance and how you overcame it. I have come to one of those plateaus right now, where there is no improvement of my game since weeks. playing between 60 and 65 and can´t evolve in hitting more trebles. It´s odd; when playing Around the Clock or JDC challenge I hit quite a lot, but when it comes to 501, it seems i am "overfocused" on the twenty. Anyway, Thanks again!

      No worries I am in a little one myself currently but mainly due to not been able to practice as much as I needed last few months. I feel it will start moving forward again with the heavy practice I am doing. The main thing that gets me through is patience and also working out what is hindering my performance. Is it straightness , up or down , doubles, counting , mindset. Whatever my weakest area is I focus on that improving first even if I have to adjust my technique 👍 all the best 💪

    Subbed - bunch of good content for what I’m trying to do which is honing my throw. I find that there are certain videos tutorials like this one that can be helpful to review periodically because you’ll pick something up you completely forgot about the first time, 2nd time even 3rd. Question… I’ve video taped myself in 1-2 segments just doing the ABC drill (aim, draw back, release and follow thru routine essentially if you’re unfamiliar, idk) and I noticed that my fingers aren’t always snapping straight down upon release, but one or two might be kinda to the right side. My grip isn’t always the same but usually close, form looks solid besides the flick sometimes I guess. Any quick advice? Sorry if that explanation sucked

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před rokem +1

      Cheers mate, grip needs to be super consistent or will be a problem and follow through the straighter the better but again May more attention to what the darts are doing and how they are grouping etc. flick is not bad but just get the feedback and see what’s Happening with them mate. All the best 🙌

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před rokem

      Thanks mate, just raise your aiming point arm body eyes so you are releasing at a higher point , this will also change your angle coming into the board slightly. Easiest way to change your angle is by adjusting your grip or changing darts (where the weight is in the barrel).
      Hope it helps mate and thanks for watching 🙌😊

    I started playing darts in 1977 and the amount of players who used to cock their little finger up like Eric Bristow was laughable. I tried it a few times and could hardly hit the board. Everyone develops their own throw and technique over time.
    I used to throw quite fast and due to the occasional miscount I decided to slow down and take my time a bit more.
    The only major change for me is the weight of darts I now prefer. Back in the 80s when I was playing for my local pub team, I threw 25g. Nowadays, I throw 32g.

      @RR10kTV  Před 2 lety +2

  • @chrishallwood7458
    @chrishallwood7458 Před 2 lety +1

    Thing with this point buried thing with the new blade 6s the boards are quite soft so no matter what the dart will bury deep, I use to hate this but now I find it easier(especially with the wide Aspinall darts I use) to bash into darts already in the treble that will catch the dart into the treble even if it may of been going higher. Why I think now that wider darts aren’t always a bad thing(thinner darts potentially easier to group but less overall surface area for other darts to contact with each other and get into the treble)

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 2 lety +1

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 10 měsíci

      I wouldn’t define my own practice as normal and it still fluctuates, it depends what level you want to be at. As a guide once played a year or so if you do couple hours a week should be able to maintain a 60+ average and if a couple hours a day more like 60-85 average. Over that will require serious fine tuning and longer tournament play back to back etc 🙌

But then it straightens out and goes into the board fairly straight. I don't think it has anything to do with my aim I think it's something to do in my release maybe to wear I'm keeping a thumb on the dart a little too long maybe

    So came to watch for speed help with my throw not sure if I thro to hard. My question are you saying that dart should be lose in board to allow for less deflections do to dart moving in board when hit by second dart. I throw with spinning flights, or points that spin or condor zero stress flights trying to limit bounce outs. Because pros do not use those set ups are they limiting the bounce outs because of lose darts in board? IF that makes since.

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes I agree with your first statement they can help with grouping if they are not to buried in , I used to spin my flights a year ago and my flight path was a lot straighter but would get more robin hoods as almost exactly the same. I watched all the pros and realised they have the upward tilt or downward (Raymond van barneveld) which I didn’t have with my previous throw so I changed it to match the pros. Meaning I threw slightly harder and the spin reduced. If you want the spin then watch Adrian Lewis at his best 😊

I notice that when I shoot 70s and 80s, it seems to flow and comes naturally. When I shoot the crappy legs, maybe I’m concentrating too much. I have def been trying to straighten my throw. I do shoot from the side of my face and wear glasses and am probably not drawing back to the same place every time. Thoughts?

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes I think this is a negative I did it a lot in the first year and I believe you have to build trust but it important to make really little changes and then measure. Just grip and darts should stay similar once you find you can hit some good scores, if you can get a good grouping then stick with it for few months unless you have a fault like, bounce outs or robin hoods.

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před rokem +2

      Lots of tall players on tour and taller than this. Try starting to set in line with the bull which for you will be downward and release at a point so goes towards treble 20, this will feel extreme but slowly raise the start point until you find a good spot for your release. The flatter your curve the less room for error basically is the principle 👍

    I've been throwing darts a while now but this year is the first year I've been taking it seriously and I'm doing okay. But one problem I have always had since I started throwing darts is every now and then I throw a dart up over the 20 outside the board. To this day I don't know why or how it happens, I don't feel like I'm gripping the dart any different or putting any more power into it but yet the odd dart flys up over the 20. Have you ever heard of this happening to anyone else or have you experienced it yourself? Thanks 👍

      Hi there , when you learn a new skill the circuit in your brain is created and when it is created whatever you are doing at the time the myelin sheath is formed a slight movement or involuntary movement like a mouth twitch (this is common in pros) can become the normal circuit. In your case it’s a random upwards over extension. It can be changed over time with practice or you could change your angle of throwing eg lean back more or less, less or more follow through etc this is what I would do and should be less over time.
      All the best 🙌

    Do you throw with the tip if the dart facing down so the frlight sits up as majority if my darts land straight if I throw with recommended tip up. Also on tv they look like they have tip down

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 5 měsíci

      All of people are different a lot of it depends on how you grip , a lot pros grip toward the front of the barrel so therefore facing down or flat but others who grip toward the back like Nathan aspinal eg is point up. The best players usually during the dart throw go from point up to point down when in the air and there is a point where the dart hangs just before it hits a treble etc. You don’t see this as much in lower level players. I personally grip at the back with point up slightly or sometimes right down but not in a wrist cocked position like MVG motion but slower.
      I would recommend you go the opposite to your grip as a baseline rear grip point up , front grip point more down overall see which you play better with 💪

    I’m not quite sure on one point. In the beginning, you mentioned to have the dart start to drop right before hitting the board. Then at about half way, you mentioned the dart rising?

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 2 lety

      It’s not easy to explain but the theory is that the dart stays on a shallow upward curve so a flatter plane. When the dart is accelerating on release point it starts to climb slightly hangs in the air and then drops in the last 3rd 🙌 hope makes sense

    • @RR10kTV

      I tried lots of different styles and the balance point of the barrel suiting my rear grip was important for the feel in my throw. Where you grip and how you group each style of dart was likely the biggest factor. I like a very tight grouping and pencil shape with the kite flights gives me this. Most similar barrels I can throw similar but I have got very used to my custom barrels now 😊

    • @RR10kTV

      It take time to build up the speed , it’s more of a shallow curve. I would not try this unless you have been playing some time I would focus on the dart being consistent and straight , not wobbling lots etc

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před rokem

      Yes and so will the velocity of the throw, the pros do it automatically because of the speed and they use less parts of the arm when throwing, there is a slow mo clip on CZcams you can see it , because of the speed it’s gaining most of the way meaning it’s easier to tell when it will start to curve . Someone not playing a long time will have a bigger curve and less consistent dip 👍

    if I try to aim low, I pull to the right.

    • @RR10kTV
      @RR10kTV  Před 2 lety +1

      That’s not a bad problem to have in my view. I would change footing or stance and play around with this as if your consistently above the target slight adjustment might drop it in. The other potential change could be larger flight or something like a pear that changes the lie of the dart. One other option if this doesn’t help is to adjust your starting point at address, this can make a big difference to release point 🙌 hope it helps 🎯
