Consistency is key,i get 26 all the time😂😂😂😂😂
But are you arm throws right line so yes then is the problem

Why you throwing then 26 all the time ??? Do you know that self so yeah why you throwing all the time 26 ?

This video literally changed my throwing game!! 1000% improvement!! You are a LEGEND! ❤️
Nice video, it helped a lot! Tho I feel nervous with you having the TV just bellow the bullseye. If that was my room I would no longer have a TV
If I ever hit the tv then I have bigger issues to address LOL
It just means you can trust what he says 😂
If you hit the tv you should put down the darts and never play again 😂😂
If you're good the t.v doesn't matter
@@IronmanDarts oh come on the darts had to have hit the tv before. Not saying you’re missing the entire board, the darts bounce off the board sometimes especially when they strike the metal. Hell, my darts bounce off at least once every single time I play!
Great video. I'm 51 and just taken up darts 8 months ago. I've now joined a team and had my first match last Tuesday. It was double start double finish 301 best of 3. I lost but it was a great experience. We also had 2 doubles matches which again we lost but was good fun. We had a pint and some sandwiches and a laugh. I've just subscribed and look forward to learning with you
Welcome, Pete!
How's it going a year later Pete?
How you doing now? I played with double in double out 301 with some 50 year old guys who've been playing darts their whole life, and I got waxed in like 17 of 18 games... but one game I had the opportunity to double bull out and I nailed it, and that felt really good. Hope you're still sticking with it =) The biggest thing is practice practice practice.
Brilliant video, I suffer from tension due to trying too hard. It's very difficult to change that mindset, so what you said about relaxing is absolutely spot on. Learned a lot about the technique of throwing from this video so thank you so much. 👏👌
I started playing Darts 3 weeks ago to relieve stress and work on concentration. This video is by far the best video I have watched....by far...thank you..
Great to hear!
I had this problem with my stance and just a small adjustment made all the difference! Thanks for the great tips.
Glad I could help.
Great video. Thank you for sharing even as an avid dart player for over a decade this video helped me reset my game and get rid of my dartitis.
It’s amazing the amount of work you put into these videos just to provide information to people like me. It is a lot of fun watching your progression, and sharing your knowledge. Know that what you do is very much appreciated and very entertaining. Thank you for all you do Dave! Have a very Merry Christmas!! PS. Tip #5 is on point and the most important part of any sport!! Very glad you shared and believe that!
PS. I would love to get your thoughts and your experience with getting into a dart league. What your league is like, what boards do they play on, what games they play, how you got involved, how often you play, etc…. Do you have to be at a particular skill level to get into a league or is it for all skill levels? I’m new to darts, and your videos have guided me so far, so I figured I would ask your thoughts as I would love to get into a league, but nervous about the mechanics of it. Thanks!
Thank you!!
I've talked about his off and on in previous videos... I played for maybe a year when I was 12 or 13 years old. I then started up again (not sure why; looking for a new hobby) in 2017 at home with a steel tip board. In December of 2017 I showed up at a Soft Tip Blind Draw event. I've been playing in the Titan Darts league ever since (check out their website). It's open to all skill levels. I play in a Doubles league once a week. Me and my partner play 19 games either in person or remotely at a local bar. We play 10 games of 701 and 9 games of Cricket. It's been a great learning experience for me both mentally and for the competition aspect of it. I've come a long way with my game. If you want any throwing advice, send me a video for analysis and I'll make a video for you and share it here on CZcams.
@@IronmanDarts thank you so much for the information! I may take you up on that video review soon! Keep up the great videos!!
Excellent job showing about the stance. The way you hop up and down shows how to find your stance better than any video I've ever seen and I seen ALOT 😆
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video! This seems so simple, I don’t know why I had to look up a video to learn most of this. Love the info, awesome energy. 👍👍
There isn't many dart coaches they have figured out a formula and a language that works reminds me of the videos I watched as a kid from a legendary baseball hitting coach.
Great video! I need to work on being more stable and consistent with my throws. Average around a 2.6 in Cricket on my Granboard. Subscribed!
Very clear and concise explanation and demonstration of the key elements of dart throwing. Very well done, thank you for your help!!

Hey Dave ive been playing darts for a bit and built a bar in my garage around my dard board. Am ordering the granboard 3s in a few days and was just watching reviews and found your channel. Your doing a great job and hope to play a game of cricket with you someday. Im from Washington state.

You’ve been doing a great job with your videos. I’m enjoying your channel, keep up the great work.

Hello Iron Man! I just want to make it a point to say thank you because I've been following your basic foundation techniques for throwing darts and there was a huge improvement. I plan on watching a lot more so I can get even better. With no exaggeration my game has improved so much just after watching a couple of your fundamental foundation Technic videos. Keep them coming!
Great to hear! My videos aren’t necessarily for elite players (which some people think). I’m on a journey just like you and if I can help speed up your development, then it’s all worth it. I’m glad you found value with my content.
Very nice video. I have board from 1 week now.
This is what I needed to hear and assured me that I'm on the right way. Not everything is perfect, but you have to take it slow and use the possibilities. Getting mad or sloppy won't make it better. Be strong. Greetings from Bulgaria.
Thank you and welcome from Bulgaria!!!!
The thing that has really helped me recently is focusing on the dart as soon as i take it out of the off-hand, bringing it across up and back and then forward to the release. This has really helped me find a better rhythm.
Nice!

So crazy to think that it takes around 10 seconds to complete three throws of Darts but there are so many things I can go wrong in that 10 seconds if you’re not focused.
Just came across your channel, getting back to playing hopefully soon:) Thanks so much for your incredible teachings!

Excellent video Dave, well done!! Very insightful. I've just made the Zimbabwe darts team to compete in the Regional Champs in Namibia next week. I lack consistency, I will hit 180, then 41!!! Long winter's = less golf outdoors.
Darts is so similar in nature to golf. Regarding the consistency and mindset importance.
Great stuff brother. Ty.

Best darts video & channel on CZcams. Thank you for all the help sir!
Wow, thanks!
Attitude really is everything. I remember when friends and I were playing in the bar and one would open up Cricket with White horse 20, 18, 19. After the obligatory knuckles I stepped up, took a breath, found my center, and said, "Here we go." Got a White horse 20, 18, 19. It was the first time I had ever done that and I was soooo stoked for the rest of game.
We were then both at zero points and had exact same marks remaining to hit, and no way to point on those three. Basically I made it a 15 to 17 and bulls game. 😅
So just because your opponent opened with a white horse doesn't necessarily mean he has an insurmountable lead. Relax, it's now your turn to zero out all his hard work. 😎
Well said.
The mental part of playing is so so important. I'm so happy you covered that. Very well said. 🙌
Thank you.
Love your videos !! You’re really good! And i hope to be as good one day! Have been binge watching your videos these days haha! You deserve so much more followers !

Watching this video made me realise that my elbow was going outside everytime I throw. Adjusting this made my darting so much better and only one hour after watching this video and adjusting I was able to throw my first 180 ever! Thank you for the advise!

Darts is really difficult, especially mentally. It’s a hard game to master but I still love it 🎯
Most enlightening. Thank you for the great advice.
Glad it was helpful!
Have to say I've seen a lot of videos about how to throw. Been playing for over 20 years and this is one that I can really relate to. Everything is pretty much how I throw. It's natural and comfortable. And if anyone wants to know how to grip a dart, pick up your dart as if it's a pen. You have full control and stability with it. And another tip if you're playing double in double out, go for the side of the board for starting. If you're too high or too low you've got a very good chance of landing in a double. 14's especially.
Great to hear!
Nice vid. Fixing it is harder than it seems. Elbow goes out. Snatch sneaks in. Also darts tumble. Assuming a release issue. That's been with me forever. Thanks Dave
Keep at it JD... it'll come!
Try lowering your elbow very slightly...
Great video and instructions! I needed to hear these tips. Thanks Dave
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. From your tips, I see what my problem is. I had given it up bc I was mostly hitting the wall, or they would not make it to the board. I also have an issue with aim. But after watching this video, I’m going to try to give it another shot and practice more on my own. Thanks for the great info!
You’re welcome
Have you ever tried wearing glasses 🤓 🤷🏻
Maybe darts just isn’t your game
I have the same problem. In all honesty, my wife threatened to leave me because the darts kept hitting our dog’s ass.

How long have you been playing?
@@IronmanDarts kinda like you. Played a little bit in my early 20's and then didn't play for 15 yrs or so. Just started back hard core about 4 months ago. Play about 3 times a week now. Started as a 1.5 and now I'm a 2.2.

No problem!
I've been playing for 17 months and have taken my 3 dart average from around 30 to around 60. It's such a great game and looking forward to putting these tips into action.
Good job.
I just started, the first few days I didn't watch any video's, my average was at least 50 (from time to time even 140, which I was pretty surprised about).
Now I try to follow all the tips in the video's, but my accuracy/precision is worse. The most important is probably to do something between all the tips and how you feel the most comfortable (and develop your own style)?
@@denjo3131 you've averaged 140 (501) sets? That's insane if you've only played for a few days, you'll be the next Phil Taylor!
@@denjo3131Yeah, gunna call bs on your 501 average.
Great video man!! Also you are brave to hang that flat screen there lol
Very!
Okay, so the dude was speaking French the whole time - somewhat easy to understand - but then he brings in a metaphor from CRICKET as if that's supposed to help matters, and suddenly he's speaking Greek!
I jest. Good video. I'd love to play sometime, but for now I just bet on those who do. The amount of psychology involved in this game is CRAZY.
Beat you last night 2 out 5 games!! Fun and excited beating the very guy you learned to throw from!
Congratulations
A lot of these tips are the same kind of things I try to tell my teammates when they struggle, or if it's a new guy just starting out. I just wish there was a way I could articulate #5 to them in the moment when they absolutely don't want to hear it 🤣 maybe I should send them this link and call it a day, lol
Thanks for sharing!
Just got a dartboard and started throwing for the first time since college. In your video I see someone had an issue with constantly throwing to the left or right. I have been doing a lot of trapshooting in the time between college, and eye dominance is a big factor in trapshooting. I’m just thinking that maybe eye dominance might play a role in darts also. Look up some videos on eye dominance in trapshooting and maybe it correlates to darts.
Yes eye dominance and throwing off of that eye is probably imo the most important component of consistent darts. Watch Phil Taylor, arguably the best dart player to ever pick a dart up. He is right handed left eye dominant which is rare. He always throws off that left eye.
I was wondering about the Ironman in your channel name... then I saw the shirt. I did Olys and a handful of 70.3s but never a full. I clicked subscribe when I saw the shirt. Greatvstuff and congrats. Cheers!!!
Thank you.. still training and will attempt IMAZ in November 🤙
We call that “stacking” when you line up the body like that. In snowboarding it makes certain maneuvers much easier. Good video.
Thanks 👍
I grow from amateur to pdc with your advice. Tq sir..
Keep it up
when you have a tv just below dart board, yo don't need to argue further...
Thanks a million Dave…great video 👍🙂
Of course!
Number 5 is the most important thing about darts, glad to see you point that out, practice makes perfect is the biggest lie of any sport, mind set is a must
Yes!!
The 5th point was the most important part for me.
Thank you for an interesting and helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!
Real help and good takeaway for how the real deal shoot! Honestly thought one think that sits real with me and took a couple years of leagues to realize and I've tried through the years to explain to not only myself but teammates is we all may get caught up in the pressure to hit that one shot but sometimes we swack the first two shots.. take a breath you have one more shot and that can be the make or break of the game... never throw the last out of spite cause almost always doesn't pan out
Great pointers
attitude i was having fun on a game earlier
had to get 20pts to end it. threw a miss, a triple 2 and a double 7 for the win
Good advice on the stance! Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!

You bet!
Another great video, thanks. I"ll likely take you up on the form analysis at some point. By the way, is that a sauna? (or wine cellar.)
Please do and it’s an infrared sauna.
Very helpful video. Thank you
The most useful tip I gained from you in this clip was the centre line,
I've marked out my foot spot on the floor, ofcourse it's cheating but useful. I have the toe line , the heel line the centre of board line which lines up with my leg.
Before I was always darting to a wrong side
Glad you were able to get something helpful from this. Thank you.
Thank you for the advice bro
Thank you for watching!
All this can be transferred to archery as well. Finding a stance and balance, having a still body, lining everything up, the shot and follow through, and keeping a positive attitude whether you’re in a tournament or just practicing. All are important for consist groups/accuracy
Great tips btw!
I have a compound bow, so yes, it all relates.
Awesome video, really Iove the attitude part
Glad you enjoyed it
i started playing in Feb 2023, and my best games is when I'm slightly stoned. it relaxes me lol
Man is the epitome of dart throwing
Thnx for the good advice!
Great video....positive mind always
Yep!!!
Hello from the UK...Great video as per usual..just one thing .I have to respectfully disagree with were you say. with the flared elbow you can not be consistent..gary anderson's elbow flares right out and he's one of the most consistent players in the world..and one of the biggest 180 hitters out there. What we should be lining up is the bicep and the hand will follow...if you stand there in your throwing position with your elbow flared and throw a imaginary dart slowly at the end of your follow through your hand will be in line with your bicep..the only time we really need to worry about the elbow is if it drops...but other that another great video
Thank you for watching from the UK!
Hi! So I'm just starting out on darts. I first started a few years back just for fun, and have just recently really started to work on improving. It's still just for fun, nothing professional or anything, but I've found your tips incredibly helpful! Especially the still body and finding the rhythm really made a difference. I do have a question about the follow-through. Every time I would extend my arm, it feels like I'm putting quite a bit of pressure on my elbow joint, which after a while would start to hurt. I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong in a way that hurts my elbow or if it's normal and I should just rest more.😅
Sounds like your trying too hard?!
@@IronmanDarts Lmao understood😅Thanks!
Great video! Very helpful tips!
Glad it was helpful!
As much as I think about these things (especially follow-through), I feel like I’ve just hit a consistency plateau. I’m a ~3.2 shooter and have been for the past 2 years and it just feels like to get to that next level it’s going to take a lot. My issue is I’ll throw a 3.6 in league one night then the next week feel like I’m doing the same thing and the “feel” isn’t there so I try to mess around with grip placement/hand distance/wrist action until something clicks. Either way I’ll just keep practicing.
I have a video coming up next week that will probably help.
At 3:20 your lining up to 20, bull and 3. How do you adjust from throwing top then to bottom of board, or left and right? Do you move and re-center? Or adjust angle of arm when throwing?
Sometimes it can be as simple as a raising of the head a slightly forward, you’ll need to experiment to find what works best for you.
Great teaching. I am going to get a board. Thanks
Please do!
Nice tutorial! Big Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I’m second to last in my league bracket because of my inconsistency, so I’m excited to work on these tips more! I got Z darts because I never hold the darts in the same spot otherwise, which has definitely assisted me A LOT, but now I need to tune my actual throw. My stance is pretty close to yours, though I never line myself up correctly lol. I’ll be sure to update this comment after practicing on my granboard tonight or tomorrow! Thank you 🙏🏻
Sounds good. Good luck to you.
Update?
@@zacbroxson1223 oops thought I did 🤣🤣 on my current league my x01 place was second to last, but within two games I rose up two places! For cricket I rose one place, but my granboard stats are definitely on the rise at a more rapid pace than my league stats are 😁 no one would ever request me on there, but lately I’ve been getting games with higher stats players and either come close to winning, or we end up rounding out (actually rounded out tied 260-260 and I had two less marks than he did at one point). Not pulling my eyes off the board when I grab another dart has helped me the most out of all of it, because it helped my confidence in hitting the number again. I warm up now by throwing a dart randomly, then I aim in the same spot to help reduce strays and maintain consistency without ever taking my eyes off the first dart. Then I’ll start going for specific numbers I think I can’t hit and end up getting at minimum 3 singles on it in one warm up round. I do still need to work on keeping my arm straight and not tilt it to the left (I’m left handed lol), but bulls and trip 20s are starting to become my comfort zone. My arm is staying A LOT straighter than it used to be, so it’s exciting the more I hit what I’m aiming for nearly every time 🥳
omg your trick is awsome now i am a pro at this
My trick?
I find the problem often with my inaccuracy is the fingering... the holding of the darts and nobody seems to mention this. I can feel often that the dart goes wayward because i haven't held the dart exactly consistently and because the darts are narrow cylinder how can you hold them each one exactly identically every time?
Brilliant video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks mate, super helpful viddy
Glad it helped
Good video. What's your preference on Weigh on the grad board 3s or soft tip board?
It’s such a personal choice. I’ve only really had one set of darts since I started 4 years ago.
@@IronmanDarts thank u
Man, that's good coaching.
I appreciate that!
Thanks for your video! I was curious I had a question, what if you have good form and have a good follow through but your darts are not hitting your intended target. What else would you suggest?
Maybe you’re not throwing with the same force or effort each time? Also I’d have to see you throw to see what you define as ‘good’.
@@IronmanDarts Thanks for your reply and the throwing tips! I’ll have to evaluate my throw and follow your tips, thanks again!
The 90 degree arm thing is something I could never even come close to doing. I can’t even hit the board when I tried that and I tried many many times. I can’t see how that would even be even possible. I use an American dart board with wooden darts so my board is a little lower and I stand a bit closer. So I am the most inconsistent dart player ever lol. It’s all about my mood. If I’m feeling relaxed and just feeling good (alcohol always makes me way better) I’m a great dart player. If I’m not relaxed and or just feeling like crap or in a bad mood or whatever I am god awful! Some nights I will shoot in the 20s (6 innings, baseball) all night long and when I’m off I am horrible! I won’t even make double digit points!!! Your advice about the stance helped me but I just don’t understand how I could keep my arm at a 90 degree angle! I mean my hand would above my head like that!
I hear your concerns but it is possible. Can you work with someone locally to better your form?
thanks really helpful. how do you adjust body or arm when you aim left or right of the centre line ? ie 11 or 16
I make a slight shift left or right and throw the same…. It’s an alignment adjustment.
