I have had the blade 4 and blade 5. Plus I have had a unicorn eclipse HD. And to say I will never buy another unicorn board is a understatement. I like my winmau boards. They last a lot longer. I don’t leave them up for 2 years. I buy a new board every year. I have played up to 5 hours a day on my blade boards and they do take a pounding. I am also a firm believer of a duller dart point.
Great video, I have been using the same board for 1,5 years now, and I absolutely agree with you, it's just brilliant, it doesn't even show any signs of being worn out. When it comes to dartboards, Winmau all the way.
im partial to the alien/bandit boards, but i have a blade 4 on my wall thats ~8 months old and from the oche it still looks new, besides having the winmau logo under the 12
I have a blade 4 that's 5 years old. I play on atleast 1 hour a day. It still looks great. Because I use gold smooth points which don t pull the board apart. Smooth gold is the best in my opinion. My darts team cant believe how good my board still looks.
My blade 5 is like that after 6 months! I rotate the board all the time and I look after it well. I'm very experienced with dart equipment and I know it's been treated well. What the hell winmau !
Wow, they are expensive. But probably well worth it. I can only find the Gladiator 2 on Amazon.... www.amazon.com/ONE80-GLADIATOR-STEEL-TIP-DARTBOARD/dp/B017RE6GG8/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1498420610&sr=1-2&keywords=Gladiator+dartboard
What if you want to wear your dartboard out what wears it out quick. I know it is a dump question but I have a shit dartboard now and I only can buy a new one if it is a bit beaten up
I don't like rotating it cause then the graphics dont line up plus it's a hassle taking the rubber surround off plus the number ring has to come off too and be repositioned then remounting it in the rubber surround takes a bit of stretching to get it in there. Plus I'm OCD about having the surround graphics sitting perfectly horizontal so I just do it once a month. Even once a month is kind of annoying for me lel. It's a good board though. The wire/spider gets a bit dinged up as you can see in the video, probably increases bounceouts over time cause the blade edge is not 90 degrees anymore. Would recommend.
Good tips guy makes sense I go threw a dart board every two months .I'm going to try and get those tips just a little worried about how they feel I lean one of my fingers on the tip like James wade does but hey would save me a hundred or so pounds a year ..cheers mate
Worldwide Darts yeah but to be honest I usually beat up the treble twenty over three days or so then rotate but I'm going to rotate everyday now sometimes I play 3 to 5 hours a day so yeah ill rotate more often
Nice video appreciate it! Came at the right time... Was between byuing the Blade 4 and Target Pro tour board. Would u tell me what sort of darts and stems you're using at 4:35 please ? Thanks a lot !
+P Bryce Somedays it was none and other days it could've been 3 hours or more. I do know that in a 12 month span I played more games on Webcam Darts than anyone else except for one person.
Yes, Nodor owns Winmau and Red Dragon so they're all the same company located on the same city corner. The boards are just relabeled. Nodor also happens to make some of the Designa darts and darts for many other store brands and companies. All super high quality as you would expect.
At 4:37 these stems and flights are interesting looking. Never seen flights like that. What kind of flights are they? Do they last longer than traditional flights? I've been using Harrows Gold flights for the last 6 months and I change them twice a month after playing a half hour a day
+BishTV Those are Cosmo superkites. Pretty much the smallest flights you can buy. Those things last me months but I use a Target Storm point with my steel tips or recently a Target titanium point and they don't damage flights at all.
+Worldwide Darts I trim my standard flights down a touch...tend to last a lot longer. I noticed your Storm conversion points....just wondering what the darts are named that take those.
its good you care so much..nothing wrong with that..but i would say..just use the board after a year or 2 get a new one if small imperfections are an issue. Heck I just replaced one ive had since 1990 and it was beat to s^&* lol..Even took all the metal off of it cause it was just bent and messy..Just put up a new board. Its nothing fancy..no name as far as i can see..bought it with a cabinet brand new for 34$ today..Darts stick..thats all i care about..:D
I recently bought a Unicorn Dart Mate so I could play darts inside. It is the best setup I could achieve where I currently live. However the Unicorn Eclipse Pro board that came bundled with the setup seems a lot tougher than the Winmau? The Winmau appears to be very soft. I think I will buy a Winmau board when the time comes to replace. My current darts have very sharp points too . . yikes :S This video has sure given me some food for thought. Thank you for the review and advice ;)
+LoveRaw I'm not 100% sure why but I always have good luck with dart boards. They all last me a really long time. I owned a Unicorn Eclipse Pro a couple years back and to be honest, it was a great board. But again, I use darts that are on the lighter side and I always use dull/rounded type points. I'm also a fanatic about rotating my board very, very frequently. That's super important to the life span of a board. The Winmau Blade 4 I just received a couple days ago is incredible in every way. My darts make a nice "thunk" noise when it hits the board. My girlfriend even commented that it's much quieter now. My points sink in just the perfect amount and hold well in the board. It's just a great board. And I'm not one to endorse a product at all. Something has to be REALLY good for me to mention it. You'll see some sponsored players promote a shop just to promote it... like this... czcams.com/video/z-YM2_NwwDU/video.html Well screw that. My job here on CZcams is to help dart players find the best deals possible and stop them from wasting money on expensive shops or junk products. All that being said, Winmau Blade 4's are an awesome board. I feel 100% confident recommending them to anyone. Just make sure you shop around for the best deals though :) Last i checked they were on sale at Amazon with free shipping. But again... shop around
Worldwide Darts Thank you. I really enjoy your videos, they are excellent. I really like the look of the Winmau Blade 4. I am going to experiment with some different points too ;)
I got my dualcore blade 4 board a exactly a year now. Play every day 1+ hour. And since a month its really (really) done. The sisal is dry, darts don't got in properly and because of that the darts fall out on the ground. I always rotated the board but never made it wet. See people do that. But don't think its a good thing? I don't really know what happend that it get so dry suddenly. How do you take care of your board?
+Ins4neinthemembran3 I probably over rotate mine. If I'm playing a lot I'll rotate 3 times per week or every other day. What sort of climate do you live in? Sometimes that's the biggest factor in longevity of a board.
+Worldwide Darts I life in the Netherlands. So you never know what you gonna get ;P. Sun, rain, winter. But to be honest i never rotated 3 times a week. Probably once a month. Gonna buy a new blade 4 dual-core and keep that in mind. Because i don't think I van revive a dartboard? Cheers mate
Ins4neinthemembran3 Yeah, under rotation is really bad. If you're constantly rotating your board it gives time for the bristle's to heal themselves. If you wait until the segment is thrashed then rotate, it will never heal. The sisal gets spread out and dries up. Next board you get make sure you rotate the heck out of it.
+Ins4neinthemembran3 If you have a humidity meter, what number does it read where the board is mounted? Leave the meter there for 24 hours before reading it.
I would argue that a sharp point would be better than a dull one. Jam a flat head screwdriver in it and see what happens, now jam a needle. This is hypothetical of course. My point, no pun, is a blunt tip would crush the fibers, where as a sharper tip would go in between the fibers not slice them. That being said, mine are not really sharp but not blunt as well.
An important part that you didn't mention is what a sharp point does to the spider. You'll get way more bounce outs with a sharp point as they tend to dig into the spider. After several months the spider will be all chewed up with sharp points. I've always used a Target Storm point which is a bit blunt and with very frequent rotations my boards seem to hold up a lot better than most of the pictures I see online of other peoples boards.
I've been playing for more than four years on the eclipse pro approximately 2 to 3 hours each day and still not need replacing. The HD2 is rubbish, I have an evening in a pub trained and dart board could be replaced by a new one.
Fran Hećimović Nope. It's actually more gentle on the board. The plastic tips don't chew the spider up at all. I played with plastic points on my new Winmau board for a few months and it looked virtually new.
I've been playing darts a LONG time and have never sharpened my darts. You want a point that is free of burrs but not overly sharp. If it's too sharp the point will dig into the wires and chew up the sisal. Not good.
Honestly the best board I've ever owned. Looking back on old videos I find it hard to believe that this board is 2 years old!!! With frequent rotation and the use of dullish type points you can't get many, many months of use from a Winmau dartboard.
Worldwide Darts Cool! Great that Darts isn't just in Britain. I'm 13 and from NZ, luckily one80dart have been sending me some Dart supplies for free! Have you met many other players?
+Luke Dawson The biggest factor other than the dart points is rotation. If you play often you should be rotating the board almost daily or every other day to get the longest life possible.
+Worldwide Darts Yeah I know that, it also depends on where the board is located and how much the temperature in the room changes as you said sisal is a natural fibre. Unfortunately my board is in a cabinet above a radiator and that doesn't help.
instead of rotating the board ... rotate the numbers you throw for ... 20 - 15, 14 - 9, 8 - 3, 1 - 6, 7 - 12, 13 - 19 ... and other random combinations ... use dies no. 1 - 20 and pick from a jar or throw dice, shuffle cards, whatever
thats pretty shocking quality imo. Ive never bought into the blade hype, ive had them all apart from the blade 5 and they all look like carpets after a short time. Ive got a Gladiator G2 thats 3 years old and looks miles better than this.
The blade 4 I have will last longer than the wall it is attached to lol
I have had my winmau blade 4 for 2 years now and it still looks good. This summer I will buy a new one and give my old away. Still very playable.
+UniqueThaPoet That's good to hear. If a player takes care of their board and rotates it often, it will certainly last.
I've been throwing up all night. I've got a dartboard on my ceiling
I have had the blade 4 and blade 5. Plus I have had a unicorn eclipse HD. And to say I will never buy another unicorn board is a understatement. I like my winmau boards. They last a lot longer. im partial to the alien/bandit boards, but i have a blade 4 on my wall thats ~8 months old and from the oche it still looks new, besides having the winmau logo under the 12
I have a Blade 5 and rotate it around once a week while playing an hour a day. Still looks almost brand new.
how long ?
I have a blade 4 that's 5 years old. I play on atleast 1 hour a day. It still looks great. Because I use gold smooth points which don t pull the board apart. Smooth gold is the best in my opinion. My darts team cant believe how good my board still looks.

What would you get then?
707SonomaComa Gladiator 3
Wow, they are expensive. But probably well worth it.

Every 2 months? I've played a lot in the past and don't even come close to thrashing a board that quick. Are you rotating it a lot?
Worldwide Darts yeah but to be honest I usually beat up the treble twenty over three days or so then rotate but I'm going to rotate everyday now sometimes I play 3 to 5 hours a day so yeah ill rotate more often
Worldwide Darts and are those titanium points screw in
Nice video appreciate it! Came at the right time... Was between byuing the Blade 4 and Target Pro tour board.
Would u tell me what sort of darts and stems you're using at 4:35 please ?
Thanks a lot !
They're a #3 locked Cosmo carbon stem with Superkite flights. Expensive but one set has last me over a year.
Great follow up. Just curious, how much play is this daily for two years?
+P Bryce Somedays it was none and other days it could've been 3 hours or more. I do know that in a 12 month span I played more games on Webcam Darts than anyone else except for one person.

My "less expensive" board looked worse than that after 3 months.
Love the blade 4.

Do they use this board model also in official tournaments? If not why?
+MultiJejje The BDO has used this board for quite some time. Although recently they have started using the Blade 4 Dual Core.
I would argue that a sharp point would be better than a dull one. Jam a flat head screwdriver in it and see what happens, now jam a needle. This is hypothetical of course. Worldwide Darts I hear ya but we’re talking about the sisal. To be fair, I’m not bashing your assessment, I was just giving my opinionated logic.
That's the one I have
What should i choose winmau blade 4 dual core or unicorn eclipse pro hd?
I want less bouncers
A long duration
And a soft board
+thijs_v_a Winmau Blade 4 Dual Core
I've been playing for more than four years on the eclipse pro approximately 2 to 3 hours each day and still not need replacing.
The HD2 is rubbish, I have an evening in a pub trained and dart board could be replaced by a new one.
Winmau blade or One80 Gladiator 3?
I've have a new blade 5 that doesn't accept bullseyes 😣🤔
Why should I rotate my dartboard? 🤔
To make your board last 3x longer and nicer
what does rotating the board mean?
Marco Kreutner its because you still hitting 20 so over time this place will be damaged
On roughened steel tips make the dartboard broken.
I can hear the crickets chirping.
I don't rotate... I also don't hit the 20 :(
Can i throw Darts with plastic tips on a Dartboard like this?
Yes
Worldwide Darts thanks a lot
GLPaluten Check out this video. I was using soft tip darts when I got my record czcams.com/video/uYom82-kzzw/video.html
Doesn't it do more damage to the board than a steel tip?
Fran Hećimović Nope. It's actually more gentle on the board. The plastic tips don't chew the spider up at all. I played with plastic points on my new Winmau board for a few months and it looked virtually new.
upload a video on how to rotate
King Kat wtf
Gazzer rotate the board
King Kat you are dum
What's the benefit of sharpening darts...thx

You should meet Darin Young lol
+DartFanatic 180 I think he's 9 miles away from right now at the Sunday River tourney. If so I'll be doing a video on his dart setup tomorrow :)
Worldwide Darts Cool! Great that Darts isn't just in Britain. I'm 13 and from NZ, luckily one80dart have been sending me some Dart supplies for free!
Have you met many other players?
I thought 9 months was good, but my board is a lot worse than yours. Just goes to show if you take care of it, it'll take care of you, so to speak
+Luke Dawson The biggest factor other than the dart points is rotation. If you play often you should be rotating the board almost daily or every other day to get the longest life possible.

I play mostly 501. Rotating it every 3 days is the only way to go
my balde 4 board is worse.. in 4-5 months time
i have a 30 year old board that is in better shape
I have a 50 year old board in better shape too. (But I re paint it, shhhhhh!)
thats pretty shocking quality imo. Ive never bought into the blade hype, ive had them all apart from the blade 5 and they all look like carpets after a short time. Ive got a Gladiator G2 thats 3 years old and looks miles better than this.
I can't say enough great things about the Gladiator boards. Best boards I've ever used
