Ok if I don't mention this I will feel bad. If you fast forward to 12:00 and let the video play from 12:00 to 12:20 when he pulls the darts out at high speed it sounds like a bird in flight. Now if we were to hear a bird in flight it would have the same noise, surely exactly the same. Now it got me thinking birds have wings and humans have arms but with enough velocity guys check this out human arms if we could fast forward our arms without video footage and flap them as fast as birds in skies man I think we can fly ya know that....Lol... Listen to bird-man on this video the most fluent flight sound you've heard in your life, just a pity hes flying while standing on the spot.

You prefer the Winmau Blade 5 or the Unicorn Eclipse HD 2? not sure which too buy, the price doesnt matter, i just want the better board but never played on one of those dartboards

At a little more than 2 years on, I'm still very happy with my B4DC.
B4DC lasted quite well for me too
Lovely review. Looking at getting new match/practice boards for my local team and I use the B4 religiously both at home and for our matches. Love the new wiring on this. Thanks for a nice insightful review (especially from someone from the 'right' end of the country). lol.

Thanks David! The speed up part is just in the editing software where I run at faster speed. You get an option to alter the speed, I think I did it with Filmora but I think such options are in all video editing software.
Thanks for the review. I just bought a Blade 4. Yet to use it. Constructing a DIY backboard first. One thing i can say is my Bull is not as skewif as yours!
Also the cracks in the sisal are more obvious on mine, but maybe they used bigger sisal 'biscuits' in yours? ie used fewer sisal segments in the 5. Maybe that would make it less tightly packed and not as good as far as 'healing' goes?

Bull's Advantage 5.01 is a great board.Having been a Winmau fan for along time it was time for a change,its a work of art,spider is super flush,super thin and its white. it makes you focus so much more.
The way the number ring attaches is very nice too.

I will have to get one, I did have a Bulls Advantage 2 years ago and it looked amazing when it was new, but it was really hard, lost a few 180's because of its hardness, it lasted well except for the spider which bent and broke in a few places, hopefully the 5.01 has improved on some of those issues then :)
great review mate, I'm looking forward to getting one of these after being very disappointed in the HD2 and the advantage 5.01. for me winmau have always made the most durable board

Darts Review Channel not the best spider , hard board which is fine if you rough your points up regularly and it does not heal no matter how much you rotate it.

I just heard about the WB5 board a few days ago and have been hoping that you would do a review soon, however, I must now both thank you and curse you. I thank you for the fine review. I curse you because my WB4 and WB4 dual core boards are hardly broken in and now I know that I must have the WB5. I just hope that the WB5 will show up in the American market soon.
Lol, there is no rush, but maybe the bigger segments might give you a little better average :)

Cheers! I think when you have the rota lok wheels in they kind of make a noise against the wall but the board itself is about the same level as the pro 2

I think my top 3 boards are B4DC B5DC and Gladiator 3. But for some the Dual Cores can be a little too soft so if you prefer a slightly firmer board then the G3 is worth a look :) Cheers! :)
Any update to the durability of the Blade 5? How is it holding up? Haven't seen a video update yet was just curious... alot of people still saying Blade 4 is alot better when it comes to longer lasting, and that the blade 5 is not very good (however they could be referring to just the regular B5 and not the Dual Core B5.... can you update us on how yours is? thanks
Not really had enough time on it as yet, got a few boards on the go so cant really do them justice all at once, but I think may be the B4DC has fared better overall in wear at this point.
whats the difference between the blade 5 and the blade 5 dual core any idea? £10 difference in price @ argos im wondering which to buy? thnx
The Dual Core has a softer top layer and a denser under layer, other than that not a lot else.

i have a friend were i played dart with that kind of board, it becomes harder overtime as he mounted outdoor... what we did was to put oil just the surface, and it brings back or gets better-dart penetration
Interesting, I don't think they are meant to be kept outdoors but I think it affects the glue on the sisal and normally I would say don't put any liquids on the board so curious that its helped in your case :)
whats the difference between the blade4 dc and the 5? it seems to me the way its going the doubles and trebles are getting bigger and bigger. great review with plenty of information. regards
Spider is the main difference, it seems like its a goal to get the spider as thin as possible, is that good or bad? I think that debate will rage on for a long time :)

Out of curiosity i want to ask whether if B5 dual core worth the extra money in contrast with the simple B5..95 euros the first one and 75 the simple one here in Greece! Differences and personal opinion on the money issue :P
I think its not as worth the extra now as it was with the Blade 4 Vs the B4DC because the B5 now comes with the rota lock wheels too and I think possibly the B5DC is a little softer which may not be good for some players.

Is caused by the black coating on the steel tip from the heavier dart.
yeah I know but I think the extra weight of the 28g had the dart penetrating more which made it even harder to pull out :)
very firm looking not a noisy as b4 am getting loads of bounce out from b4 so hope this b the answer can't wait to get it cheers Darren good vid a usual :-D

I do plan to get one eventually but not sure when, already got a few boards on the go so I dont essentially need a new board but I want to get one to try anyway :)

Do you think that the Blade5 DC is produced as a "reaction" to the two new Unicorn boards?
To be quite honest: a number ring similar to the Eclipse HD would have been nice....
Hmmm, hard to say for sure as I think they will have to have some advanced planning for these things before going in to production but its been a bit tit for tat with them for years.

Hi, I honestly have no idea when it will be in other countries, I should imagine it will be before the end of this month once they have stocked up all the U.K. shops. After playing with the board a little longer I think its about the same density as the Blade 4, not much difference overall in that regard although I found a few spots on the board that seemed a little softer.
I have the blade 4 when coming rotate after how long?
rotate at least once a week, more if you play a lot.
Would you recommend this over the blade 4?

not much to choose between but the B5DC seems to wear a little better.
what can this board do that the blade 4 cant?
Make scrambled eggs, oh wait no that's not it, ermm, its got thinner wires and the wiring is stronger did you not watch the review? naught naughty! Seriously though you could ask that question of any board that has ever existed and its not so much what the board can do as to what you the player can do to take advantage of its supposed improvements and for mere mortals like myself I doubt it will do me any better than the Blade 4 did as my accuracy is not pin point enough to take advantage of the slightly increased scoring area but if the board wears longer which I am hoping with the new spider it well then that is the main advantage I think :)

Hi, i don't get it. They just made the trebles bigger? So that means it's easier to hit 180's. Why do they do that because if you get used to this board and you have to play a game on a blade 4 you'll hit less trebles and doubles? Why do they change it?
Good point and one that is discussed about a lot, but the segments can get no bigger than 10mm as that is the limit so the debate will go on whether its a good or bad idea but I think it will only benefit pro players the most or if your already of a high skill level as we are talking about a 1 mm or thereabouts, so your accuracy/skill will need to be high already to take advantage of it.

Its 10mm from apex of wire to apex of wire in the regulations but the pros will be using the HD2 or the Gladiator 3 or the Blade 5 DC so same as what you can buy in the shops.

The Target stormpoints are awesome to throw, highly recommended.
I got them too many horror stories of them breaking though

I like the Blade boards and I would say the Bulls are very good boards too but I often find them too hard for my liking, so if you prefer a firmer board it could be worth trying the Bulls but I think for me the best 2 or 3 boards are the B4DC, B5DC and the Gladiator 3.

I’m not picky about noise, just reliability and longevity
Well I would normally have said the G3 but a few people have had some dodgy ones lately, so its a bit of a gamble still, I think the either B5 is not as long lasting as the B4 was, not sure why so I would still go for the G3 and hope you get a good one :)
still say the bulls advantage are better had mine over 7 months still like new and not 1 bounce out from the spider
I have only ever had a bulls adv 2 and the sisal lasted well but the spider did not, I also had lots of drop outs and bounce outs for the first couple of months, I would like to try their latest board though :)
Darts Review Channel I personally loved the bulls advantage but found it very dense. Some softer throwers had many fallouts (not bounce outs). It just looked so bright compared to the others even if the wires weren't the most durable. Overall win au make the best boards based on price v performance imo.
I think the looks is what attracted me to the BA2, it was bright and clean but too dense for me.

This is my dartboard. It's actually quite good but sadly it doesn't last very long
Yeah my old B4 lasted longer
I have 1 but its fairly beat up after almost a years constant play, so I replaced it with a Nodor Supamatch 3 which was on sale on eBay, and I have to say I'm really impressed with how well its holding up so far.
I've just changed mine around after a year of hitting the 20 and t20 segment

Yes ,,the (Spider) i Notice is that bit more refined,,My blade 3 after a year was bent in few trebble places,,Can i ask if you find it as strong as the blade 4 spider,,,,i still call spider,,,the Chicken Wire from Eric bristow days,,i was a kid back then
its a little smaller than the B4 wire but I have not had any problems so far, still a bit early days for me though.

ShaunYoshiGaming no it doesn't. I was expecting it to look identical but I'm surprised by the close-up comparison at the actual difference
Also I don't like the new unicorn numbers. Too distracting when most players already know where the numbers are anyway
I like the 3d effect of them and also that I can align them to be more central on the segments but they are not so good for below average players who may hit them a lot. They get knocked off or broken.

Boy, they are squeezing out every little millimeter they can, and it makes you wonder if they're about at the limits for that now.

Indeed, there is little left to improve on here IMO. When you remember playing on round wires loaded with fat staples, all these new razor types are night and day different. I get a chuckle hearing these younger guys winge over bounce outs on thes new boards. You do a fantastic job on all your reviews, and Ive enjoyed going back on your forum again. Great place. 👍🏻

I could see them creating a spider from an actual razor that doesn't protrude more than 1mm from the board face... my dream! I have a blade 3 at my home and I use a junk board to practice when I am at my cabin, round wires, I pulled a lot of the staples. As soon as I get my blade 5 I am taking the B3 to my cabin and burning that old round wire board!

The quality of this board is terrible! The spider is excellent but the sisel is terrible! Can't compare to the blade 4
I dont think its lasting as well as the B4, but no idea what they may have done to change it?
Darts Review Channel it's such a shame! Winmau were always known for long lasting sisel. I tried the Unicorn HD 2 and that sisel is so bad it's embarrassing even with daily rotations! I'm not sure what board to try out now! Target? What's your recommendations?
I think the One80 Gladiator 3 is likely the best for wear now and some say the Bulls Advantage 3 too.
Darts Review Channel thanks for the advice! Ya world wide darts also recommend the Gladiator 3. It's supposed to be in a different league to other boards. It's such a shame how poor Unicorn boards are as I'd love to buy one but the sisel just isn't good. As you can clearly see on tv
Yeah One80 took a lot of time and money to get the G3 right and I think they have done a good job but dartboards are little like darts in some ways as some people may prefer one board over another, it may be harder or softer and if that's what they like then they will prefer it for that reason.
