Any idea what he did with the dart in his hands as he pulls back ?
When he pulls back he first stays in the parable that the flying dart will get when he throws. But at the end it seems he corrects this a little to a more horizontal position. Many players do this. E.g. Gary Anderson, James Wade ... Watch James Wade right handed by using this CSS in your browser:

@@forrest_lump That's right. By setting the dart in a horizontal position, the throw becomes a push from the bottom of the dart (by the thumb) instead of a pull from the sides of it.

Try watching this video at a slower speed, 0.5 and you can see the throw a lot better. Plus, it makes Rod sound like he's had a few pints!

Great video and its so interesting to see each players style. Not sure how common his grip is though? Finger placement is quite standard but looked like his thumb placement was right at the top of the barrel unless I was seeing it wrong?

Me it took some time before I mastered to have the same way of throwing as Adrian and I use the same darts the gen 2 and I managed to close at 134 t20 t14 and d16 and I managed some finishes and I play very strong and I almost made it to the 1 vs 1 final at the tournament I was playing and I get a lot of Adrian inspiration when I play and I love this player who gives everything and I hope he will come back to his best but it's when I saw his 9 darts against raymond van barneveld in 2015 at the world championship that I darted it's been 3 years that I play and I made the best player of my team with the best average of my team and that in 3 years and I almost made it to the finals this year and we managed to 1 game against a big team but lost but I played my best average this year during a game but I know that I have a progress even a to do but this player inspires me to go beyond to become a better player and I always wear his coolplay target dart shirt and I know that I have a part of it with me when I play but I play my own game but just to say that Adrian is an inspiration for me to go beyond my own game and I hope that he will give good games in the next tournaments because this year I hope to win but I love Adrian's throwing always accurate but beautiful throwing darts I utlise a lot this throw and I play hard since but I hope that he will play well because he is good to see play.

should show how you aim the dart and keeping the arm straight I have problems with I think it my wrist moves hence go in 1 or 5
Is that what the issue is? Cos I have a similar problem cos I constantly miss the 20 and divert sideways. Does the wrist need to be firmer?

Your cheeks send signals to your brain. Open mouth keeps cheeks relaxed, sends good signals to brain helps you stay calm.

When do they let go of the dart though. The more i practise and the better i get,still garbage,the earlier i seem to want to release the dart.
The south African player has threw a spanner in the works with his jerky throw,how many 180s he can hit and the fact he recently won a PDC title with his short,twitchy throw.
There is no set rule it's just practise for years and see what suits you in the end.
I like Wrights, Anderson, Prices, Vandebourgh and Lewis.
I guess his throwing style is so, because tall people usually have problems with the doubles in the lower part of the board. So maybe he throws like this because that's the best way for his height. Otherwise, the much I don't like him, I see how good player he actually is. And maybe I actually am starting to like him, because I feel for him. Nobody sings for him or chamts his name!
spd7693 He's my gradually become my favourite overall player and he, along with Wade are the players I route for, when Lewis is on he's special and I hope he rediscovers his confidence asap

I have the feeling he just has to improve on himself. His game seems the very same in every match and he seems to not care if he wins. But now he's going out of the shadow of Phil Taylor and this will boost him. Though he has to look for things to improve.
Someone in the comments mentioned he may have "dartitis", so he has to fight it. Same as Mark Webster, who has the typical problems of the left-handed darter as well. I wish he overcomes it.
