  • dartsreviewchannel.com/ In this video I provide a proper unbiased and reasoned review on the new Unicorn Eclipse Ultra dartboard. The new board as seen on TV PDC darts events. The board is pricey at £74.95 but is there justification for that price? I give some thoughts in that regard but is it the best board? Thats a little too early to know for sure as it takes time to test for wear and tear, but its clearly obvious Unicorn have put some effort into making a good board as it looks very good indeed but check out this fully detailed review and make your own mind up.

      Thanks mate! I think darts and equipment is very much a personal thing and with boards its also how they are used, that is the conditions of the environment, the players points, how they look after it etc etc so its really not a good idea to take one or even three or four video reviews as the final answer, you have to read feedback from many people over the months it takes to find out all the little issues. I can guarantee you will always have people stating one board is better than the other though because of such things :)

    I received my Target Aspar this week, the quality out of the box is really, really bad (on mine at least)… I really regret buying it, wish I had gone for either this new Unicorn or waited for the new Winmau instead… lesson learned!

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      Cheers mate! Yeah as you seen in my Aspar review it did have some imperfections, I have seen worse though, but I did say it was not as flawless as the launch images suggested, if you were to listen to other channels they claimed I said nothing negative about it at all, which is not true I did. But like I say everything I do is do with all the info and details there for you the viewer to make your own mind up. I said the number ring would have divided opinion and it does but from the oche the Aspar looks fine and I like the minimalist look. After around 12 or so hours of use though the holes were not healing at all so that was not good, but since then I have played it longer and they are now starting to heal so who knows, yes its not the best but its not the worse either, but I never expected it to beat a Blade or One80 G3.

This after I had spent close to $4000.00 Canadian on their once great website. Personally I think they had the market by the balls and have gone downhill consistently the last few years...note one of my team mates also had an issue where they screwed up and would not rectify the issue so overall IMO...good prices but it's a gamble you're going to get what you order and if you don't they are horrible to deal with

It took me a rather long time before I got to where I like it. It was really "different" trying to find items...the new site felt like it flowed exactly opposite of the way the old one did - if that makes sense. Either that, or I just don't like change...lol. Probably both.

    To me I am pleasantly surprised at how good the White sections look on this board. They are nice and bright and actually white, not that cardboard color. This is by far the cleanest looking board from Unicorn I have seen to date. I did watch a Ryan Searle interview where he was complaining that these boards we a bit too soft. Looking forward to the 30 day updated video. First impression I have is that it looks like Unicorn has produced a winner here.

I think if I used such a heavy dart it would sink in past the nose of the barrel lol I will be updating after 20 hours use but I really hope it does wear well for Unicorns sake if anything, once one brand outright dominates the market like Winmau seemingly are looking to do, it wont be good for us in the end.

    • @cinemainsymphony737
      @cinemainsymphony737 Před 2 lety

      Darren, yes it is quite soft. I’ve only been using my B6TC for a day or so - I’ve always been tempted by the Unicorn boards and not played on one for a few years - I get tempted because of their PDC usage and exposure - but then always swayed by a Winmau. I’m gutted that my Blade 5 Dual Core has the BDO logo it - sought after? For sentimental value maybe - but I hope to find a good home for it as it still has another 1-2 years of use I reckon. (I’ve found you can heal up the B6TC quite well but lightly brushing a dart tip over the indent. Currently throwing Winmau Tuscan 24g with Hawaii 501 standard flights and prism short stems. Switched from my 23g Phil Taylor Target Black Special Editions - still have my trusty Winmau Navigator 3s (what a bargain) and Steve Beaton 24g Winmau from about 2012 or so. One day I’ll buy an expensive set to see how long they last without getting beat up with my stacking!

    I bought a blade 5 dual core a few months back and I'm very satisfied with it. My only complaint is that not all of the beds were raised the same. Some of the triples are raised and some look like they are sunken in. Is this common on boards?

      @DartsReviewChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      Now I thought the dual core board is a great idea, think the B4DC was better than the B5DC, my last two B5DC were a lumpy mess after about 6 months, so thats why I prefer the One80 G3+ Sounds like your board has some problem already though.

      I have my Blade 5 Dual Core about 2 years and it’s still in great nick apart from the usual sisal bits that start to show from use. The one thing I have noticed lately is that on two of the segments the joint of the sisal biscuit is starting to push out slightly. My precious Blade 5 done the same before.

Hint: You can place some 3m silicon adhesive disks on your adjust wheels, they will deaden the sound, keep your board from moving, and protect your walls. Not a good idea to twist the dart when you take it out of the board. If your points have any imperfections on them, or simply in the board tight - twisting will destroy your spider inside pretty quickly. With a little time passing you will start feeling wires tearing inside as you spin the dart while taking it out.

    • @DartsReviewChannel

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  Před 2 lety

      you serious? I thought I was bad at D.I.Y.? Even I could work that out. They screw into the board, how on earth could you screw them into the wall? First time I had ever seen them in person and was obvious to me that was what you have to do. Granted it would have been nice of them to have some sort of instruction and it would have been even better if they had some holes marked or pre-drilled but it was not hard to do it. Personally though I think the old style method of sticking something like thick card or rubber wedges between the board and wall works just as well and creates less of an impact sound. The Built in rota lock wheels on the Blade boards are similar, great for steadying the board but create a plasticky thud which transfers through the wall. Also if your main bracket is a little loose like mine is its easy to overtighten them and pull the bracket out. So they have their plus and minus points but if you are having problems fitting them then just stick with some thick card rolled up or get some board wedges like these: www.dartscorner.co.uk/mission-dartboard-wedges-board-packer-pack-8-black-p14330
