Prosper, Tome-Bound | EDH $100 Budget Deck Tech | Commander | Dungeons & Dragons: AFR | Exile

On BudgetEDH we build fun and optimized commander decks with a pre-set budget in mind. In this week's episode, we build a $100 budget Prosper, Tome Bound deck from the Magic the Gathering new set Dungeons and Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. Prosper is a legendary Tiefling Warlock with the powerful ability to exile the top card of your library at each end step, allowing you to play that card on your next turn. This gives you a value engine in the command zone, giving you card advantage each turn, something that Rakdos isn't generally good at. In addition, when you play cards from exile, Prosper has another ability which gives you a treasure token with each card played from exile. This works if you play your cards from exile, or play your opponents' cards from exile as well. In this deck, we lean heavily into the exile theme, with over 30 exile matters cards in the deck. We will go over all of those cards, in addition to the wincons in the deck and an upgrade section too, swapping out 5 cards for non-budget options.

New to magic here
So the last card valki/tibalt
Do we have to play valki and then pay his transform cost or can we just sleeve tibalt facing out

You probably want to sleeve it with Valki facing out, but it's not a transform cost- you choose which side to cast it as, then flip it, but if it's, say, in your graveyard or exile, it'll be there Valki-side up for the purpose of interacting with it. The little arrows in the top left of the card indicate the front/back for these "mdfcs" (modal dual-faced cards.) It matters bc of how certain effects will see/interact with the card while it's there.
