It’s funny how even watching the video you can get relaxed and into the process. Awesome honing my friend. This hobby is fun and people can get to different places taking different routes and even get to the same place with different processes, at the end of the day we are shaving. Cheers my friend

Right. Don’t really matter how you get there, as long as you enjoy the process and you’re happy with the results.

Wise words Eric , naturals are very individual, they all need 'learning' even similar coticules have different characteristics. ( that's why I often fall back on synthetics for their consistency) thanks for the mention ,we are a broad church 😂.

If it was easy, it would not be as interesting, well not to me at least. I hope you’re all rested and rejuvenated from your holiday. Looking forward to your next content.

Very nice looking Jnat there. Looks like the perfect size for travel too.

That’s exactly what it is, my travel Jant. I would not call it the total package because it’s really hard. But if you can go to it with a set bevel. It can handle mid thru finish. I used to pack a few small ones, this one now totes the load.

I have never seen the wax used. Great tip, I’m definitely going to give that a try.

So after another attempt at synthetics up to 8k I’m getting chipping yet again…
I reset the bevel on my Coticule followed by Mejiro on a kiita.
I finished on the same coticule with water.
It’s promising but may need some tweeking but no chips
At the end of the day I’m getting discouraged at the liabilities from synthetics.
    Great video.

I had lot of chipping issues and ugliness when I used my shapton set exclusively. You probably seen the same thread on B&B, that with the shapton pro stones looks are deceiving. They appear toothy and not attractive, but Supposedly it does not affect the shave. I would not know, because I always moved to a natural early on and that would clean the bevel up. I won’t lie, I did not like the way it looked. Eventually I cleaned house and swapped over to Naniwa Arata (15mm Chosera). I could not be more happy. I can progress up to 10k and shave and be satisfied if I choose to go that route. Not saying the Shapton Pros are an issue. Many people love them. They’re just not for me.

@@BigEShaves I’m actually seeing chips when I move to the Glass Stone 8K believe it or not. Still, naturals seem to come with less liabilities IMO…
I’m working on getting a Binsui to set bevels on. Technically it’s a sword polishing stone but will definitely work for razors.

@@DevanJackson I have acquired a few Washitas in some stone lots. They may be slow but they are mild on the steel. If you ever want to try one I would be happy to send one your way to try. Like I said, I have a few.
