Great job Eric. I appreciate your approach which avoids "The best" or "The only" way to hone. I'm sill in the early phase of learning to straight razor shave and I'm amazed at how effortless you make it look in your other videos.

Well, there is more than one way to skin a cat, and my way may not work for you. The tinkering and the trials and errors is what makes this fun for me. It’s not for everyone. Just start slow and understand most of the problems are us, the honer and not the stone. Save yourself some money and understand what you’re doing before chasing stones. Because that will come eventually 🤣😜😩. If I can help you along the way, shoot me an email, or request anything you would like to see the comments. It’s always helpful to have a direction on what folks want to see. Take care!

I think it's time for me to properly introduce myself.
My name is Ryley kreger. Im 32. Currently living in Utah but from Idaho.
I'm new to honing and straight razors. I only have 2 razors and 1 shaveete.
And my face has never been so clean.
Im trying to simply get my razors useable. I'm close to, can do everything except the moustache with my honeing.
Im looking into the shapton kourmaku 1 to 12 thousand set.
The feathered frontiersmen comes from the years of bird hunting all throughout the great basin.
Good luck with the channel, I'll be watching.

Amen on the coti. I have been there, struggling with my stone, but you got to keep at it until you learn the stone

Absolutely Brother, no better feeling. Once you got her licked, you can’t hardly beat the shave and the consistency. Stoked for you, that you finally whipped it into shape!

Great video Eric! I’m just getting into Coticules and I’m getting nice edges. One natural stone I’ve had consistent results from is a French Black Shadow.

I don’t have a Shadow yet but I have a few slates, and I am very much a fan. It’s in the list tho

Your video's are addictive Eric , DMT and 1k I'll happily use to remove bad faults and blade nicks etc . Then I apply sufficient torque.
Your spot on saying we should wonder through our stone progression as we think right for us , we are all individuals. ( After the proper bevel set ! ....as you say ,thats the key 🔑 our starting point ).
Ps , the day I'm tempted to pay $1,000+ for a jay nat ,please shoot me 😂.

I just think it’s hard to really learn if you follow someone’s prescribed method. I learn best thru trial ans error. I think it would be disingenuous for me to not stress that in my videos. There are so many ways to go about this. The funnest part is figuring it out. As you said in your last video. What brings me most joy is bringing folks to the hobby. Not telling them it’s so hard they have to be a gifted hone master to navigate these waters. Again, as you have stated, it’s fairly simple.

@BigEShaves You're spot on again Eric 👌...I try to simplify in my honing and shave videos....or it scares people away !

Hi Eric. Thanks for sharing. You're probably right if you don't like cotis just don't use them. Do you think a la lune also has range? Have a good hump day

One of mine is decent, I can come off of 5k and get a polish after 3-4 heavy dilutions and finish on soapy water, oil or glycerin water, with a bunch of laps, it’s pretty slow. My other is limited and slow as all hell. I do not think La Lunes are consistent. My favorite La Lune is my Vermont slate 🤣😜.
