    I wish there was an indication of how big a file the export setting one selects will give. It would be useful to know before committing to what may be a very big export file size.

      Depends on how big your Video in general is. If you cut a 30 min Video its ofcourse bigger than just a 30 sec. Video. But as he said, the more Quality percentage, the larger your file aso.

    WOW.... THANKS.... I kind of stumbled on here by accident. I was watching another YT'r on shotcut tutorials explaining timestamps, and saw your headline. I clicked out of curiousity, but wasn't expecting much. I've been a YT'r for few years now, 130+ videos, and channel starting to grow finally. 99% of my video productions went through Shotcut, and I probably haven't even touched on HALF the possibilities I can do! But as far as exporting, I did not know that the "Hardware Encoder" meant my GPU (I always thought that was some external video/sound board that old studios used before computers handled it all, and now some hook those up to computers, and I thought Hardware Encoder was referring to that🤣)! I have an ASUS w Ryzen 7, internal Invidia Gfx, but also a second GPU with Radeon, and I never knew that selecting that hardware encoder checkbox would allow the Radeon to help the video rendering. In fact, all this time, I always thought it was using both Gfx processors!! lol...
    Anyway. I been searching for an easier way to make Chapter Timestamps on my YT videos. I love the new feature YT introduce, out now for a bit, but I still don't use it often, cause it's a daunting task to go through video looking for each subject change, potential chapters, writing the timestamp and the subject detail down, and than going to the Video description and typing all that in, timestamps and chapter details, so the timeline of video has chapter segments... it's annoying. And I could of sworn I saw somewhere, if using Markers in Shotcut, the info is included with the export, and the Timestamps are automatically included when you upload the video to YT, and I haven't figured out the how to do that yet.
    If you know what I'm referring to? It would be great if SOMEONE on YT could explain that how to! AND in search of this, i've seen plenty of YT videos pop up in my search of other video editing promoters showing this... so other editors seem to have the ability, and again, I thought Shotcut had this. But I'm not finding it!
    Thanks again. Now i know something though! H.264, and using Hardware Encoder on my next video!

    so when I chose 100% it won't play after it's done and the file size it ridiculously large, the edited video will be several times larger than the source video despite being shorter. I read in the forums that the quality percentage settings are misleading and anything over 70% is not really doing anything but making the file size larger.

    A while back I made a "custom setting" and saved it titled "4k".

    • @EJTech.
      @EJTech.  Před 2 lety +2

      You can make a "custom preset" and save it as an option. But if you want to know which settings to use, you can select on your 4k clip on the timeline and go to the properties tab. There it will show you all the properties of your video, such as the resolution, fps, audio settings and basically everything you need to know to make your custom preset.

    • @EJTech.
      @EJTech.  Před 2 lety +3

      I can't guarantee that it will upscale the resolution of your video, since the raw video file was recorded at 480p. I haven't tested it myself, but I don't think it would work as you'd like it to. The simple fix would be to record your gameplay at 1080p from there you could choose either 24, 30, or 60 fps. You can always test the footage yourself first and try exporting a segment of it in different settings. But that's what I would recommend.

    • @Bunta1987qwerty

      Software encoding is cpu, while hardware encoding is done by the gpu. Amf is the AMD video card encoder, and nvenc is nvidia. Both are fast. Even faster than my 3900x. I would recommend h265/hevc for nvenc and amf. Leave codec quality at 70%. Per shotcut, the loss is nothing the human eye could discern, but it would be a problem if the file has this done repeatedly. Default is 55% btw. Update: my Rx 6800 took 17:40 to export a 9:40 video at 4k60 this way. Under advanced, press configure, and then click detect. If your card shows hevc, use it. If it only offers h264, try it at 70%. If quality is too low, try 100%. I hope this helps. Lmk if you’d like me to do a video on it.
