Really Good lighting, pace, and detail when showing how to switch out drive. The little spring and reattachment
Finally a video where someone doesn't take the cave man approach. Cheers!

Nice one. Cool upgrade.
Thanks for the video bro
Wow mam you rock no subscribe no blabber just main thin love you bro
i haven't tried it, but I think it would be alright as long it is an original xbox drive
Thank you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
nice anti-static surface :p Good video.
Duck Tape completely unnecessary.

You saved my ass the other day when I forgot how all the heatsinks fitted back together! Was taking apart some cheap 250gb xbox copy HD and putting it into my halo case, so I didn't want to damage anything or go "fuck it"
Dan Allnatt haha I found this video since I want to do the same thing, put a 250gb HDD inside my Halo enclosure. Thanks widewings007 for this video.
RonChiChio The Halo one just looks so kick ass with the gold its on it. ( I have the green Halo 3 unit )
+Dan Allnatt I have the green one also unfortunately it got the RROD. I did just buy a Modern Warfare 2 console to swap the Jasper motherboard into the Halo 3 console. And yes the green and gold/orange does look nice.

are you using an original Microsoft xbox drive?
Theoretically you could clone the original one and upgrade to an ssd or a 500gb HDD that isnt an original xbox one
Thanks.
will this work with like a 320gb slim hard drive?
i mean so i can put a 320gb slim hard drive into the phat hard drive casing and use it on my phat xbox.
Is there a limit for the GB?
I try it with my hard drive from my old laptop but it has more then 900 GB and it dosent works.
Tails Prower Microsoft put a special code on there hard drives so what you have to do is get an official hdd for the slim take it out of its housing and put it in the original Xbox hdd case
It depends on the filesystem, Xbox 360 might use the FAT32 Extended fs or NTFS or EXFat, I'm guessing.
sweet
What is exactly your Hitachi Harddrive???
Great video! - Only thing is that carpet is not a good place to do this. Something like a table, towel or even paper is better. The slightest bit of static electricity can permanently damage hard drives.
Man times have changed 3 years ago that might of been a consern but Pcb are a lot thicker and more compact so static has less chances to kill a HDD then it uses to do a long time ago
@@Animefan-sn1gu Do a video and show us please. You obviously think that a PCB conducts electricity. :-)
Can you use SSD on that one?
could you play xbox originals on the new hard drive?
Just swap the HD without formatting it already recognizes? or have to do something to recognize another console hd? I await response.
you just need to transfer the license of the xbox to your new drive. xbox will prompt you on what to do.
Good swap video
Now show how to transfer data from your swapped drive to your new 250 gig drive
You're going to have to get a transfer cable to get the data from one drive to the other.
You can do this with a 500gb to 1TB Solid State Drive as those options.
I tried to install SSD, but my Xbox couldn't find it.
No. From what I understand, the HDD has to have a special firmware on it. If you buy a XBox 360 HDD, it already has this firmware. You can't just plug any random HDD to your XBox 360. I have already tried. It won't recognize it. Someone has made a special program that can replace the firmware only on certain HDD.
Do I need to copy the disks?
Does this work? Because I have a 20gb on my Xbox but I'm want to upgrade it. But will that work tho to upgrade to 250?
XxZiOnSpaRTanxX yes, I swapped in a 250gb hard drive into a Halo 3 case. I just used the transfer cable to copy everything over. Then after logging in I had to go to settings and transfer licenses.
Without pre-format the new hard disk on FAT32 and write in a .bin file working too?Its strange.I will try....
guys I'm gonna show you homemade one
Can i use a laptop to format my hard drive? Or do i need a desktop to do so?
You can use a laptop with a sata connector but I recommend a PC
Probably stupid question, but can I replace Xbox HDD with SSD?
My Xbox 360 didn't have a hard drive included. Used X360 HDD and new SSD's are in similar prices. Getting HDD case and a brand new SSD seems a better idea to me.
Perhaps but you might need to clone the old one or just take any files on it and put them on the new one
@@derpdude32 Yea, but this is confusing. I've seen somewhere a video where man succesfully formatted SSD without any issues. Meanwhile people claims that I'll need to mod my X360. Some sources claims that I'll need to mod a disk itself, and some people say that nothing else, but a specific HDDs will work. Some of these infos are old AF, I don't get it.
@@derpdude32 my hdd is broken. Can i just directly replace to any 2.5" hdd without any mod?
Thx for info
@@alphabookm4793 It all depends, I have seen them replaced normally but if IFixit is telling me correctly then apparently it voids some 360s terms of service agreements and can get you kicked off Xbox live in some cases. Again I do not know myself but I might try this experiment later this year. Until then I would just play it safe and replace the HDD with one from the inside of a 360 slim HDD case
Is it a must to use the WD haed drive as its very expensive in SA. (South Africa)
yup or fujitsu....
wouldn't there need to be some formatting or something for the system to see the 250gb drive? I want to put an SSD in mine. my 360 has a "60 GB" drive as it's labeled. My system is a stock white xbox 360
Yes, you'll need to grab the key from the old drive and transfer it onto the new one so it will be compatible with the xbox.
@@ayanamisuki the key is a file on the drive? easy to access / copy / paste or some special formatting? NTFS or Fat32?
@@8bitwidgets Fat32 i think, you need a specific hard drive to flash firmware compatable with the xbox using hddhackr

Can i use a laptop hard drive
Can the hard drive be installed in a 2,5 inch external rack? Please give me an answer
I think you will have a problem with the connection if you want the full size. But if it is alright to just use the partial size then just plug it to the usb port.
Hi recently I also bought an xbox 360 and I would like to put a new hard drive in there I won't have to download the xbox system somewhere?
No. From what I understand, the HDD has to have a special firmware on it. If you buy a XBox 360 HDD, it already has this firmware. You can't just plug any random HDD to your XBox 360. Can you make it a usb carrier
Is it possible to transfer data from a non-xbox live profile to the other hard drive?
Yes
Since april you can now use usb storage up to 2tb. I'm wondering if there is a limit with the proprietary hdd cage.
The maximum is 2TB my friend
Ya I gave up trying to get drives to work with the cage so I'm going to mod a usb port to the top. Will look nice and have a 2tb drive that's easy to take off and plug right into a pc if necessary.
Don't have a t1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or 9 please help I need those
Hey, does anyone have a link for how to get the firmware and such onto the new hdd?
Joe Newbie it's an old ass version tho
You should show it working on the machine.
My Xbox didnt detect my hard drive
what's the largest size hdd i can use?
2.5 so a laptop hhd or a ssd
does this get`s ban? like for example if i`m playing destiny, can i get banned?
Nope. You won't get banned from installing a new disk drive into your Xbox 360. You'll only get banned if you do stupid things in Destiny like DDoS someone in Trials of Osiris.
Not error xbox hard disc? E68
What size of hard drive does it need to be and what is the maximum capacity it supports?
I do believe it could support to 500gb at max
2TB. Just buy the 9.5mm thickness not the 15mm height or else it will not fit. Format it using the FAT32.

Do you mean its HDD case opening it and putting and brand of 2.5 in it?
If yes, any brand will do! It can support internal and external up to 2TB Capacity but if it will not accept the 2TB because your console is stock then you need to modify your X-Box. Watch here modification the X-Box that has an installed 16TB. I forgot what they call the modification.
Okay, but can I replace that HDD with SSD?
Please I need help with my Xbox 360 hard drive I have tried every single method to repair it, none of them worked.

Does the hard drive brand and model matter, or does it just have to be 2.5 inches?
ChaosBringer it needs to be 2.5 inches and under 1tb
Can't we DD the image of the old HDD and and put it on the new?

To high
Hello widewings007 I have to change my hard drive, it must in what format to put it in the console, please help ❓❔
The console will say it is unformatted storage. Use the console to format it. Then you can do transfer from there.
Edit: NTFS
I bought the hard drive of the kind you see is it 100% effective?
+selmen ghanou What do you mean?
I mean it works without any problems, there was no difference between the old and the new hard drive, but in the exoskeleton ?
+selmen ghanou dude. its a fucking hard drive. of course its the same
Can this be done with a 1tb or a 500 GB hard drive
Yes. My jasper is going on 1tb pretty well
A SSD will work or only HDD?
ssd should work aslong as its sata
I have a older first generation 8 gig hard drive and got my old HD from my old hp laptop it runs at 54 the speed it's 250gb like the one used will it work my 8 gb is not working properly it causes the Xbox to heat up so I took it off
I know they were banning people years ago for not using official drives. Also there was a complicated BS procedure needed to format them. Did they ax these 2 issues? IF it won't anger the gods at Microsoft for me to do so then it's upgrade time.
i guess the problem you mention may happen with actual fake hdd like the whole thing not just the hdd, if you use a original cartridge (lets call it like that) i dont think there should be problems, but this is just an idea
I thought you were going to show us how to increase the current storage space not replace the hard drive inside

Can it support a WD hdd with 1tb storage?
Yes it will even up to 2TB. You just need a firmware update and format it using FAT32.

I have a question if i replace the hard 250 gb all my games ive play it the games will remove or stay plz anyone can reply
Your download games and save files are all installed on the original 250 gb hard drive. If you want to access them again, you’ll need to transfer them to the new drive
@@thealfamayl how? Explain it to me
can i upgrade 500gb fo them ?
Yes
why take it apart you can buy a 250 hdd they make them
Aren’t the old style drives limited to 120GB, you had 20GB OG, 60GB Pro and 120GB elite. 250GB with secure keys are the slim versions that are plug and go, hence why it works for hot swaps. Max secure key hacks I think are 500GB for none official sanctioned MS drives that you do yourself with HDDhack.
il coût combien
Tryning it with a ssd today lets see if it works
So how did it go?
@@safetydoge bad😂😂 didnt work you cannot put a ssd in a xbox 360 only with a external ssd
Useless... SSD will not utilise its full speed as the Speed is limited to 2.0, better sticking with the 2.5 and just HDD hacking it and adding the secure keys.
If you do this do you get in trouble with Microsoft
How? That seems literally impossible unless some stranger knocks on your door saying "Let me look at your Xbox 360 HDD."
Can one combine two hard drives? You know like take a 60 GB hard drive and sandwich it together with an other 60gb?

Hi i can use ssd?
Yes, just tested now. It works. I use an external ssd or hdd case which supports USB 3.0.
@@yanglue611 what you saying is a external hdd with 3.0 usb can be used and plugged it in the xbox 360 usb port. And do nothing with the original top hdd xbox 360?
Correct ?
@@s17480e Yes, the top hdd didn't work for me. The Xbox 360 has embedded storage on the motherboard compare to the xbox 360 slim where the hdd is on the right side. The xbox 360 slim with the hdd on the right when it lays down flat. Those type have operating system in the hdd instead of having it on a embedded storage. Hence, people who does have hdd fail will technically have issues. As to where the hdd storage on top, you just lose your games, progress, and even your profile, but the operating system will still work. The hdd will need to be format.
OR plan (B) just plug in a 1 TB external and POOF you da man
I belive this video is very mis leading.
I dont think u can just swap out a drive like that. U need to prepare the drive first
I’m in the process of doing this, do you have any suggestions on how to prep the drive first? Better yet, where to find the files for it?
I agree - if you go grab a spare 2.5" out of some old laptop this will not work at all - and it does not just prompt you to format when booting back up - you need to do something with the bigger hard drive before trying to put this in your xbox 360. Perhaps what he bought was a pre-formatted XBOX 360 direct from Microsoft - which I had no idea you could do if that's hte case.
how about a fat xbox?
