Thanks man, my original 360 just went down and I bought a used 4gb slim figuring I would just use flash drives. But just like you said some games only let you install to a xbox hard drive. You literally saved me at least $80.00, you're awesome.

while watching your video for almost 17 mins I finally happen to see the little tab that lifts the grill to put my hard drive in my Xbox. then 3 mins later you finally do it. good God man. get to it. not helpful except gave me 20 minutes of looking at my Xbox so that I ended up finding it myself.

There's an option in your storage settings if you click the flash drive to set it as a internal drive. Would of saved ya alot of time lol

Once again thank you, Just bought the original xbox hard drive 60GB for £10.00 and took it apart like in you video, and it has worked like a charm, Installing Battlefield 4 right now, I see your point for getting the caddy for it also, so i am going get one of those in the near future Can`t go wrong for £1.50.

I purchased the official xbox 360 elite 120GB hard drive and the caddy on ebay at a cheap price. It worked!!! Also it can save original xbox games!!! Im able to play original xbox games as well!!! Thank you so much for making this video!!! 👍👍

Instead of switching hard drives,
Cant we just buy a used 250gb hard drive for like $30 ?
Or just pikup a whole 360 250gb console bundle with controller and games for like $50 on ebay, fb or offerup etc. ?
And just sell our old hard drive for like $10-$20 ?
You could buy the used 250gb hard drive. Or you can buy a new one with the enclosure on Amazon for around $40. They have come down in price since I made the video.

I have a long and complex backstory in how I ended up here. Wanted to mention several years ago I bought a 2.5" hdd online (pretty sure WD) and found a utility to flash the drive and the 360 DID read it OK. Years later, , and here I am trying to get it going with my "new" 360 S. Thanks for the video - was helpful knowing I just need a drive caddy. Also, Go Blue! :)

We have both and recently added an XBOX One, now for a PS4 to come. I prefer my PS3, for now.
I have never heard of a 4GB PS3, I have however heard of a 12GB Super Slim PS3. I would like to see the link where you found the 4GB PS3. I don't really care what any one person prefers to play on, I just like playing my shooting and sports games. You play them on whatever console you want, have a great night.

I actually bought destiny and a 2TB external hard drive just so I could play it. when it turned on it said I needed a hard drive to play even though I had an external one. I ended up buying an internal hard drive to be able to play it. Thanks for the tutorial.

For anyone trying this in 2022 this works if you have a 360 e as well, just pluck the old hard drive from either the FAT model or the or arcade and your good to go!

on the 4gb slim units you can solder a usb extension cable directly to the motherboard and connect a flash drive or portable usb harddrive for extra storage
Wow, I didn't know the that's what it's inside the original Xbox 360 HDD. But I bought a third party 32O GB HDD for the Xbox 360 Slim on Amazon for $40. It's been two years and everything is going fine.
Good info, but you could probably just put a piece of cardboard under the drive, though it might come loose if you move the unit.

Hello mate just wanted to know if that black hard drive case you bought doesn't it come with the hard drive in ready to slot in or do you have to buy drive separately
You can buy the case complete with a hard drive ready to install, but I didn't want to spend the money on one. At the time they were a bit more expensive than what you can find them for now. I have seen some 500GB on eBay for 60.00USD but it is eBay. Amazon also has them I'm assuming that the prices should be close to the same. Thanks for the comment.

Hello, are the caddys that come with the harddrive preinstalled safe? I am hoping to purchase one and this video helped alot explaining. However this question ia still in my mind.
what caddy? the black one that I install at the end, or the grey one? The Grey one is the one that is used on the original 360. You need the black one that is made for the Slim. Floods if I remember correctly the new game's data was saved to the hard drive I installed. you can check in the storage settings.

Just picked up a 360 e model real cheap. Thought I was scammed when I saw an empty hdd bay. Looked on eBay for a cartridge and drive, ended up finding an oem 500gb for $30. Thanks for the video, tho

You don't have to do anything to it if you buy an original 360 hard drive, you just do as I did and take it out of the grey case and install it into the 360 Slim. I bought mine from Game Stop.
