Metal detecting abandoned homesteads in Montana. Ep 313

Perfect grazing land, but where is the homestead? Surely, somebody set up a ranch here. Finding old sites to metal detect for treasure isn't always easy. We completely missed this old sheep ranch last year, but I found it on some historic aerials. Those can be great tools to help you find spots to metal detect. Sometimes there is nothing to see, but other times there are huge foundations and walls left. This old home site is so beautiful. Let's save some history!

That first lamp was a carbide lamp used for mining and Hunting. Beautiful County!

Old Iron is underestimated in detecting, even by myself in the past. There is so much cool fancy iron left at nearly every site. I'm starting to make stuff out of it! Kind of an extra bonus in the hobby. However I do love that cameo!!!

Horizontal water tank justright carbide lamp. That's an early one.
