I like that you didn't take out the glass. Mine is having an issue where sometimes it'll work and roll down other times (usually at a bad time) it won't. I know its not the switch or the wiring because even when it doesn't roll down I can still here the auto down relay thingy clicking so its getting power, It has its good days and bad days so eventually I will need to replace it. Some say you need to remove the whole assembly including the bar that the glass slides up and down. I do not wanna drill out the rivets holding the glass because the way I see it one slip of the drill and I might need a new window so i'd like to avoid that if possible.
You may want to check the wire harness between the door and body of the car for a broken wire of frayed wire that might be causing the intermitted issue you are experiencing. This video will show you what to look for. czcams.com/video/EcOWrgmMUFw/video.html

(4) Round phillips or Hex head Size: 1/4in-20x 3/4 in
(4) Nylon Lock Nuts
Size: 1/4in-20
(4) Fender Washers

Thanks for this video. There are several videos here showing this job, but with a working motor, which allow the window to positioned to remove the rivets. Mine is stuck in the up position as yours was.

Trying to replace the regulator in my '02 Ranger. I can't get it the new one into the track
It should go back together as shown in this video.
These instructions are much better than some other videos. Do you know what rivets would be best? Quarter inch, but what length shank?

We just used some rivets we had in the shop that fit.
That's a vapor barrier, keeps the back of the panel dry.

Do they just make the wearable teflon guide slide for these window regulators? Mine is worn out and the window goes up and down fine but wont seat properly at the top rear of the window so there is an aig gap unless i get the window mostly to the top and then push the glass to the back at the top and then crank it up.
I am not sure haven't lookin into replacing just the window regulator guides for this Ford Ranger window.
The job would be simpler by buying the regulator with the motor atteched, that way you don't have to deal with the bracket
When ever possible yeah we typically will buy a brand new window regulator assembly with a new motor too.
I had the spring fall out on the window regulator and the regulator only go One Direction any suggestions

@@HomeOwnerRepair I like the fact that you used a rivet gun instead of nuts and bolts. I bought the rivet gun you recommended. It's a quality tool and easy to use.
