I’ve come across this topic after watching a video on Transvoicelessons - where they explained how resonance, vocal folds and false folds all combine to make a voice sound feminine. When I sing, I have a specific way of stretching myself to reach pitches just before flipping to falsetto. Listeners always described it as “delicate” or feminine - I never knew why. All these resources explain it. Thanks for sharing your method, very interesting! Season’s Greetings!
the R method is completely new, u are the only one who talked about it, u are too awesome!!!
I plan to try this! Thanks so much JoanZ! I do love your voice.
Thank you for all your help love Nicole
I like your content, shocks me that you don’t have more subs. But keep it up with these very good tutorials.
Fantastic voice. Great help to me!
I hope you do realize, that you are my hero. So far, i wasn't able to "really" say anything. But i had like one sound comming out and now i know how it should feel, i just have to get there. :D
I am so glad that I'm able to help out! Thank you so much! ^~^
I appreciate you making this video. Im excited to try the technique 😁!
I definitely agree that going back and forth with your voice, especially without training, could definitely lead to nodules forming. Most of my background with voice training has been self-taught for singing, and one commonality is teachers/professionals will talk about being careful not to strain your voice with sounds that are too far outside your range. That kind of vocal flexibility and strength has to be built up slowly, and kept up, just like any other muscle
Very interesting subject JoanZ
Thank you for this video! I only wanna know how to speak feminine because of a video I'm working on where I talk in different voices.
I haven’t watched it yet but I’m excited! Thank you so much for this! And it’s nice, correct me if I’m wrong but it seems like you’ve found a great community and are possibly a bit happier. :) it’s great to see
I've met loads of amazing people this last year and it's been exciting to meet all the people I did along the way and find something I really want to do!
I found you on Tiktok. You seem like someone I should subscribe to 😉
Any tips are also good for sure i do practice everyday myself but i have been a tad lazy of doing vocal exercise to warm the vocals up which i should do more of that but i have progressed from the 4 semesters i did in a college that a clinic is in but awsome job.
Waiting for the next part😊
Will have the next part up in early January when I get a better mic and headset for VRChat! ^~^
Me personally, I used to be able to do a female voice. I am a male who is a voice actor and I need to be able to use the female voice again-
Also comment. Please don’t film right in front of a light.
Yeah, I didn't exactly have the best area to make recordings prior and I made them spontaneously, but future content will deffo have nicer background and lighting. But thank you for your feedback!
I'm making an arthouse project and this is so necessary.
Agggh--Thank you so much♡
You're welcome! ❤️
You are very good please keep it up don’t stop love Nicole trans girl xxx
Wow thanks.
This video was the best
You're so cute omg
Hi thank you so much, your R technique is so helpful!
I also wanted to give you a heads up and say that alot of trans people find it offensive when cis people use the term 'trap'.
Thank you for watching! I am also aware that some may find the term "trap" offensive but I mean no harm by it. I myself am not cis, but use the term as a way to differentiate between Trans-people, and people using the voice just for fun or use it as a party-trick.
But thank you for your feedback and the title will be changed asap!
@@joanz4811
Of course! I totally get what you mean, I've personally never had an issue with the term as it's been so normalized to me as I've heard it so often. I didn't realize until you had pointed it out that some may not see it that way and therefor I will be looking out for those kinds of mistakes in the future for everyone's wellbeing!
@@joanz4811 Ohh gotcha. Perfect
What if u already have a good girl voice but some ppl say that they knew it already?
This happens all the time, no matter how good one's voice gets. But don't take it too personally, because even naturally born girls will be thought to be males at times due to scepticism online. The best one can do is ask what it was that gave it away, and work on that. 😊
Its for voice acting
And trolling
Also, I have a question if you wouldn’t mind: for a total beginner, would you suggest the sharp breath or the R method? I have a hard time producing a sound once I feel my throat tighten and I feel as though it’s not the right sound when something does come out because it doesn’t feel like when I normally speak. Thank you in advance!
Also Happy Holidays! :D I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for being so helpful
I would recommend that you do the "R" method. Just keep saying it to yourself with different amounts of air and tightness in your throat. Drawing it out will help. It's okay to sound lazy in your voice. You can use different expressions, test with flamboyancy.
I hope this helps! :)
And happy holidays!
@@joanz4811 It does and I’m going to continue practicing! Thank you very much :)
Have a great day!!
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Joanz you voice is to good I hope 😊😊 you upload more videos op 😊😊
I will definitely be uploading more! And thank you, it means a lot! 😊
Thanks girl my voice sounds like Sam Elliots so l got a way to go and I'm a 68 yr old man? But you have helped alot so thanks
Your good im trying to learn this but its SO HARD eerrrr
I'm a guy and I sound like XJ9 ( Jenny) from a life if a teenage robot
Hi, first of all, thanks for making these videos to teach people! I'm sure many would benefit from it! As for me it's not super important this but I'd still like to. Right now I'm able to feminise my "R'"s and can say a few words like a girl like "hi" but as soon as I move into the words that don't have the beginning of an "ah" or "ur" in it, I lose the tightness in the throat and the sound. Am I supposed to try to maintain the same tightness from doing the "R'"s for everything I say? Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. This is tough!
I'm so happy to see that my tips are helpful! But yeah, you want to have similar tightness in your throat to the other sounds ^^ Also, keep in mind, training the voice will take plenty of time and dedication. It's like learning to speak all over again but eventually your voice will adjust :)
Hes yoda and im luke. keep teaching me master
He's one of the examples when doing a girl voice makes you sound older
Aye! Most tend to assume I'm in my late 20s when I ask friends and strangers :)
Good
Do you still give lessons? i would liek to try it! :)
My friend Rachel started a whole company for just that! Check her out at Transvoice.com - otherwise, my content here on youtube is free to watch ^^
Overall, recording yourself speak and playing it back helps loads. And having a favourite line to say when someone asks you to "do the thing!".
My default has always been "Colonel, I'm trying to sneak around.." or sounding like gps.
Natural speaking is challenging and just takes doing it consistently and getting used to saying things differently.
I'll deffo bring up this subject in future vids
I want to learn it so bad, but i am too embarrassed with myself :( maybe im scared to fail or to sound bad, let alone that someone can hear me practice.
Did this level take you about 6 months ( you're first video was about 6 months)
Also, how do you practice this, read a book aloud?
That was me on a bad day, 6 am, wasn't able to sleep. But ye that's about 6 months. I started with funny phrases like "Colonal, I'm trying to sneak around" and doing a "Siri" voice. I did it for roughly an hour at minimum every day. Some days nonstop online with friends. I have people spot me and tell me when I slip up so I can learn to say it in a different way that's more convincing.
It's good to practice with a friend if you get the chance. Otherwise, record yourself on your phone and listen back to your voice when you say casual conversation topics!
I hope this helps!
I have a lot of trouble losing the nasily/scratchiness in my voice it ends up sounding not natural at all. Any tips for that? I can get it to pitch up but it still sounds boyish and unnatural. I want to make it casual.
I getcha there, but it tells me that you're still performing your base rather well. What you can do is add a bit more breath to remove the rasp if you prefer, but otherwise, I'd say keep a bit of rasp to your voice as it can still sound natural as long as you have pitch. :)
Not every girl sounds like a Starbucks chick :p
@@joanz4811 yea! Thank you. I’ll try that. What I mean is it ends up sounding way too much like a Starbucks girl/valley girl impersonation every time I try and not really like... an actually casual or average girl voice. Sorta like the one you do. It sounds exaggerated and fake when I do it and i don’t know how to make it sound more relaxed or calm.
I understand what you mean. In that case, you may be using a lot of energy when talking, so perhaps try just throwing yourself back in a chair for example and relax, record your voice with your phone and casually talk about what you did during your day for example. You can try with low energy and work your way up to full-on Starbucks girl and listen back to it. Hopefully you'll hear a good spot in between to roll with and keep trying to mimic that tone! :)
How to hold Adam's apple. I remove my tounge and it sounds like granny.... Help dude.... Can u make a video on it.
2023: AI voice changer tutorial
How long did it take to get to your voice? Was it weeks, months years?
Up to this video had been roughly 6 months of doing it every day for a couple hours at a time. Unfortunately I'd not really done it justice in this video, although the next one will be better next month! :)
@@joanz4811 hours? every day? Damn that's impressive. I can barely do it for 30 minutes
Even watching all these more or less helping videos I don't really get it. I just don't get the "click" or the stuff what I can work with to practice. But the video and your female voice was great! =)
I'm sorry if any of the content is hard to follow, but I will be making more videos as I make them with relevant and easier tips to follow so more can learn with ease! :)
It's not directly because of you. It's more because of my English. It's not my native language. I can talk, write and read pretty good, but sometimes it's still difficult for me to listen and translate. ^^
If I rest my voice after practicing this, will it reduce the risk of damage?
Potentially. But it really comes down to technique. As long as what you're doing isn't hurting you. Like any form of vocal training though, you should give your voice a rest if you use it a lot.
But if the ultimate goal is for you to make it permanent, using it consistently will gradually tighten your vocal chords over time, resulting in a higher pitch. Your vocal range can rise, but you may lose the ability to produce lower tones that you once could.
@@joanz4811 thanks for the answer :) I don't know if I want it permanent or not, as I don't mind my current voice too much. Still, thanks for sharing the tips!
im like (wait what) meme
Oh dang, that sounds really good, and it's a good thing you are doing to help others.
The r technique doesn't really work for me
I have a problem that my voice sound too harsh and I don't know how to get rid of it to actually sound like a female :( Any tips?
Using more air when you speak can help if it sounds to gritty, or try lifting your chin when you speak! It takes practice to sound convincing!
@@joanz4811 Thanks for answering!
I’m straight but I want sound like a more feminine
So am I
what's the long term damage?
Growing your hair out and wearing your girlfriend's jeans. Fr though, nothing unless you strain too hard. If it hurts, it ain't right.
@@joanz4811 haha thanks a lot man
oddly enough, your tips work better than what most other youtubers say, keep it up cheers ❤️
thank you for this now i can do voice trolling lol
