There's some distinctions: You have a right to an attorney for criminal cases. If you cannot afford an attorney (indigent), the court will provide one. You may also represent yourself "Pro se". You do not have a right to an attorney in civil cases and may either hire an attorney or represent yourself "Pro se". Not that it applies to this case, however: to maintain one's BAR License you must provide X amount of legal counsel "pro bono" (free) per year. She should have dropped the attitude, stated she and her attorney disagreed with defense counsel's plan for case. Ask for a new attorney and continuance (both would be denied without just cause). Impropriety on behalf of a court appointed attorney faces penalties of admonishment, fines, and possible disbarment.
She has NO idea what shes doing, what to say, or any pro edures. Why do people come to court with such an attitude? Street "manners" dont fly in a court of law IF you get a good judge.

She probably thinks a PD isn't good enough for her
Soooo is she sticking with the PD or not?
@@thinkitythings for now, it seems
@@KikiDiki rather SHE'S not good enough for the PD
You realize it is because the PD is white right?
“I had complete zero understanding” - sounds about right!
Public defenders, over worked, under payed and a NECESSARY part of EVERY defendant's life!!!! A fabulous lawyer is worth their weight in gold!!
They get criminals and murderers off. Worst of the worst lawyers.
@@Catloudan and by the same thinking - prosecutors get innocent people sent to jail. No system is perfect.

@@CatloudanI agree with you. We should not have trials. Whenever someone accuses you of anything you get the death penalty
As a former criminal ..I love this judge . He is fair as far as I have seen . Not al judges are this kind . I speak from experience .
He was also suspended for 9 months back in 2017 because he tried to use his position of judge to interfere in the police's investigation into his intern's DUI.
If that's how she acted before a judge, I shudder to think how she acts in public.
Notice what actually happened, she got confused and clearly flustered.
These conditions are known to screw up our ability to think clearly, and maintaining professional composure requires clear thought.
While it’s obvious that this behavior should not be tolerated in the court room, we should at least understand why this happened on a personal level.
This is just how our brains react to these situations, and some people are just not going to be as in control of their emotions as others.
First time I ever heard a judge say she needs to check herself, and it was awesome.
Judge Simpson put her in her place really fast! She doesn't get to dictate what she wants without following proper procedures! I can't wait to see her next hearing! Thanks Wolfey for all you do! I absolutely LOVE your channel! Keep up the great work! 🤗💖🥰❤️
This judge wields uncomfortable pauses of total silence like a weapon. He doesn’t just let his words sink in, he lets them stew and age to perfection before moving on
This judge is so patient, so kind, so fair. He deserves our admiration.
He is good in terms of being no nonsense, but he is far from deserving our admiration. He was suspended for 9 months back in 2017 because he tried to use his position as a judge to interfere with the police's investigation into his intern's DUI case.
I noticed the arrogant defendant making ANOTHER covertly disrespectful face during Round 2. Judge Simpson had to have seen it too. I'm surprised he didn't give her hell again.
He probably didn’t want her trying to go self rep again.
He knows that would end badly. He’s trying to give her the best shot: 1. Get your own private counsel, 2. PD, 3 go your own way. She came in going 3,1,3, and he put 2 on her radar.
Calculated move on his part. He is extremely sharp.
@@Korrin1 I agree, this is what makes him an excellent judge, she's so obnoxious and he's STILL trying to get her that fair trial. Class act.

3:03 Judge Simpson:
“Don’t shake your head at me- - Oh, oh, oh!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She thinks you can just drop a lawyer pre trail and pick one up mid trial. Thats not how this works.
Isn't that the same judge who saw someone drive a car without a license and smoked recreational marijuana in bond.
Yes it is the same guy, that’s how I even knew of him in the first place
Public defenders are a special breed. The way some defendants show such utter contempt for the people who are trying to help them blows my mind. I really thought she had the right clothes on with those stripes.
I really like and appreciate this judge! Wish I could tell him personally. America needs him as a mentor for us all
Judge Simpson: “Don’t shake your head at me- - Oh, oh, oh “ 🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
He's ok, but definitely not someone to be celebrated. He was suspended for 9 months and was nearly fired back in 2017 for corruption after he tried to use his position to interfere with the police's investigation into his intern's DUI.
I love how he didn't bother hiding his annoyance at this seemingly obtuse woman.
This judge is legendary
The Judge was so calm when faced with her rudeness.
Judge should have jailed her, just to let her know he mean business.
I’m firing him at this time ..sounds like “yes he is fired but at any second I might want him back “
Exactly. The arrogance 🤦♀️
How can you not admire this judge ?!
He’s always been just in the other cases I’ve seen. 💙☮️🙏
In 2013, he tried to abuse his position so that he could interfere with the police's investigation into his intern's DUI. He was suspended for 9 months without pay for the corrupt behaviour and was very close to losing his job.
Saw this on another channel. She is very fortunate she didn't end up in a cell.
Added 4/11 to my calendar 😂
If she wants to hire an attorney. Why was she appointed a court appointed attorney?
She would have asked for or been offered one. She can refuse or change her mind but not as she is appearing in court.
There's some distinctions:
You have a right to an attorney for criminal cases.
That's the longest rat tail I've ever seen. Coming into court looking like a rolled straw wrapper
He is more than fair to Defendants & I can't understand how ppl could be so stupid to anger him. We need more Judges like him
Like that, not like him. He was suspended in 2017 for abusing his position as a judge to interfere in the investigation into his intern's DUI. He was very close to loosing his job over that.
If he's a dad, i bet he's a good one.
I bet he ain't

She saw a Black judge and thought she could bring her foolishness into the court, thinking this dear Judge operated at her street level. Thoroughly disgusting. I love the bailiff just chillin in front of the judge.
AYE IT'S THIS GUY! THE LICENSE JUDGE!
words you don't wanna hear in that court room
"Mr Allen!"
After the first couple of sentences uttered by the defendant, you can already see the "L-ord, give me strength with this one" look on the judge's face. 😅😅😅😅
Good reminder that you can't dismiss your attorney until the Judhe approves.
This poor judge shouldn’t have to deal with the lack of respect in HIS court
It's not 'his' court, he doesn't own it, it's the United States Court

Judge Simpson is an incredibly good judge. He is so cool.
Apart from when he abused his position to try to interfere with the police's investigation into his intern's DUI back in 2013. He was suspended for 9 months without pay and was very close to losing his job permanently.
This is one of the times watching Judge Simpson where he gets that "pissed off Dad" look and I'm a 10 y.o. little girl again, knowing I'm in biiiiig trouble & my Dad ain't playing.
Working in customer services for many years, I know this condescending "let me explain what I'm trying to do" tone very well. I can't imagine taking this tone in a friggin' court.
She was downright cruel & disrespectful to the court & the court-appointed attorney. But he's a good one, because I would've let her sink treating me like that!
She definitely owes her public defender.
God Bless the public defenders office, Judiciary and Prosecutors office. Thankless jobs! They deal respectfully people and those who are totally disrespectful, evil, entitled and ignorant people daily. I would love to see her court hearing. Please praying we get to see her!!!
Good and fair judge!!! I also like the way he spoke up for the public defender, who also is a good man and is really trying to help his client. And that lady was quick to learn and she did apologize. She was calm throughout. 🙂🌷🌱
While t-Rump the Horrid is getting away with sooo many speeches🫨 in contempt of court, it’s obscene. I can’t wait to see him take more naps and make more gaffs in court. He is sooo boring! 🙄

If she says, “I’m representing myself” one more time…🙄
Wish Simpson would have said, "you are just going to go and I can't make that any clearer".
