So true. I would have loved to have been that age and have had a healthy, stable living environment with either or my parents. Especially for a meager $200 a month ? Ha ! Sounds like dad is trying to get her to pay a minimal amount of rent. Parents want her to take some responsibility. Parents should have put a household agreement in writing. Rent, rules, household expectations for both sides (chores, amenities, communication etc). I dare her to find a place to live for $200/month. Ideally, dad would secretly put the monthly rent in a bank account that could be used for 1st & last month rent in future.
Maybe he could save it for her or he could actually spend it on what he wants to. $200 dollars for an All Bills Paid place where you have free reign is a nice setup. Ideally he should be teaching her to also save some of the money she is making so she can have first and last months rent.
Sound to me he should have started her understanding how money works long before her 18th birthday. Example chores for money not just handing out money.

She gets Snap, Heap, Medicaid, free rent, water paid, access to our washer and dryer. Its a sweet deal for her. I advised her Dad if her rent was even just 500 a month then we were losing $6,000 a year in income. No respect for my opinion and other ongoing issues finally caused me to leave the situation. But shes still living her best life on his dime.
Why let that ruin your relationship was it your money she was spending? I wouldn’t have cared that’s his issue and his daughter. As long as he paid the bills where we lived.

Yeah. For sure. She’s going to be miles ahead of her friends who don’t have to pay anything. He is an awesome father.
Yea he did such a great job of raising her. She is a wonderful young woman.

Way to go dad. It’s nice knowing there are still folks that raise their kids the way we were raised.
This is an adult that he raised to behave this way. The fact that it had to get to this point waste the courts time over a family fight.
Only halfway.. I would have NEVER said no to my parents... I would not be here if I did...😬
So, the Dad got nothing after all that? She’s not going to pay anything. Next step - eviction.
Yup, she jumped off that zoom chat in defiance to all of them. Hope they did sort it out, but if not, I think the judge will demand a monthly payment and it may be higher than what her dad will charge her.
You know, a lot of people improperly use the word entitled, but in this case, you totally nailed it...
She was most likely raised as a spoiled princess, so the dad should recognize that the way a child is raised determines how they are going to be as an adult, and if she acts a certain way it is because they were basically taught to act that way by their parents, who are ultimately to blame.
@@jacklow9611 Not necessarily. Most good kids start changing after puberty; and no one can predict their motivations in life until they're finally compelled to live in the real world.
@@mvpfocus If the child is spoiled when pre-pubescent, being given everything they want, and the spoiling continues after puberty, they are growing up with an entitled attitude, and then they are shocked when they get out into the real world and discover that they aren't all that special, they continue to hold onto the idea that the world revolves around them, giving them a form of psychosis that is difficult to overcome and unless they are shown reality it can lead to manipulative, criminal megalomania where they use everyone around them, and wind up throwing everyone "under the bus" and see themselves basically as gods, or the only one who can "save" everyone, even though they only want to save themselves because they are so great, and the only important person is themselves.

When I turned 19, my parents did the same thing. It was only 250 a month and I struggled to pay it. Car insurance was 250 a month and although I had 3 jobs, I wasn’t making much take home. This was 35 years ago. I only lived at home a couple of year after that but was never home between working and training/teaching martial arts. When I got married, my parents gave me the money from that rent that I was paying that they were saving for me without me knowing. They are teaching her a valuable lesson.

I lived off and on with my mother until age 32 because my died died when I was 15 and she preferred to have the company. By age 18, I still did not pay rent but if a big ticket item that needed repair or replacement, I always offered to pay for half of it and I would make a per paycheck stipend to her until my half of the balance was paid off. Was she able to afford it on her own? yes but I benefited from living with her so it was the least I could do
When I bought our home from her after she was moving to her own place, there was about 14k equity at the closing. I kept 5k for a new roof replacement and gave her the rest as a "thank you"

I held them accountable and they are responsible adults. Not useless like this girl. Kick her out, legally. You won’t be disappointed. That girl is a brat plain and simple.
I bet your kids paid for groceries and helped on the utilities. There is never a free ride, and this adult will get that from her father. Hopefully she talked like an adult and got the rent settled out in installments and she gone back to college.
That’s what I told my son. I said I don’t mind you staying as long as you are doing something productive with your life. He’s 14 and just started high school. Thats all the responsibility he has. As he gets older and can work he will. But other than that he needs to go to school and get his work done
I make mine pay a decent rent. They don't know it is invested for them and they will get it all back when they move out, but but by paying rent they are learning how to be responsible and what it means to be an adult while they are adults in a safe environment, which I feel is an important part of my job as a parent.
@@sashane01I have 4 kids, my oldest is also 14. My hope is that they stay home through college. I don't want them to work, I want them to focus on starting their lives and getting themselves on solid footing.
I will pay their cost, I will pay their tuition. I don't want them to start life at 22 with major debt, and I want them to do well in college. That is the best thing I feel I can do for them.
@@anonymoose116 I have 5 kids and my youngest ones (twins) just began their freshman year in college. All of my kids have gone to college and lived either on campus or at college. All of them have paid their own way. They all went to excellent, inexpensive state universities and had their college debts paid off in less than six months. (They all worked while in college too.) My eldest is in his last year for his PhD and lives at home - paying rent. He has three jobs too. Second eldest is married 4 years, owns a home and her husband is getting his PhD. Third got an excellent job out of undergrad school and owns her own home too. You are not demanding enough of your kids.
He seems like an amazing father. I’m surprised she turned out this way.
He said "You're hard to deal with..." TRUTH and Wisdom imparted to this young woman by the Judge and Dad 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I LOVE YOU JUDGE SIMPSON ❤ YOU ARE A JUDGE WITH SO MUCH WISDOM MIXED WITH
CARE. AND WITH TRUTH. WE NEED SO MANY MORE JUDGES JUST LIKE 👍 YOU ❤!
She needs to lose the word " like ". Dad get her a tent and a sleeping bag.
Amen. She can camp out in the yard, use the bathroom in the house, and provide her own meals and transportation. Welcome to adulthood, sweetie.
And she needs to do away with the "uptalking".
i can't stand that word these days, that's all people say anymore! "like like i was like, i lwas like, i was like, like like like etc' ugh
Exactly these corporate puppets are completely lost. My bad but I'm right.

You forgot to insert the word “literally“ every other word.
I love her Dad. He is a treasure. It is obvious that her Dad loves her.
This is a good lesson for this girl
Guaranteed she thought about moving out and realised her dad was doing her a favour when she saw rent costs, utilities, etc she will do better. now.
Omg ,a judge who uses common sense. This man is as valuable as gold.ALSO,even though the daughter was wrong, you could see what a good job her dad had done, through her respectful tone/demeanor.I miss my dad😢
Judge Bryant needed ahold of that disrespectful girl. Especially when she hung up on them all
